Fantastic
Description of Work: My wife and I had the most refreshingly positive experience with Appliance Guys, and I want to share it with you. The refrigerator section of our fridge conked out recently, but the freezer section was still working fine. We called the repair department of the local, hometown, appliance store where we bought it almost nine years ago, and they sent someone out. Before he had even opened the unit he informed us that the compressors in these units were very unreliable, and that we were lucky it had lasted this long (odd they didn’t hesitate to sell it to us). When we pointed out that the freezer section was working, which discounted the compressor theory, he said that the frozen goods were probably keeping the compartment cold. Then he verified with a temp tester that it was still working. Still he stated that by the time he troubleshot and repaired the problem, and replaced the compressor, it would be several hundred dollars. It was up to us, of course, but he suggested we’d probably be better off buying a new appliance. We told him we’d consider our options, so he gave us a bill for the service call, and pointed out that if we bought from them again we’d get the service call cost discounted from the price. After he left, my wife and I both had the vague feeling we were being manipulated. So we went on Angie’s list and called the Appliance Guys. We noted that they had the highest number of positive reviews. The person who answered the phone was very professional and polite. They asked us for the model and serial number of the refrigerator, and a few pertinent diagnostic questions, and since it was already late afternoon, made an appointment for the next day. When he arrived the repairman quickly and professionally disassembled the interior of the fridge and verified that the component that he had suspected from our call was indeed the offending party. A defrost sensor had failed and ice buildup was blocking airflow from the freezer to the fridge. That simple. The cost for the part, $23.00 minus 10% for using Angie’s list. The total bill, $115.70. The total time, including manually defrosting the freezer coils, less than an hour. I’m a mechanic, so I know competent workmanship when I see it. And the Appliance Guys repairman was the real deal. We hope that we don’t need their services again in the near future, but if we do, we won’t hesitate a second to call the Appliance Guys. And we hope that you won’t hesitate either. Buy local. Support the home team. But nost importantly, support the good guys out there.

Description of Work: very professional - explained everything he was going to do, did the work very efficiently and gave me options on the work he proposed, didn't do anything he didn't tell me about ahead of time. He even cleaned up and put everything back in its place - even the parts of the washing machine I'd pulled apart when i tried to figure it out myself. I totally recommend this organization.

Description of Work: My garbage disposal backed up suddenly just two days before I was to go out of town on a 3-week assignment. I couldn't leave home with a sink full of water and garbage. Appliance Guys was able to fit me in the following day, and the repairman showed up early on the 4-hour span in which he would arrive. The repairs were done quickly and efficiently, and I appreciated the fact that the repairman put covers over his shoes to protect the flood. All in all, a very professional company. I would definitely use them again.

Terrific!
Description of Work: My old dryer wouldn't turn on, and the person I talked to on the phone thought it could be the motor. Not only were they able to come the same day I called (in fact, within 2 hours!), but it was fixed quickly. Thank you so much Appliance guys!

Description of Work: Dryer drum would not turn. I could hear a marble rolling around when drum was made to turn. Appliance Guys responded promptly. Marble was removed, but because they had to charge a $72 service call, they offered to do "rountine maintenance" on the dryer. They "warned" that it may need a new motor someday. After they left, the dryer was able to dry one load, then would not work anymore. Gee, I needed a new motor for approx. $125. What a coincidence! A natural gas smell developed in the laundry room after their first visit, but when they came back for the second visit, the repairman "couldn't smell it." The smell has not gone away, but I dread calling them again. Who knows what else they'll "fix!"

Description of Work: We called for service on Christmas Eve morning. We were told they would do what they could to fit us in, as the snow and ice storm had caused problems in trying get to houses and several calls were in for furnace repairs. We had a blown terminal block and power cable in our clothes dryer. We had a call before 11am and said they would be here in approximately 20 minutes. They were on time and thorough. They needed to order parts, the parts store was closed for the holiday. They returned on Friday with the parts and installed them. They tested the dryer and everything has been running fine since.

Extremely satisfactory.
Description of Work: Our front loading washer quit between the rinse and spin cycle on Sunday PM. I called Monday AM and they diagnosed the likely problem on the phone and scheduled to come out between 9-11 on Tuesday AM. They showed up when they said they would (even called to say he was on his way) and immediately went to work. Turns out there was a bent bobby pin in the pump (my bad--had hoped I could blame my husband for coins left in his pocket, but . . .). He simply found it, removed it, put everything back in order, ran a trial cycle, and only charged the service fee.

The process went very well.
Description of Work: Dryer would stop during cycle. They came out and first replace the door switch. This did not fix problem. Then the looked at timer to see if there was any burnt or loose wires; none. Then the started dryer and slowly turned the time and machine stopped. Time had flat spots in it. Gave and estimate as to the cost to replace timer and said that they could not do it that day because of the lateness and that he did not have the right timer. Said to call company after I talked to my wife if we wanted to continue. Called company and said go ahead and replace time. Came out next day and replaced it.

Description of Work: Our Whirlpool Duet washer up and quit and nothing we did would resuscitate it. Called Glen at 8:30 AM and he said he'd try and work us in between 10:30 and 11:30. He called about 10:20 and said he'd be there in 20 min. and would that be all right. Uh, yeah, it would. Showed up at 10:40, very professional and polite, clean and considerate. He discovered the problem was something stuck in the pump that would not let it start pumping. He rooted around with his finger dislodging the offending obstacle and got the pump to work. He could have replace anything and charged accordingly but he didn't. The total cost was the basic service charge for showing up. We are totally happy with the transaction and recommend Appliance Guys (Glen) highly. The whole thing went how you would actually order it up if you could. When's the last time that happened? We'll be repeat customers for sure.

Very positive experience!
Description of Work: First, the fan for the convection function in our self-cleaning oven quit working, then the light wouldn't come on automatically although it did work when the button on the control panel was pressed. Then it wouldn't clean itself and kept beeping every 3 minutes to be reset. We finally flipped the breaker in the fuse box. We called Appliance Guys and spoke with Glenn who asked questions and rifled through reference books as we talked. He came to fix the oven. He needed a part that wasn't immediately available so wired the oven so it could be used, then came two days later to install the proper switch.
