Cliff Townsend Masonry Inc

From the start Cliff had attention to detail and expertise that the two other masons we asked to bid on the project did not convey. He pointed out potential issues and provided suggestions/solutions prior to starting the project and as it evolved. Outside of weather delays, Cliff was punctual and for the most part responsive to numerous calls as the project progressed and coordination with other contractors was needed. Feedback from our builder was also positive towards Cliff. The structure is complete and we are very happy with the finished product.

The work was of fair quality. There was some imperfection in lining up the tiles, and when we approached Mr. Townsend with our preferences he was defensive and argumentative. He was also disrespectful of his hired Latino help, and one of the helpers walked off the job because of it. The grouting job was inferior, and I did another coat myself to bring the grout up the the tile level. Mr. Townsend did not do a good job cleaning up after himself. He left items behind for me to dispose of and didn't clean up the mess on my front porch left from the mortar.

We hired a different company to enlarge the opening in a brick wall for a larger wall oven. They made a huge mess, and didn't even get it done. Cliff made time to come inspect the job, and give us an estimate, and then come back that weekend to make it right. He took the extra time to setup a 'tent' around the work site to prevent getting brick and mortar dust all over the house. (The previous company did not.) He is very knowledgeable and conscientious. He explained what he was doing, and how the previous company had left things in a dangerous state. He removed all the debris and left our house perfectly clean. When he was done the over fit perfectly, and it looked great! For all that he didn't even charge as much as the company the messed it up. I will use him for all our future masonry jobs!
