Rebuild after housefire is okay, but many details were missed. I was considered low on his priority list as he "was not making any money on me". I was so tired of dealing with Alex, I wanted nothing further to do with him. I am a 65 year old disabled widow and in this all on my own. Communication was very frustrating. I should have gotten an attorney to help me through the whole process. Did not do a walk through after i moved back in. Forced me to sign off on construction while i was exhausted and in bed. Complaints: North side of house only painted once Left his garbage on my back patio - hose, caulking tubes, roof vent covers in my planter along fence Doorbell doesn't work No heat vent in guest bathroom. Guest bathroom fan did not work to exhaust. Flange was stuck shut. Bathroom sink stoppers don't work Oven not balanced, did not abut to wall leaving large gap between oven and cabinetry Dining room/kitchen lights wired opposite for rooms Front door deadbolt - no strike plate installed. Removed my heat pump without my knowledge or permission. It was not part of the fire claim. I demanded it be returned, which he did, but it is non operational at this time and i'll have to pay out of pocket for it to be reinstalled. Did not caulk along bathtub or shower Open spaces around electric plugs where sheetrock was cut badly. Have to seal these myself. Knocked foundation/crawlspace vents out in process of soda pressure on foundation. Did not replace. Dryer vent left without any screen in place. Possessions stolen from house between time of securing house and reclamation company came in. Don't know if done by his subcontractors or reclamation people, or if when the front door was not secured. Purchased grab bars for disability shower. He took them to put with my warehoused items. Never got them nor were they installed which i've never found. had to repurchase out of my own pocket. Charged exorbitant amounts for purchases of grab bars to insurance. Would not give me a firm move back date, so I was unable to book my own moving services. He charged an outrageous amount for that to insurance. Things he said he did for free were in fact not. I learned a lot about working with a contractor and want to be sure people get information back all the time. Get all your warranties yourself on construction. Do not rely on him to honor warranties. Out of getting nearly 500K for a 420K house, he didn't rebuild my deck which was where the fire started. Don't sign off on anything until entire house is run through it's paces. If I didn't have a volunteer from church to fix things, i'd be in big trouble.

He should up and told me they would get it done within two weeks. He collected money to get supplies and that was the last I heard from him.

Resulted in Arbitration in which I prevailed. He produces shoddy workmanship in which the Oregon Constructor Board confirmed.
Description of Work: AmeriDream turned into an AmeriNightmare. Warning: Avoid this company. I contracted with Alex Batazhan, owner of AmeriDream Construction, to remodel my office building in Portland Oregon. Surprisingly, Mr Baltazhan has been in the US since high school (possibly 20 yrs) has a very bad command of English. The cost was initially $39,579 which evolved to approximately $43,000. The contract was signed on 11/25/2014 and work was started shortly afterwards. No instructions were given by Mr Batazhan to remove any personal, business, or any other items from the premises. I made him fully aware of a new security alarm system that had been installed and that it needed to be preserved. During the demolition and construction he and his crew destroyed the newly installed security, phone and ethernet systems, discarded cans of paint and work materials that were to be used in the remodeling, and discarded display case doors. Proper care was not being exercised for all personal items which were necessary for the operation of my business. I emailed Mr Batazhan regarding this disregard for personal property. Mr Batazhan’s response was one of dismissal. Upon completion of the project a “Punch List” was generated on January 13, 2015. On this list damages and destruction were noted, as well as numerous defects in workmanship. Mr Batazhan corrected a few of the simple items and refused to do the more arduous items. The HVAC/air conditioner malfunctioned six month later within the one year warranty, on or about August 13, 2015. Mr Batazhan repeatedly promised to fix the HVAC but failed to comply or return my phone calls. A complaint was lodged with the Oregon Board of Contractors. A hearing was scheduled for November 4, 2015 at the property. The inspector cited numerous defects in workmanship. After multiple attempts Mr Batazhan made repairs to the HVAC and its vents but refused to repair the other items noted. The HVAC was discovered to have been installed backward according to his repairman and Sunset Heating and Cooling. A mediation request was filed and scheduled for October 2015. However Mr Batazhan refused to attend which is a violation of the contract signed 11/25/2014. Subsequently arbitration was in favor and he was fined. For me Mr Batazhan and his contractors were unreliable, produced shoddy work, destroyed private property without regard, and were very untrustworthy. See other complaints on the web.
