Description of Work: Since this is a hardware store, referring to it as a service provider is rather difficult. It's a very good neighborhood supply store, but has a few shortcomings, such as limited stock. Staff is very knowledgeable, though.

Description of Work: The staff at A-Boy in Tigard have been very helpful in several aspects of my remodeling. They have helped me repair plumbing, select appropriate electrical, bath, and kitchen fixtures, and provide useful DIY help.

Description of Work: We were new toilet shopping and wanted to get a particular brand. A-boy didn't have it, but the sales person said they could potentially order it for us. After several days we got a response. It had the brand we were looking for, but at almost 40% more than expected and a listing for a brand they carry at a lower price. We ended up buying want we were looking for on line and had it delivered.

Description of Work: I like to support locally-owned companies like A-Boy, and this store is about the same distance from my house as a Home Depot. Most of the time they offer decent prices and their sales people are helpful, so I generally do much of my hardware shopping here. On my last visit however, I could not find a sales person to answer a question about a specific piece of electrical hardware -- I needed to know which (of about 6 different ones available) replacement ballast I needed for my flourescent lights. I had the dead unit with me but I couldn't decipher the specs listed on it compared to what was listed on the boxes on their shelf. When I finally did track down a sales guy he said "just check the specs on the box" and walked away -- not my idea of helpful -- If I could do that I wouldn't have asked for help! It was late and I didn't want the hassle of going somewhere else so I took a chance -- luckily I found the right unit and my lights are working fine. In the future though I'll be a lot more prone to hit Home Depot or Lowe's first! Another annoyance about A-Boy is the sales people for Penguin Windows who wander about the store asking if you'd like a free window analysis at your home. I had a pretty unpleasant experience with that company -- they are masters of the haranging hard-sell -- and want nothing to do with them; I find it disappointing that A-Boy wants anything to do with them either.

Description of Work: They are a cross between a mom and pop plumbing store.

Description of Work: They recommended products and helped design my new bathroom. They also helped find the plumbing, lighting, tub, sinks, tile and hardware needs for the job.

Description of Work: We are replacing all of the shut off valves in our house. We had initially purchased our valves from another hardware store, but found A-Boy's selection to be of higher quality.

Description of Work: I had checked three different sources before deciding to go with A-Boy. My decision was not based on price, it was based on the quality of the experience I had with them. The day that the water heater installer showed up, he was punctual and ready to do the work. He removed our old water heater and quickly replaced it with the new one. He knew exactly what he was doing and explained throughout the cause behind the problems we were having with our old water heater. Our use of that water heater has confirmed what he described.

Description of Work: WE ordered a custom made shower door and a toilet with various accessories.

Description of Work: Water Heater purchased at A-Boy. Installation was done by Columbia Contracting Services, Inc. New gas water heater was installed with new plumbing connectors and gas line. Water heater was strapped to wall as per code. Water heater was checked for gas leaks and temperatures set. Old water heater was removed.
