Nadav Shaham is the owner of Quality Tile and is an "old school" master tile setter who takes no shortcuts when he does a tile job. He did beautiful work on the shower enclosure and the glass tile around the kitchen. The shower had been poorly installed in 1998 and shortly after we moved into the house in 2011 we noticed that it was leaking and damaging the ceiling below. Although we had the house inspected prior to purchase, this problem had not been detected. It takes a while to properly install a custom shower when a pre-formed shower pan cannot be used. The contractor has to pay particular attention to the construction of the cement layers of the pan itself, and in fitting the membrane far enough up the sides of the enclosure to ensure no leaks develop. This is not something that can be done in one or two days because each layer of cement used in the pan and each layer of waterproof coatings must dry before the work can go on. It was not inconvenient for us to have our bathroom shower unavailable for the two weeks of work because we had another full bath on the same floor we could use for showering. Overall, the job took about ten days. We wanted to use beach shells collected over the years for a unique shower enclosure floor design, so while Nadav did the preparation, we laid out the design for the shower floor on a large piece of cardboard cut to the same dimensions as the enclosure. When he was ready to lay the floor, he placed our design near by and transferred the design piece-by-piece into the wet grout. Each afternoon when Nadav and his helper finished work for the day, they thoroughly cleaned up the work area. They also used drop cloths and laid heavy paper or drops in the traffic areas to protect the carpeting and to make clean-up easier. When they were doing the demolition of the shower enclosure, or otherwise creating dust, they would tape Visqueen across the door to contain the particulate matter in the immediate area and, additionally, used vacuums to keep it from spreading into the rest of the house. Nadav is pleasant to work with and we felt confident in trusting he would account fairly for his time and materials. We will not hesitate to call him again.
