When I woke up this morning, I discovered that there was no water pressure in my house. When I checked the well pump, I found that it would not operate. At 7:30 am, I called, and Dan arrived in less than half an hour. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. I particularly appreciated that he didn't sell me a new pump, as I wouldn't have known the difference. A year earlier, he had installed a pressure tank for us, and did an excellent job.

I contacted the company and requested a bid on repairs to my well/pump system. I spoke with Dan, and he informed me that there would be a $75 charge to come to my home and diagnose the problem. At first I accepted this and made an appointment. In the course of seeking repairs, I contacted other well/pump companies who came to my home, diagnosed the problem and provided a written bid to complete the work, without charge to me. When Dan called to confirm the appointment, I discussed the policies of the other well companies, and he refused to provide me with a bid, unless I paid him the $75 fee for diagnosis. I have already determined the exact problem through my own research and from the information and bids provided by the other well companies.. When I explained this to Dan, his request was for me to give him the charges the other companies had provided, and he would see if he could match or do it for less. I responded I thought this was a poor business practice and refused to give information from other companies. Dan was rude and unprofessional in his tone of voice, as well as his conduct. In a tight economy, I wish to be an informed consumer, and aware of what the contractor will do, what parts will be used, and expect to have courteous, respectful service. This is not what I experienced with American Pump and Spa and would not recommend anyone doing business with them.

Dan arrived to appointments when set or called to say he would be late or he needed to reschedule because a existing job was taking longer than expected. Dan was very good at communication and confirming pump was working as expected even after installation was complete. Also had everything he needed in his truck so once he started he didn't need to leave until project was completed.
