Description of Work: Our car's engine was stuttering when cold and when under load at low RPMs (climbing Oregon City's many hills). The easy place to start is the ignition system with vacuum leaks being the second choice. I'm in the middle of starting my own business and my time is too valuable at the moment to do the work myself so I took the car to Dan's on a Thursday at 2pm to have them do the work. |I received a call on Friday afternoon expecting to hear that it was ready for pickup. Instead I was told that they were having trouble diagnosing the problem and needed to keep it over the weekend. Monday I received a call around 1PM stating that they felt that they had diagnosed the trouble and asking permission to order parts. Tuesday another call saying that they needed to order more parts and that the car should be back to me by Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday (six days later!) the car was returned to me and was running well again. |So what took them six days to diagnose and repair? The problem was the ignition system. The coil had gone bad and the spark plugs needed replacement. That's it. I could have diagnosed and done that work in 4 hrs with parts that are in stock at all times at my local Autozone! Instead they pursued and spent the bulk of their time trying to diagnose a problem with the fuel delivery system and I was charged for their ineptitude and was without a car for nearly a week as they fumbled around misdiagnosing the true (and simplest) explanation. |Avoid this shop!

Description of Work: I get my car serviced at Dan's Automotive. They last inspected a vehicle for me and a used car that I bought. They have done service work and just maintaining three cars for me.

Description of Work: They were a bit pricey, but they fixed my radiator quickly and efficiently. I think I would go here again if I didn't have time to research other more cost-effective options. The owner is very nice and I didn't feel like they were taking advantage of my lack of auto knowledge. This is a good choice for high-quality repair.

 + -1 moreOur most recent experience was my husband's; he brought his jalopy in to have a strange noise diagnosed. He was told that the car was safe, but on its last legs. He could spend lots of money fixing lots of things, and it would still not have much longer on this earth. We were impressed, as we have both had mechanics over the years who are more than willing to fix every little thing (including things that don't need fixing) no matter what. So I definitely recommend Dan's.
Description of Work: My husband and I have both brought our cars (both Fords, about 10 years old) to Dan's since moving to Oregon City 5 years ago. We have had various things done, and have both been pleased with the work. More importantly, we feel that Dan's is an honest place--we are told what things will cost and they cost that amount. We are told why a part may be long in coming. I was told about a few parts my car needed replaced and why (Ford cheaped out and used plastic).

 + -1 moreWe think they are a bit pricey but they seem very good. We had it towed out there the other morning and they had it done by the afternoon. They did the job, they did it quickly, and they are there when you need them. We might be a little more careful about a price quote if we have time and don't have to find somewhere to tow our car right away.
