They were prompt. They came the day after but they kept me updated as to when they would come. They did a professional job. They seemed to have fixed the problem. I didn't have any expectations and stuff. I can't judge, except that they fixed it up and it looks okay, and it works fine now. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Ability Plus Drainage Co for outside drainage repair and they fixed the problem. A downspout drain was causing leaks in the basement and they re-routed the drainage. So they corrected the original problem with the downspout drainage and tied it into the 5.44.

Greg showed up and gave us a bid and then disappeared. Never returned phone calls from either us or the realtor who recommended him. Don't waste your time with him. Find a contractor who is responsive.
Description of Work: Company was contacted by the realtor to come give us an estimate for solving a crawlspace drainage problem so that we could sell our house. The house sale was dependent on this repair to go through. Greg came on time and took a very quick look at the crawlspace and gave us a bid. Then he was never heard from again. We tried to contact him several times and he NEVER returned a phone call. The realtor who recommended him tried to get him to return our calls and failed. This held up our process and forced us to find another contractor who took his time to really identify the problem, provide a reasonable estimate and did quality work. Skip this guy and go find a responsive contractorl

When the owner Greg came out, it took him about ten minutes to size up the situation and give me a plan of what was involved. He was recommended to me by the inspector I had for the house. He told me exactly what would be done, what he would do for me, and in the next few days I got an estimate. I checked with my inspector, and he said that it sounded good. They went ahead with the work, and did it on schedule in miserable conditions because it was pouring rain. The work was outside and the whole side of the house was just mud. Everything works beautifully now, even with the rain and the snow melting. Regarding the price, I don't have anything really to compare it to. There may be somebody else who might be able to do it for a little less, but this kind of work is labor intensive, and it's expensive, So I think I got a fair price for what was done. There is no doubt, no question, I would use them again if needed.
Description of Work: I last used the services of Ability Plus Drainage Co. on the 23rd of September. They put in a French drain in front of the garage, so that the garage wouldn't flood. They also put in a drain at the side of the house. They rebuilt the walkway so that it slanted just slightly towards the landscaping, rather than towards the house. They also fixed the down spout that had been derelict and not done properly. It was lying across the walkway and we would trip over it while walking and it would fall off. They fixed all that.

Greg Brimhall came out...told us what they would do to stop the leaks, tying into the existing french drain and providing a vapor barrier on the outside of the foundation taking all the way to the corner of the foundation. He provided a reasonable estimate and stayed within that price. Also, was willing to work with us in taking 2 separate payments. His crew was punctual, professional and was extremely clean. After all the work was completed, you couldn't even tell they had been there. We were extremely happy with their quality of workmanship and so far there has been no leakage even after some torrential downpours.
Description of Work: We had leakage into our daylight basement and around our fireplace. Ability Plus came out and dug down under the foundation and around the fireplace. They sealed everything and also went to the corner of the foundation. Also, installing a vapor barrier and digging a french drain and tying into an existing french drain.

Purchased older home with known foundation leakage issues. I put the scope of work above. It was not trivial and we didn't even put a bid in on the house until we had Greg look at it and give us an estimate. When we ended up purchasing the house several months later, he stuck to his bid within dollars of the original estimate. He showed up promptly and his crew worked steadily for approximately 2 weeks. They showed up promptly each morning and worked hard. The excavation to expose the foundation was all done by hand in wet and cold Oregon winter weather. They kept the work site clean and organized. They had to extend the excavation around the corner of the house and did not revise the bid. We had to move in near the end of the work after the majoirty of the work was done and they sent someone out on the weekend so that the newly poured concrete pad's skim could be removed in time so we could use that side of the house for moving in our things the next day. I can't say enough good things about this company. THey not only fixed the known problem but were knowledgeable about how it had arisen, how to fix it and how to reengineer the area at that side of the house to prevent it from reoccuring. Got so much more than our money's worth. Great experience.
Description of Work: 1. Remove concrete slab that has settled toward foundation. 2. Excavate to seal foundation and check footing drain. 3. Re-plumb rain drains and add area drain to collect runoff from concrete slab. 4. Re-pour concrete slab to slope away from foundation. 5. Check East rain drain and footing drain at sump SE corner. Clean and repair as needed.

It went very well -- great workers, smart and honest.
Description of Work: Our wet basement was thoroughly waterproofed by Ability, evidently successfully since it has been nearly three years and it's completely dry no matter what the weather. They dug a trench, another trench outside, resurfaced the concrete ... to tell you the truth I work full time and was not watching them work. The important thing is that the operation was a total success. They came when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves ... we are totally satisfied.

I doubt if there is another company who could have accomplished what these guys did in a sodden, water logged front yard in the middle of winter and actually left the yard looking reasonable good when they were finished. The drainage was a life saver because as we all know it kept raining for the next four to five months, and my house did not float away. Greg is extremely professional and thorough. His workers were polite and reliable. They even helped me carry in my Christmas tree. I HIGHLY recommend Greg Brimhall.
Description of Work: Greg had initially installed drainage around my house about 15 years ago and did a terrific job. The drain in the front yard needed replacement and a few additional modifications were also called for. The water table in my neighborhood is very high and my house is at a low point. The weather this last winter turned my front yard into a swimming pool so I called Greg and he and his trusty workers rode in to the rescue.

His name is Greg Brimhall. I would use him again. He was very quick to respond and his workers worked hard. His bid was less than what other people had told me. He did a good job. He is going to go inside the house and put in a sump drain under the foundation for $1,000-$1200 whenever I am ready. He was pretty punctual. He called me back within two days. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. He corrected what had been done in the past. He explained what was going on and he corrected things. He seemed to know exactly what to do and what not to do. He did the work quickly. He called me back right away every time. It was expensive but I expected it. It was a whole lot of work and it took his guys a whole week to complete the digging.
Description of Work: I used Ability Plus Drainage because I had a flood in my basement and he corrected drainage work that had been previously done.

He seemed to know what he was talking about, and said he was going to "think about" the problems with the house. Who knew he was lying and he had no intention of getting back to me?! I do not recommend companies that fail to return bids; they waste your time.
Description of Work: A big fat "F" for this guy. I had him come over to look at several longstanding and vexing water issue problems including waterproofing my basement and installing a foundation drain. He talked a good talk and I expected good things since he had a high rating on Angie's List. Boy was I mislead. I never got a bid. After about 12 days, I finally called him to ask if he was going to provide a bid. Not only did he NOT provide a bid, but he FAILED to return my call as well. Totally unprofessional and no courtesy whatsoever. And his unprofessionalism has held up my project/process because now I need to contact other contractors to get more bids.

On time start, regular communication on work status and minimal problems. Flexible use of labor and focus on doing the job in a cost conscious and quality manner. Occasional schedule bumps when the weather (heavy rain) caused emergency work for other clients. Overall very competent and trust worthy.

Greg walked us through everything. He followed through with the work quickly. His guys seemed to care and make it happen quickly. We wanted it done right...not fast. So far so good. They did what they promised they were going to do...and so far so good. He also gave us a little bump in the standard 10 year warranty. I think he gave us like 15 years or something. Like I said...so far so good...He picked up all his teams trash...although they were pretty messy during the process. He fixed everything back to how it was...kinda...as best as it could be I guess. In some areas...he left it better than he found it. I would recommend and use him and his team again. Greg B. is a keeper.
Description of Work: Drainage issue on an old 1959 house. Water leaking into basement. They broke up our walkway, added the special paint to the side of the house (below ground) and added the weeping wall thingy and closed it all up. His team also replaced our sewer line. They did a nice job...hopefully the grass will bounce back.

I got three bids, Ability Plus Drainage was the lowest by $500. The work was high quality, was done per our agreement, and was started and completed on the day they said it would be. In addition to the lowest bid, they were able to start the work within a week of accepting the bid. My only minor complaint was that they did take a few days to get back to me after I first called them.
Description of Work: Replaced ~65 feet of buried drain pipe for 3 downspouts along two sides of my home. There were several pretty narrow area's to work in, plus tree roots in one spot, and the last 15 feet was underneath a deck. Due to these factors, all digging was done by hand.

It was a difficult job since our home sits up from the street. Greg was able to determine the extent of our problem quickly and had a crew on it the next day. I wish we had started with him, instead of wasting time and funds on a regular plumber. Not only was he able to camera the problem, but found an old permit showing where all the old lines were located.

It was great! He assessed the problem, gave us a bid and did the work quickly.
Description of Work: Greg assessed the reason for water getting into our basement. He installed a drain field in the back yard and disconnected the downspouts from draining into the sewer. Now the water drains into the drain field and we haven't had any water issues in our basement.

For some time we had noticed a musty odor coming from our crawl space. We felt perhaps we needed to have an inspection since we didn't want to trust to a company that might give us costly, inaccurate advice. We found an inspector recommended on Angie's list and via e-mail he asked us some questions, gave us some instructions and recommended that we call Greg Brimhall of Ability Plus, a drainage specialist who he said was knowledgeable and honest. Greg came to our house promptly for his appointment and having looked around our crawl space with my husband, recommended interior trenching and drain installation. My husband was quite impressed with Greg's knowledge and experience. Greg explained what the procedure would entail and we signed a contract for a two-three day job. A crew of four, headed by Jose, arrived when scheduled and began work. We had been dreading the experience which we knew would call for the crew to tramp through our home to reach a rather inaccessible crawl space entrance. Instead it turned out to be a positive experience. We hardly knew they were working and they were extremely clean and careful. They even went out and purchased additional drop cloths so that our floors would be totally protected. They completed the job in only a day and a half, they did all of the tasks specified in the contract and cleaned out old builder's debris from our crawl space. The work is guaranteed for 5 years. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: They trenched the interior perimeter of the foundation to divert water to the low point drain to prevent ponding water. They installed perforated pipe and river rock to the trench to support a vapor barrier. They regraded the soil around the low point drainage and installed new vapor barrier as needed.

Gregg left a very professional impression. He sent a big crew (5 to 6) to complete the job in 2 1/2 days. Everything was done well and on time.
Description of Work: We had water problems in our crawl space. After the winter with heavy rains, water had seeped into the crawl space and was not draining away. Gregg came and loooked at the problem and recommended digging a trench along the interior perimeter to the lowest point to the backflow valve, install perforated drain pipe with drain rock to the top of the trench. In addition, replace 14 posts where previous water levels had left dark stains at their base as well as installed new vapor barrier throughout. Any debris in the crawl space was removed.

Perfectly. They arrived at the appointed time and a full crew worked two days to finish as quickly as possible. Greg Brimhall was on-site and explained what they were doing and why. The work was messy because of the excavation and testing of the system with water, but they protected all of our plantings and rock paths so that at the end, the work area was pristine.
Description of Work: Improved drainage along the west side of the house. They excavated and removed the old and obviously totally ineffective drainage system. They installed new down spout collection system for two roof down spouts and a separate drain to collect and move water from along the foundation. The foundation was sealed and a drainboard was installed along the wall and the top sealed and flashed. Deep trenches were dug and new rock was poured to facilitate water drainage. They dug two dry wells (the area was never connected to the sewer system), one for each of the new water diversion systems. They the returned the entire work area to its previous surface condition.

We had problems with groundwater leaking into our finished daylight basement. Greg took a look at our drainage situation (house at bottom of hill) and suggested non-nonsense outside drainage measures to help our situation. He made a very knowledgeable impression and didn't try to sell us expensive measures we wouldn't need. He suggested a few things and told us which of those he thought we really needed. We had the option to choose according to our needs (and money). The work itself was done pretty quickly and the workers cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job.

The job lasted 3 days. They started digging the trench around 2 sides of the house on the first day. During the evenings, the dirt was neatly covered with plastic. The renters were very pleased with how pleasant workers were. On the third day I looked at the final work. The dirt was graded nicely and the drainage areas were barely noticeable. Very very pleased.
Description of Work: After getting 3 bids and reviewing the proposed drainage solutions. I picked Ability Plus Drainage Company. During heavy rains, I had water leakage into the crawl space of a rental house. Ability plus, in my opinion had the best solution. They focussed the work on following the house foundation with a french drain on the outside. Then they used the extra soil to create a burm on the front of the house at the foundation. More dirt was used on the back of the house to finish the landscaping. A small shallow sump pump was installed with in the crawl space to catch any additional water.

Greg Brimhall (owner) arrived as scheduled to inspect the problem. He was professional, thorough and efficient suggesting what was the problem and what they would do to correct the issues. Greg is very knowledgeable and communicates the issues very well. They emailed me a quote which was accepted and the work was scheduled. Chuck arrived on time, and spent a day doing the work. He was very fussy about getting the slopes correct so water intrusion into the crawl space would not be an issue. System seems to be working and a wet winter will confirm my suspicion that the problem has been corrected.

Greg arrived on time, took a good look at the problem and diagnosed it correctly. He recommended to tie my downspouts into a solid PVC pipe and carry the water as far away as possible from the house. Since the previous drainage installation work was done by another landscaping company he recommended that I contact them and have it fixed, instead of pushing his own services. He billed us $50 for the estimate and advice, which I think is reasonable and fair.

Greg looked over the problem area, asked lots of questions, and told me what he thought the problem was. There was an overflowing gutter situation and a degradation of the foundation. He told me that if I felt like I was handy, I could fix the gutters myself, and he gave me some pointers of what to do. He gave me a quote on repairing the foundation for approx $1600. It was too high a price for me to handle at the time so I did the gutter fix myself and chose to wait on the foundation repair. I have not had any basement water problems since. I really appreciate Greg giving me advice that ended up fixing the problem without him insisting expensive work needed to be done. Makes me think he is a trustworthy guy!

Overall it went well. Greg came over and checked out the crawl space. He was under the house for maybe 5 minutes and then left saying he would email me an estimate. A day later I got one. I emailed him back a week later and said to go ahead with the job. A couple of days later a guy from the office called to schedule the job. Two guys came over and taped everything. They were cordial and got the job done quickly.
Description of Work: The guys dug a trench around the perimeter of our crawl space, laid gravel and a perforated pipe running to the low point drain. They flushed the drain to confirm that it was working properly.
