Scheduled work to start in June 2017. They had us move out for 3 weeks. We came back on the 9th day to check on things and found all the lights on, and all the shades open. The security alarm showed that no one had been in the house for 5 days. They made it pretty obvious that no one was home and everyone could see my fridge on display in the great window of the living room. My video cam showed them repeatedly throwing debris across my front yard. I met the GW PM twice in my home and then his contractors did their work unsupervised. He did not return until we came back and gave him the punch list. 1. Baseboards no longer seamless. Nail holes, overhangs, gaps. Someone came to work on them but didn't finish. 2. Chips in the counter above the dishwasher. Polished out. 3. Bathroom pipe from wall to toilet was bent. They said it came that way. 4. Who will put the refrigerator back in its rightful spot without scratching the floor? 5. There appears to be a big chip in the floor behind the fridge. 6. There is paint on the bathroom faucet and handles. 7. Who will install the access panel to the water main in the closet? 8. Who will stain the trim to match the shelf I gave you? 9. Please don't forget to bring the shelf I gave you. 10. There are several snags in the carpet. Not sure if I should just cut them off, or something else needs to be done. I'm worried if I cut them that it will start unraveling even more. 11. The closet where the initial damage was is still incomplete. 12. 13. Door stop on laudryroom trim not replaced. These attached pictures are from the walkthrough after they finished the the repairs and remodel in June/July 2017, which resulted in the punchlist above. I told the GW PM that I felt like the the home was worse off than when we gave it to them in the areas outside of the closet where the water main damage was. After many many months, the punchlist was finally completed, but we had to settle for a different wood finish than we had before. The new one was less resilient to water, and it was matte, not gloss. I questioned whether they put the sealant on top of the finish and it took about 6 months of negotiating and repeated visits by different insurance and GW people. It was never resolved and we terminated the agreement and our insurance with Nationwide.
Description of Work: Hardwood repair after cracked pipe leak in April 2017. Included sanding, staining, trim removal and replacement, carpet removal and replacement, and paint where trim and walls were damaged.

Finish carpenters dragged a metal-legged compressor on 2 day-old brand new hardwood maple floors leaving scratches in Great Room, powder room, and hallway, then said to repair the scratches, they'd have to move all furniture out again, so I let them off with $1000 because it's been six months of chaos; their movers knocked a hole in my sheetrock downstairs, repaired it, but it will require new paint; they left my garage door halfway up and door to inside of house wide open with heat cranked up to 90 during 38 degrees trying to dry sheetrock in garage; painters forgot to paint hall closet and some baseboards, they hit a newel post and severely bent a wrought iron baluster in expensive new (4 month old) stairwell railing; they slid a heavy object on new wall railing causing a rippling and chip out; the finish is ground off king bed footboard in master suite where I believe they worked on canned lights, but did not move the sleep number bed; caused dents and chips in finish woodwork in kitchen and under granite counter; their carpenters washed wood chips down driveway drain plugging it, causing flooding and tossed wood debris over retaining wall along with discarded wood cuts and tossed a pair of blue work booties into side yard under a rhododendron; sheetrock guys washed their mud down driveway drain plugging it and causing flooding; 2 windows in Great. Room were jammed by painters and required repair by a window contractor. No one from Great Western EVER gave notification of the myriad of damages they caused and did not apologize until general manager was continuously confronted with workers' careless, shoddy behavior. This has been a six-month nightmare. My home owner's insurance company has stepped in to oversee their completion of work. (They do use a subcontractor electrician named Ben who is highly professional and does excellent work.) I had Great Western remove their lock box on front door, and refused to allow their contractors back in my home without my presence. We are now at the point of settling the differences and except for a "whistling" which happens in the wood floors when walking in a hallway to the bedroom, we're done. I will NEVER use their services again.
Description of Work: Frozen pipe burst, needed complete renovation of hardwood floors, painted inside nearly all (main floor) upstairs, replaced canned lighting, sheetrocked wall, moved my furniture, clean up after work.
