Affordable Hot Tub Repair

I've used Scott a few times in the past. His repairs earlier were fine, but I don't think his price was that affordable. Earlier, I developed a leak in my hot tub, and he wanted to rip out all the insulation to find it which would have likely been over a thousand dollars and was probably more than the spa was worth. His come back always is how much I'd have to pay for a new spa, so his repairs are a bargain to him. I declined and found some leak stop liquid on Amazon that worked great at about $15. He wasn't too happy with this, and it bothered me that he never mentioned this as an option. Recently, I found my recirculating pump was going out, and there were a number of videos on this on YouTube as far as figuring out what was wrong and on doing the repair. I had initially called him, but he didn't get back to me right away which led me to search YouTube. When I did hear from him, he told me he wouldn't come out if I tried to do any work on my own. He said it was better this way. I told him I'd be willing to pay to fix anything I might screw up, but I'd like to try to repair things myself, if I can. He would have nothing to do with it even after the work I paid him well for doing in the past. I told him that was quite an attitude he had which felt very much to me like an elitist approach to treating customers. Well, he's not the only repair person in town, so I'll not ever use or consider him again. I felt like he didn't appreciate me as a customer, and his appreciation was more for his business, not mine.

Scott does excellent work and is incredibly professional and honest. We would recommend him to anyone!

While I was close to hanging up on him, he told me that groups that do this work charge about the same. That if I was unhappy with the other service Company pricing, I would not like his.

He did not perform any services, as he is apparently not interested in gaining new business.

It went real well. He was able to circumvent a switch on the heater that shuts it down if it detects a flow problem. It's a redundant switch, so I really didn't need it. However, the only way to fix it is to buy a new heater which is expensive at about $800 including labor. He asked what I would prefer, and I went with the easy way out. He then tested, adjusted, and gave me training on how to do a better job on the spa chemistry. Turns out I shouldn't have listened to the spa dealer on how to set the chemistry.

Our hot tub had no power and cool water when we returned from vacation in early December. Scott Eaves suggested something needed to be done quickly to avoid major problems with the outside temperature in the high 20's and heading into the low teens over the next few days. The following day Scott came to our house and diagnosed water heater failure. He spent at least 10 hours working mostly in the dark with temperatures in the low 20's removing the defective water heating unit, installing a replacement and modifying some of the tub's plumbing. As mentioned the tub is 13 years old and it now works better than it has in years. Based on our experience my wife and I would definitely recommend Scott Eaves and Affordable Hot Tub Repair.

He told me that he could nickel and dime me for every little component or bundle it together and gut and redo everything for $2000 that included a $95 trip. In two weeks he came back out to do it and hauled away an old hot tub cover for free. Late it popped the reset button, and the button wasn't in a location where I could see it and pop it back in. I called him and he didn't charge me a service call even though Salem is a good 45 minutes to an hour away. The other places I called had service calls more than his.
