Everything went extremely well. I wanted to get the cushions replaced because they were old (over thirty years) and pretty soft, providing little support. I also wanted to replace my polyurethane foam with something healthier so I looked for upholstery businesses that specialize in the use of sustainable and/or natural materials. Acanthus appears to only use such materials. At first I spoke to Anne and asked for the price to replace the foam in the three seat cushions and in the three back cushions. She gave me a price for all six including re-stuffing with natural latex wrapped in wool then covered with an organic cotton cover, all to be put back in the original cushion covers. The price seemed high for all that so I asked her if there were a way to do it for less expense. As we talked, she suggested I first just get the seat cushions done since the back cushions might not need replacing. Then we discussed re-stuffing the cushions without making a new organic cotton cover. I brought in one seat and one back cushion and Anne felt that it wouldn't be necessary to make the cotton cover, as I had fairly durable cushion covers already. She also suggested I not do anything different to the back cushions. With those adjustments, the price was now affordable. I then brought back all three seat cushions a different day. Anne vacuumed and spot cleaned the cushion covers, removed the old foam wrapped in wool and replaced it with very firm natural latex wrapped in my original wool plus some organic cotton that she added (to make the cushion even firmer). The cushions look as good as new and are so much firmer and supportive for my relatively bad back that I'm delighted that I had the work done. Throughout, Anne was extremely helpful and quite willing to make suggestions to make the work more affordable for me even though it meant less money for her business. Overall, an excellent experience.
