The owner came by to take measurements and was going to get us a bid the following week. He did not call. I followed up and he was going to bring us the bid a couple days from then. Called me 1/2 hr. before was scheduled to arrive and said he was no longer going to do the bid. His reasoning was that he did not think we were going to hire him, he has been doing so many bids and not getting the business. My response was that it is impossible to get business with that attitude.
Description of Work: Bid for 2 level composite deck with railings. Approx 500 sq ft.

I DID GO OUT TO THE HOME OWNERS RESIDENCE AND WHILE DOING THE TAKEOFF WAS APPROACHED BY THE HOMEOWNER WHO ASKED ME IF I COULD DO THE PROJECT IN 4 DAYS. "IT WAS A 2 WEEK JOB" I TOLD HER THAT AND I DID NOT WORK FOR SPEED AS MUCH FOR QUALITY AND SHE SAID THAT ANOTHER COMPANY HAD TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD DO IT IN 4 DAYS. AFTER A FEW DAYS I CALLED HER BACK AND TOLD HER THAT I WAS NOT INTERESTED IN DOING THE PROJECT. I WILL ADMIT THAT MY RESPONSE TO HER WAS ACCURATE. WHAT I DIDN'T TELL HER WAS I VERY SELDOM GET PROJECTS REQUIRING SPEED OVER WORKMANSHIP (MOST OF THE TIME YOU ONLY GET ONE). AS A CONTRACTOR, SERVICE PROVIDER, AND A HUMAN BEING I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE IF I WANT TO WORK WITH A PARTICULAR CLIENT OR NOT. MY DECISION IN THIS MATTER WAS BASED ON PRACTICALITY - WHERE TO SPEND PRECIOUS TIME - AND SPENDING IT ON A CLIENT THAT WAS LOOKING FOR A SPEED JOB DIDN'T MAKE SENSE. SHE SHOULD HAVE JUST CUT HER LOSES AS MANY CONTRACTORS WHEN A CLIENT DECIDES NOT TO USE THEM AND HIRE THE "4 DAY MAN" INSTEAD. AFTER ALL ISN'T THAT WHAT SHE WANTED ANYWAY...

Matt was very personable and knowledgeable. There was no pressure. His price was in line with other bids. His men were hardworking, and the job site was always tidy at the end of the day. Matt was easy to communicate with and was available. I would recommend this company without reservations.
Description of Work: Demolition and removal of old deck. Install framing and composite decking. Create access hatches for oil port and crawl space.
