From Todd (the owner) to Adam (project manager) to his crews, you will not meet a more environmentally responsible, hard working bunch of folks! They listen to what you want done., make suggestions if you ask and do an outstanding job on everyday maintenance as well as any hardscape project you need done. I would recommend them for any and all of your landscape needs/desires!!

I mentioned that I wanted a new walkway. I wanted the steppy stones out and he suggested even what would look good there. They went past what I expected. They took some of the older stepping stone and edge fell on with them. I didn't expect them to do that. It looked really nice. He did an excellent job. He is very creative.
Description of Work: I used Blossom Earthworks to resodded our whole backyard and front yard including the strip out there and I wanted a special gravel put underneath the sod in the backyard.

These fellows were fantastic. One of the best companies I have worked with on any project. Todd and his crew did a wonderful job on making my vision a reality. The crew arrived on time, worked hard while thery were here and cleaned up well afterworkd .They dug out and rerouted my downspouts into a nice deep area, providing much better drainage around the house. They gladly included my own archtectural piece in the project, and the rock was sourced from my yard. The excess dirt was spread in an area that needed filling, giving me an extra boost on my next yard project. I could not be happier with Todd, and his nice crew of fellows. I would not hesitate to use them in the future and highly recommend Blossom Earthworks for any landscaping project. Todd has a very good, natural vision of how to make a small project look stunning. I just wish I could afford for him to the rest of the yard now.
Description of Work: Excavated and installed rain garden in front yard. Rerouted downspouts into rain garden, installed rocks, plants and mulch.

Their quote seemed to be little high so I just hired a friend of ours and started doing it ourselves. They seemed to be expensive and I couldn't really afford it. It was not that it was out of the market. It was just not within our budget. They were very professional and upfront about it. They were great as far them coming out and getting back to me with a bid. They got back to me with an email with the bid which was very detailed. Their bid seems to be in the market and pretty close; I don't think it was outside the landscaping world if I had to compare it with other companies. All the bids that I got were a little bit high than what we could afford at the time.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Blossom Earthworks for landscaping for my house as well my business.

We were mostly happy with our yard and garden beds, but there were a few issues that we wanted help with. Todd spent 2 hours helping us clarify problems and gave very specific suggestions for native, drought resistant plants that would work in the various micro-climates of our yard. We had replaced a front lawn with a faux dry creek and lots of grasses and plants. We liked the way our front yard looked in the summer, but we needed more permanent structure for the winter. In the back yard, a strip of lawn that meanders between various beds had become uneven and overtaken with clover and dandelions. Last year I created a rain garden for drainage of the roof, but it needed some improvement. We first hired Todd for a 2-hour consultation during which we made suggestions and gave specific plant recommendations while we took copious notes. We did some work ourselves following his recommendations, but we also asked him to take on a few specific projects in the yard. Todd's crew showed up late one afternoon to take stock and do a little prep work. The next day it took just a couple of hours to replace the large bush with a maple tree and plant the shrubs and groundcover in the front yard. The back lawn was removed in short order and the surrounding beds were cleaned and defined. They quickly weeded all of the beds in the yard and spread 3 yards of rich compost to both front and back yards. The crew communicated what they were doing and occasionally asked our input on what they were doing. The new lawn has been seeded and we're waiting for it to take off. They did an awesome job and we couldn't have been happier with their work.
Description of Work: General consultation with suggestions for all areas of our yard.Removed an existing bush and replaced it with a maple tree, planted several shrubs and ground cover in the front yard.Improved on an existing rain garden in the backyard.Removed old strip of backyard lawn, tilled, leveled, rolled & replanted grass.Installed metal edge to improved definition of back lawn & bed areas.Weeded & mulched all beds with compost.

The workers were half through by the time I woke up and went outside to take a look. They barely trimmed the portions they finished. When Todd gave me the estimate I was clear about wanting the hedge trimmed close in and tight. My neighbor and I wanted the hedged trimmed for practicality not esthetics as we're only willing to deal with it once a year. Todd seemed to understand. I talked with him on two other occasions and sent an e-mail as well so we would be perfectly clear as to what I was getting for the money he was asking. He apparently didn't pass this on to his workers as I gave them the same input. The worker's objected saying, well - it wouldn't look good and no one cuts their hedge so close in the tips of the branches show. At one point one of the workers called Todd, he came over immediately and I had to repeat what he agreed to in the estimate. It was VERY frustrating. I finally said, "If you can't do it the way I want it done then no one's getting paid." One of the workers took that as his cue and he trimmed a portion exactly as I wanted it. The other worker pouted for awhile but finally got it. They did an AWESOME job. It couldn't look better. My neighbor and I are very happy with it, now!

Todd and his team did a phenomenal job. He provided great consultation and some real life options for our yard. Once the work started, they did a great job. Calling me when questions arose, causing the neighbors who chatted with him or his workers, to praise me for their diligence. Any issues or questions we had, he quickly resolved, plus he mentioned a few additional things he could do to make the project look even better. He definitely does a great job and has a good attitude. He is excited to show off his other projects as well. We plan on using him again for the other side of our yard.
Description of Work: Performed a soil test in spring to determine the task at hand. Did a beautiful drawing of our lot with a variety of proposed layouts for our yard. We gave him a challenging task. Take our north facing yard, that is under 3 85 year old elm trees, and provide us with something we will be proud to look at. There is now a nice short stone wall, a small rain garden, thriving plants, all in a place we spent 5 years trying to make something work.

Todd was recommended to me by a friend so I set up an appointment with him before I had read Angie's List comments. I had a positive impression of him and I was about to sign a contract when I read these AL comments, so I asked Todd to explain the complaints. He gave me a number of recent projects to view, which I did, and they all looked GREAT. I went with my instinct and hired him to do just the rear yard, but then asked him back to do the front yard too. I'm very surprised at these comments, they don't at all describe the experience I had with Todd or his crew. My yard has been transformed from a sloping weed pit to a stunning oasis. Todd accommodated my additional requests, worked well with my other sub-contractors, came up with the Rain Garden solution for the back yard, cleaned up his job site each day, and was very personable. These prior reports are NOT representative of Todd's overall work. I am hiring him again for a permeable pavers job estimated at $7000.
Description of Work: Removal of weeds and dead grass that had overgrown backyard. Level off sloping grade of rear yard. Add new, hearty, native plants to rear yard for erosion control and attractiveness. Dug and planted a Rain Garden feature and attached it to gutters for on-site collection of water run-off. Installed new sod in rear and front yards. Pruned apple and flowering plum trees, and camelia bush. Createed small flower bed shortly away from house so that any run off towards house would be blocked. Distributed river rock alongside house so that water run-off gets filtered down and away from house, instead of filtering into the basement, it also provides a path for walking around garden, and it looks good! Provided pavers options for front path. Weeded remaining area and expose overgrown pathway.

Extremely disappointing.
Description of Work: I asked for a proposal on installation of a water catchment system, including a storage tank of some kind. Todd was personable and appeared knowledgeable during his consultation, but I never received a proposal, nor were phone calls returned. This sort of behavior gives green businesses, to which I am committed, a bad name.

While I did consult on this project, this report does not reflect the true nature of our conversation. I will except all responsibility for mistakes I have made and look for clients interested in finding solutions and working together, not smearing someone in a passive aggressive fashion.

Todd provided a consultation, during which I described what changes and improvements I wanted. My main concern was one flower bed which needed re-designing. Unfortunately, when he told me he doesn't provide a plan in writing. I proceeded with the work anyway. He did a very poor job, haphazardly selected and installed plants in random places. He did not move bushes as we agreed. In the bed, which prompted me to call him, he planted a tree (as agreed). The problem was that he left the rest of the bed untouched and full of weeds. He placed other plants in very odd and unattractive places. I would not recommend him to anyone for design work, which is his specialty.
