I ran into David at an estate sale, where he was buying a lot of old picture frames. We got to talking, and he told me that he restored old frames (something I had long been looking for someone to do) and framed art in both old and restored frames. He gave me his card, and it later occurred to me that possibly he could help me with the decorative scroll-like finish on my Queen Anne chairs. He said that he had never done exactly this before, but in fact the process was very similar to what he did with restoring picture frames. He was very professional, detail-oriented, and conscientious throughout. I LOVE the way my chairs have turned out!! He called me to make a decision about the amount of stain and varnish and when I went over, I realized what an extensive framing, frame restoration and antique frame set-up he has in his home. I already have in mind some framing projects that I want him to do, and because he works out of his home , I am CERTAIN that his prices will be way less than those of a traditional frame shop. Also, I love the idea of reusing old frames--either ones I have collected or picking one from David's extensive collection.
