Once Ben committed to a start date on this project, everything when well. We are very aware that good subcontractors cannot always meet every ideal date. We were willing to be flexible because we believe there is a difference between a fast job and an excellent job. We got the excellent job. Although it is difficult to be without a kitchen for weeks, the wonderful job at the end was worth the wait. Custom kitchens in older home are not easy.

He was a great guy, very reliable and patient with us. We ended up not getting the service because of cost, although I do believe his cost was reasonable, we just could not afford it that time. I would call him again if needed.

Not as well as it could have. We have gone through several extensive remodels, and understand all the problems and issues that can arise. Yet in this case, there were problems related to job planning (too many unnecessary surprises, too short of notifications for decisions, not living up to design/build capabilities, etc.), job quality (in workmanship and attention to detail; also permanently marred our HVAC zoning system), and cost over-runs (largely related to unforeseen problems that should have been seen, as well as downplaying costs that later turned out to be more than expected). The main problem is this...as the job ended, we decided not to hire this contractor to remodel our attic, as we no longer trusted his capacity to meet the quality and complexity challenges of the attic. We hired another firm that did a fabulous job in dealing with a very difficult workspace. The contractor developed an attitude problem, did not complete punch list items (we paid another contractor to do them), left us with some ongoing problems, and has not responded to issues that have arisen that were part of his warranty. For example, recently, a cabinet door came off, revealing poor quality workmanship (6 very thin, flimsy nails holding it on), and the contractor was unresponsive to e-mails. We again hired another contractor to fix his problems. We also have an electrical problem, likely a code violation, that he has ignored. We waited two years to write this review. The contractor is a nice guy, but we believe he does not live up to the mission statement/value proposition he has on the Angie's List site regarding the relationship he wants to have with customers. We had hoped he would come around in attitude.

This is a 100 years old house. There were some surprises. After the upstairs bath was completed, there was an unexpected leak in an old drainage line that his crew had not worked on. They stayed very late so that they could leave us with one functional toilet. Mr. Meoak was a pleasure to work with at all times. His crew was courteous and always cleaned up. We were so satisfied with not only the workmanship but also the fairness of the pricing that we plan on a major kitchen remodel with him early in 2015. Since we were doing so much plumbing for baths, Mr. Meoak encouraged us to go ahead and redo all the old plumbing. We are glad that we did so.

I would recommend Ben Meoak to anyone who wants to have work done on their home. The quality of the work was the best, and he accommodated my budget and time frame. He also is a very nice guy to deal with. We collaborated on designing a surround for my fireplace, and it is beautiful!

Great! Little jobs like this always seem simple, but end up with tiniest things that cause headaches. The guys were friendly, on time and cleaned up after they left.

The job was done neatly and looks great. Coordinating was a little confusing but to be honest we live out of town so that may be on us. We had to do the bid twice because we wanted to use the never rot materials and he bid for fir. Once we ironed out the details the job moved quickly. I would use him again for his work was what I expected.

So far the project is going very well. All the workers are polite, patient and competent. Remodeling is always more involved than new construction. At every stage , the contractor has included me in any adjustments having to be made. He is a pleasure to work with and I trust his judgement completely. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any job..small of large. The other projects mentioned above were completed to my complete satisfaction. I love this company!!!!!!
