I wasn't going to write a review as I mean no one harm, but when I saw that another reviewer had similar problems I felt I had an obligation. This vendor presented himself very professional with lots of young energy. Promises of a managed project with a dedicated project manager were made. The quote was more expensive than the other vendors we looked at, but we were encouraged by the overall approach this contractor promised. What we got in our opinion was a brutally long process of constant battle with a salesman rather than a project manager. We found that the quote was purposely vague and ignored key items we clearly spoke about. In a sense, the already expensive quote only included about 75% of the overall costs. Every time we engaged the contractor we were told a change order would need to be made adding both expense and time to the contract. This would happen several times per week over a two month period. It was a constant battle, and even if the contractor finally completed what he promised without extra cost, we were asked to sign zero dollar change orders so we would know how generous he was being while still adding time to the project. It got to the point where we would refuse to even speak with the contractor except through email so we had a written record. We were even accused of not returning calls because we refused to not put the conversation on record. There was a clear pattern of dishonesty. We were continually insulted by a patronizing customer service approach where Aaron Thompson would constantly refer to our exciting basement remodel as beautiful and professional always writing have a great day despite the clear unhappiness we expressed. Our feelings about our own home and how we were experiencing the project were completely discounted. In terms of actual project management, we found that we were not consulted on most aspects of the project. We would come home to all sorts of problems or surprises that would cause confusion or would have to be fought about the next day. The nightmare was not in the quality of work, as I would rate it average (even acceptable), but in a terrible approach. There were numerous problems when the project was considered done by the contractor, but we would rather fix them ourselves than open our home to the energy drain of this group. Buyer Beware on Aaron Thompson, AIPC (Alliance Investment Properties Corp) and their new company name Remodel In Portland. There is a reason why companies change names. I would also l like to point out that there are always two sides. We have never gone through a remodel before and we as "customers" may not have been the most educated. Perhaps many of these problems could have been prevented if we knew more what we were doing. I accept responsibility for not being an expert or a contractor myself. I was also hard on this contractor because of all the issues.
Description of Work: This contractor was brought in to "finish" and "unfinished" basement in a 1920s farmhouse. We were looking for framing, sheet rock, and paint.

I received an estimate that ended up being 30% of the finished cost. The contractor did not honor some of my specifications. The workmanship was extremely poor with obvious flaws nearly everywhere you looked. When requests were made to make reparations, the contractor was argumentative and resistant, even dishonest. Only some of them were ever corrected. I cannot express what an awful experience this was. Hopefully this helps others not to make the same mistake in choosing Aaron Thompson as their contractor. I will have to hire another contractor to fix the many problems that were left behind.
