Mike was unprofessional. He worked on his own schedule, left a very messy job site, was unsure of the supplies he needed, subsequently we had to run and get supplies for him to keep him working. A verbal agreement was made to include painting of this structure which he did not honor. He left after asking for more money to complete the job and when we refused, he packed his truck leaving a mess for us to clean up. We would never recommend him for any job.
Description of Work: Built a large carport, attached to side of garage.

I CONTRACTED TO BUILD A LARGE CARPORT WITH HIM ON 8/11/06. HE TOLD ME HE HAD TRIED TO GET A PERMIT BUT THE CITY TOLD HIM HE CAN'T GET A PERMIT AS THE STRUCTURE WAS TOO BIG. I HAD PUT A CLAUSE IN THE CONTRACT THAT HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PERMIT PROBLEMS. THE CONTRACT WAS FOR $4,300.00 TO BE PAID FOR LABOR. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION THERE WERE EXTRAS THAT HE HAD AGREED TO PAY FOR UPON COMPLETION. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION SHE APPROACHED ME ABOUT PAINTING THE 3 COLUMNS AND TRIM ON THE STRUCTURE. I AGREED THAT AFTER WE FINISHED THE PROJECT AND I WAS PAID FOR IT I WOULD PAINT IT FOR HIM. I ATTEMPTED TO DISCUSS THE EXTRA COST WITH HIM. HE TOLD ME HE HAD TO GO AND WE WOULD TALK ABOUT IT THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT DAY I WAS INFORMED THAT HE WAS GONE ON A 3 DAY RAFTING TRIP. HE SURFACED ON THE DAY I INFORMED HIS WIFE WE WERE FINISHING THE JOB. WHEN I GAVE HIM THE BILL FOR THE LAST DRAW AND HIS EXTRAS, HE INFORMED ME THAT MY CONTRACT STATED THAT I HAD TO HAVE A WRITTEN AGREEMENT TO GET PAID ON ANY EXTRAS AND GAVE ME A CHECK ONLY FOR THE LAST DRAW. AS I WAS LOADING MY TOOLS HE THEN TRIED TO GET ME TO PAINT NOT ONLY WHAT WE DISCUSSED PAINTING BUT TO PAINT THE WHOLE STRUCTURE INSIDE AND OUT FOR THE PRICE WE AGREED UPON. I TOLD HIM HE HAD NOT EVEN PAID ME FOR THE EXTRAS YET AND I WASN'T DOING ANOTHER THING UNTIL I WAS PAID. I FINISHED LOADING MY TOOLS AND LEFT. I DID NOT CLEAN UP THE JOB SITE.
