Description of Work: He came out promptly and gave us great information and suggestions for waterproofing our basement. We told him we were wanting to begin the process he suggested at this time. Expecting a call back we were very disappointed that despite many left messages requesting a call it was about a month later. At this time we were told via a phone message that they have been busy and call back to schedule.

 + 2 moreWhen there were minor misunderstandings between the owner and his crew, they were always resolved to our satisfaction. Allen, the owner, said "I may not make money on every job, but every job results in a happy customer". We are happy with the end result of this job. One of the issues was inexperience by one of his crew in repairing the drywall. This was resolved quickly by the owner by bringing in another worker to finish the job. We felt Allen was very conscientious and checked in frequently to make sure we were satisfied. We would use him again.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced missing drywall which was removed by a plumber in 3 locations. Replaced rubber cove in bathroom areas. Repainted areas affected. Made inspection cover with plywood to cover hole in closet made by plumber. Replaced 8 cedar deck boards on back deck. Re-installed wood panels in basement that were removed by plumber. Additionally replaced 3 trim rings around recessed lighting in the basement..

 + -1 moreThe owner Allen came out to meet with me. He was very knowable! I felt his prices were very reasonable. The quality of the work was excellent. Allen and his crew seemed to really care about the work they did. He also looked at a few things for my neighbor during his initial visit. I have since recommended him to other family members and will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: All Service Construction repaired some water damage on the sheetrock in the bedroom and replaced some siding because of dryrot.

 + 0 moreWe were under a tight time schedule as we were heading out of town for 11 weeks and we had water draining into our basement in severe rain. And because of horrendous pouring rain that whole month of December, 2012, we were down to the very end of December. But Allen got his crew on the job in almost unworkable weather and finished, mostly, everything. I say mostly, because we did need additional crushed rock when we returned, but our back yard drainage problems are now solved and allow us to have peace of mind with Portland's heavy amount of rainfall. Allen explained what we needed well beforehand. He gave us a couple of choices. The work was messy and a terrible burden for his workcrew, but done well and the back yard gives me pleasure to look at from my kitchen every single day. I would hire this company again without question.
Description of Work: Removed concrete patio in back yard and installed a french drain to move water away from house foundation. Filled in with crushed rock.

Usually I am not in a rush with work on my rentals but I had already found renters for this house so I wanted to be sure the work would be done before they moved in. Alan said it would and iindeed it was. His emplyees worked long hours. I will use All Service again when I need work on my rentals done.well.
Description of Work: All Service installed an egress window in the basement as well as a new closet. They did additional work to get my rental ready for tenants; insulating a door and installing a deadbolt, closet poles, drawer and cabinet pulls, towel racks and other items.

 + 1 moreI was leery at first: the estimate took forever to get and when if finally came, the completion date was so impossibly fast that I knew it had to be a mistake. But the price was better by a wide margin than any other estimate we'd received and we weren't in a rush to see the work done so I accepted the bid and crossed my fingers that they'd be more responsive once the job started. My gamble paid off: once they started the job, they were on it! They were courteous, conscientious and professional. When they discovered lead paint in the bathroom they followed all proper removal protocols and didn't once mention changing the estimate. I was right about the completion date, but they didn't drag it out. The only caveat was that on one or two days there was no one on site that spoke English. That made communication awkward but not impossible. All in all we were very happy. We plan on using All Service for other jobs in the future: that's the best recommendation I can give.
Description of Work: Repaired moisture damage to bathroom walls and repainted (including following protocols for lead based paint removal). Framed, drywalled and painted two walls in the basement. Repaired damaged living room ceiling (new drywall, paint).

 + 0 moreThis was one of those thankless, unrewarding repair jobs where nothing is beautiful when finished, it's just not ugly and sopping wet anymore. Most important is that Allen always responded promptly and compassionately to our calls for help. He also seems to really know his water-seepage/pourage/drainage stuff. He is cautious and realistic. He spent at least two hours carefully figuring out the best approaches. We knew that with our old basement there was no quick fix and maybe not even a sure fix. But we were confident in his skills and integrity. Because the weather has been fairly dry since this latest repair, we can't know for sure yet if this solution is the final one. I will add to this review at a later date when we've gone through some multiple-day heavy rains. ADDED ON DEC. 27 2015. After the wettest Dec. on record, our basement is still dry!!!
Description of Work: This was two separate services. We first called Allen in April of 2011. The bill for that was $2,740. The bill for December's additional service was $2,390. In April Allen responded to an urgent call from us about our flooded basement. Within an hour or two he had arrived with fans, dehumidifier, and a water vacuum. When the weather dried out, his crew dug up our foundation on one corner, approximately 20 ft. long and 5 ft. deep. They cleaned and examined the foundation wall for holes and cracks and made necessary repairs. They applied two coats waterproof mastic membrane and protect-liner, backfilled with compaction, graded to 6% slope away from house. Three window wells were installed to prevent dirt from coming into contact with windows and sills. In Dec. water was again pouring in; however the walls which formerly had been saturated were still dry. Because the water could no longer enter where it had been, it was coming in another way. To correct the problem, Allen's crew installed an interior drain system around the perimeter of the basement floor. In the process it was necessary to demolish a basement bathroom (which we had always meant to demolish anyway). His men cleaned everything up and hauled away debris.

 + -1 moreThe initial start was that something kept changing in my mind that it should be done and finally reworked as what should be done then he did. He was recommended to me by someone who had already worked with him. I also had used him six months ago and he done a great job so I hired him again. I had water in my basement and I think it was coming from our neighbors down spell I believe also I had springs in the area. So I had them go down in the deep ditch. I also had to make a testing why a placed appeared to be leaking. He dug down there and found that there was a small crack. I thought that his pricing was fair for the first time. He listened to me whenever I had options and he was easy to talk to.
Description of Work: I used All Service Construction & Maintenance for putting in a drainage pipe about seven months ago and also had one more put in a month ago.

 + 2 moreAs we have always found with this company, their work is top notch....excellent in every regard. Allen and his crew go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. The results were outstanding..beautiful paint, clear new windows. What I really like about All Service is that they can take care of many jobs at the same time....not only are they great painters, they are also fantastic woodworkers. We had a deadline to get ready for our daughter's wedding; All Service made sure that our job was completed on time with fabulous results. Be sure to call them when you need painting or woodworking.
Description of Work: We used All Service Painting & Construction for the full exterior painting of our 3100 square feet house and for replacement of four wood framed windows (original windows were fogged up). They also repaired, rescreened, repainted, and reinstalled our wood framed screen door.

 + -1 moreThey stood me up twice and never called to explain why or apologize for my inconvenience. I put all the details of how I was treated in the services performed box because zero services were performed.
Description of Work: I cannot believe that this company stood me up twice for an appointment to give an estimate on waterproofing my basement. Given all the glowing reviews on Angie's list, I couldn't wait to meet Allen. The first appointment he had with me, Istayed home from my job that morning and waited and then after he was late, the nice lady who answers the phone in his office said that he was stuck in Salem waiting for paint to be delivered. (I thought to myself, why would he drive down to Salem when he had a morning appointment with me?). The woman was so apologetic on the phone and said that he could not come out again until after the 4th of July holiday weekend at 10:30am. I left my job and drove home to meet him as well and my partner left his job to dirve home and meet Allen. When 10:50am rolled around and he still had not shown up, I called his office and that same nice woman on the phone seemed shocked that he was not there yet and said she had sent him over to my house. She told me she would call him and find out when he would be there. She never called me back, she never answered the phone again and now when I call, I always go to the answering machine. I stayed home from work the rest of that day (PTO had to be taken by the way) and he never arrived. I am shocked that a business would be this rude as to not call and let me know that they were not coming over for our appointment. I am sure the nice lady on the phone is extremely embarrassed and had no excuses to give me for Allen. I have still to this day never heard back from this company and I have no intentions of working with a place this flacky and rude.

 + -1 moreThe job ended up being more than what I originally thought. The drain was completely blocked by the street and they fixed part of the problem in the back yard. I've been trying to get in touch with them to have them fix my backyard as well. They all worked hard and carried off everything.

 + -1 moreI contacted this company and explained to them that I needed help with waterproofing my crawl space. I also had rats in the space so I wanted work done to take care of that. I called on a Thursday (June 16th) and the lady answering the phone said they would be in Idaho on a job the next week but they could come out on Tuesday of the following week and would call on Monday to confirm. I didn't get a call on Monday and called Tuesday afternoon. The lady said "oh yes, our job ran long last week". I thought it was odd that they didn't call to tell me they couldn't come Tuesday but asked if they could come out later that week. She said they could come Thursday and she asked if 2:00 would be okay. I said 2:30 would be better and she said they would be there. I left work early and was home long before 2:30. I waited at the house until 4:30 - they didn't show up. Leaving work early costs me money; in addition to loss of income, this was a big waste of time. I'm surprised at this outcome given that the reviews on AngiesList were positive for this company. I've never had contractors no show like this. I understand that things come up and schedules need to be adjusted but to have not been contacted either time is just plain rude. Perhaps their success has caused them to overbook, but common courtesy should never be overlooked in business dealings. I'm looking forward to finding a contractor who will be responsive as well as competent in completing this project.
Description of Work: The owner of this company contacted me and apologized for the scheduling snafu which apparently was based on a communication break-down within the office. He scheduled a time two days later and came out at my convenience. Heck of a nice guy, very thorough. Haven't decided which direction I'll go in to solve the problem but I now have confidence that if I do choose All Service, the job will be done well.

 + 0 moreWe had some water intrusion in the basement of our new house. Most contractors wanted to install an interior French drain, but I wanted to take care of it from the outside. They arrived on time, were courteous and professional, and were exceptionally hard workers. They hand dug the dirt around the foundation so as not to disturb the actual foundation, and were sensitive to the fact that we have children in the house. They blocked off all dangerous areas when they weren't working, and installed plastic over the new egress windows so the stink of the waterproof membrane wouldn't enter the house. There was a very tricky concrete install under the deck, and Alan squeezed under there himself and finished it. They cleaned up very well each day, and were great to work with.
Description of Work: Dig around two foundation walls, apply waterproof membrane. Install two egress windows, install concrete under backyard deck to prevent water intrusion. Grade land away from house. Install a drywell to catch water from new egress windows.

 + 2 moreI received three bids for the work described above and All Service was by far the lowest. The thing that worried me, though is that the estimate took weeks to get. When called them and complained, they apologized and guaranteed that they would be much more responsive in the future. They had their backup estimator bid the job: the price was right, but I knew that their projected timeline for completion (just a few days) was utter nonsense. (Even with a team of workers, the drying time alone for the paint and drywall would take longer than that!) Despite this bad first impression and against the advice of other home-owning friends, I decided to trust them and awarded them the job. From that point on, they busted their tails to impress me and they succeeded! The work they did was beautiful and tight. My wife and I both work from home and even when they were working in the rooms we work from, they went out of their way to make sure we were disrupted as little as possible. It was a little daunting when the work took ten days longer than their estimate but as I noticed, I never believed the original time estimate anyway. (When I spoke to their primary estimator afterward, he was much more accurate.) And even when they ran into unforeseen trouble - like old lead paint in the bathroom - they stuck to their original estimate despite the additional work. All in all, I give All Service good marks and would use them again without hesitation.

 + 0 moreI contacted All Service by e-mail and set up an appointment. Their project manager came to the house right on time and examined the basement wall, both inside and out, and took measurements. He recommended a few things I could do on my own (clean the gutters, redirect the rain barrel overflow or reconnect the downspouts). And then described work that All Star could perform, adding a protective liner to the leaking wall. Later that night I received a detail estimate by e-mail. After I agreed to the work and sent in 1/3 of payment, the office manager set up a schedule for the work crew. The crew did the work in two days-one day to dig out the foundation and apply the first coat the second day to apply a second coat and liner and put dirt back. Crew was hard working and returned the yard back to how they found it. The only delays were due to weather: this work couldn't be done if the weather was too wet and we did get a lot of rain.
Description of Work: Repaired leaking basement wall. Included breaking concrete sidewalk, digging out 4' of foundation in the back of house, repairing cracks in wall, applying a mastic membrane and protective liner, back-filling hole and packing dirt at a slope to divert water away from house.
