Disastrous, as indicated above. I didn't care for the attitude of the manager about the whole episode. I thought they shouldn't charge me anything for what they did and thought it was lousy they charged $25. Though they thoroughly screwed up my new computer, I've not taken it back because I think they're incompetent to fix it properly.
Description of Work: They did a reinstall on the WRONG computer when I brought them 2. It should have been done on my 3 day old Dell to get it to run faster(it kept crashing when I tried to uninstall junk software). Even though they called to confirm the reinstall, they didn't listen and still reformatted the hard drive on my OLD computer and lost all my data. They hadn't even written the brand of computer on the work orders and taped the wrong one to each computer. The instructions were so brief that led to the error too. Though they tried to recover some of the data, they complained about the amount of time involved for them and still charged me for the Dell, which they also screwed up. They did NOT REINSTALL THE SOFTWARE, left junk software on, left the touch pad not working, left error "USB device not recognized," even though nothing was connected when I picked it up. Worse, it was NO FASTER, though I'd been told it would "scream" when I dropped it off. Talk about time involved--mine, the customer's!

Terrible.
Description of Work: We took our main computer at work into Belmont to get rid of a virus. They said it would be $60 approximately, and that work would be done that afternoon. FOUR DAYS LATER we got the computer back. They explained that was because the guy who was supposed to fix it had gotten sick. This was our accounting computer, and it really messed us up. When we got it set up back at work, there remained minor problems. As they were on the same block as us, we asked if they could drop by and fix it. Then the owner of the company started yelling profanities. Not a great situation!

Belmont computers is always very helpful both on the phone and in person. They are willing to talk with my son and make him feel educated (rather than stupid) as part of the process. Even though it is quite a drive to visit these guys, it is worth it. My son would love to work at this place when he's older.
Description of Work: My son's computer was not working. Since he built it himself, it is always suspect.

Not well. The repair man Tony transfered my Dell Hard Drive to the Mac. When I got home I realized he only transfered some of it. I called to get the hard drive back and he said he'd look for it. The the Mac kept crashing so I took it back for a refund. Tony still couldn't find the Dell hard drive, but he said he would give me the hard drive from the MAC. I called every week for a month. Each time Tony got more and more agitated and just out right snotty. He kept saying he'd call me with the hard drives. I finally told him that I was taking him to small claims court if he didn't make my hard drives a priority. He wrote me a letter saying everything got recycled. So, I'm taking Tony and Belmont Computers to court. This was the worst I have ever been treated. It was and remains a nightmare!
Description of Work: Brought my Dell in for service. Ended up purchasing a new Mac Os X Tiger from them. After having the Mac for a few days I brought it back as it kept crashing.

Horrible. I was robbed of $122.00, and insulted to boot.
Description of Work: They were supposed to fix a computer virus that got into my computer. They said it would take 24 hours and cost $60-$90. When I got it back the computer was still in bad shape, slow, somewhat corrupted. They would not come back to look at it, even though my business is about thirty feet from their place. They insisted I bring it in but I was worried they'd keep it an inordinate amount of time. I talked with the owner who was incredibly rude. When I suggested he might be having a bad day, he started actually screaming at me.

Did not go well. Required three trips and 2 cd units to get the thing to actually work. In the end, I had to reinstall the cd unit myself. They were pleasant enough, but I would not recommend them for anything.
Description of Work: Full rebuild after computer crashed, plus installed new cd burner.

We needed someone nearby to fix the computer asap. The technicians were friendly, though not particularly focused on customer relations. More importantly, they were able to rescue our ailing computer within a day - and the price seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: An older Sony laptop had completely stopped working. Belmont Computers rescued the files we needed and then wiped its hard disk clean and reinstalled the software. The computer worked fine afterwards.

My old computer was ready to be recycled but I had a file on it I needed to save. Jason backed up my documents on a CD while I watched, in less than 15 minutes, and only charged me $11.25, 1/4 of the hourly rate. They would also recycle the computer for me at Free Geek, although I preferred to drop it off myself. I was delighted to have this done so quiclky and inexpensively.

They come out to the house, are quite helpful, and also reasonable. Very ethical and straightforward. Funny ads as well.
Description of Work: We've been using them for about three years now for work on our three computers.

My experience here was really not very good. It took more than a month to get my computer back, after an estimate was given of 5-7 days. I had problems getting phone calls returned promptly and finding out what the problem was. However, my computer WAS fixed, and the company gave me a deeply discounted fee for their services because of my experience. They also assured me that the person responsible for the long wait time was fired.
Description of Work: They fixed my DC jack. Also, parts on my motherboard required replacement.

The issue with my computer (it was not powering up at all) was fully fixed by these folks. They were nice, courteous, and seemed to know what they were doing. However, I brought it in and they hinted that it might be fixed that same day - when I called later they told me it might take several days. They then told me about the "rush" pricing, but it was a bit too late. Overall, I would take my computer back there again, but if I needed it sooner I would call one of the places that repairs at your house/office.
Description of Work: Repaired power source.

THEY WERE FINE. WE WERE HAPPY WITH WHAT THEY DID. THEY DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO. THE PEOPLE WERE PERFECTLY OK, AND THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
