BILL MORRISON CO INC

Description of Work: On Oct. 11, 2010, I brought my small ink jet printer to the Bill Morrison Compay for service. It had been putting streaks of ink on the back of each page printed. I chose them due to location close to my home. They were very pleasant and easily engaged in conversation. I asked specifically how much the fee was for cleaning and servicing and was told "$35.00" and it would take "a couple of days". I was pleased with the way they treated me and with the price. I explained the printer is used for my wife's business and for printing my photos, we have a consistent need for it but could do without it for "a couple of days". A "couple of days" passed and no word. On Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, I was in the area of their shop and stopped in to check on the printer. I talked to Marc the technician who said he had the printer apart but it wasn't done yet. He said it would be done "tomorrow" and would call me. Friday the 15th came and passed without a call from Marc and I didn't call because I had other activities. On Monday, October 18, 2010, I called and talked to a lady who said she would have Marc call me later. He did indeed call two hours later and reported he was sorry he didn't call me on Friday but still didn't have the printer put back together yet. I asked him "when?" and he said "tomorrow" again. "When 'tomorrow'?". He said at 8:30am when they open. And by the way, the amount of the bill just jumped to $85.00. On Tuesday Oct. 19, 2010, I came to the shop and met with the gentleman whom I saw initially and asked him what was done specifically. He explained about the cleaning but reported no parts were replaced. I asked him why the bill was $50.00 more than what he had quoted when I bought the printer to him. He was quick to say, "That ($35.00) was just for the estimate". The word "estimate" was not mentioned when he quoted me the price. He said "$35.00" in response to the question, "How much to clean and service?" I paid the $85.00 of course, but promised myself never to darken their doorway again seeking services. I connected the printer to my computer and it worked just fine, not streaks on the back of pages.
