"Rick was able to come out the next day to install our dishwasher and microwave. He arrived promptly, was very respectful of our house and quickly and professionally installed both appliances. He was very friendly and was a pleasure to work with. Rick also does remodels and I am confident that he would be just as meticulous on a remodel. We will definitely keep his information for future projects."

Appliances questions, answered by experts

There are a number of factors that make an item difficult to recycle, but it often comes down to mixed materials. Any item you can’t leave on your curb for recycling pickup is likely considered an item difficult to recycle. Common examples of items considered difficult and require special handling or other recycling arrangements are tires, appliances using freon, batteries, and compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs).

Items include refrigerators, washers, dryers, and stoves. Confirm with your provider for specific items.

While they’re historically different, the two terms are interchangeable in the contemporary world. Nowadays, both stoves and ranges refer to the combination of a cooktop and an oven. The cooktop is sometimes referred to as the “stovetop.” Modern stoves and ranges are powered by either gas or electricity and last 13 to 15 years on average.

If you want to save money on the cost of kitchen appliances, opt for basic color options like black or white. Stainless steel is usually a mid-range option; prices have come down somewhat now that it’s so widely available. Expect to spend the most for custom or bold colors, like a pink fridge or a gold-toned stove.

Some of the most common microwave repair problems include magnetron failure and a plate that won’t spin. When a magnetron fails, the microwave won’t efficiently heat your food—a frustrating albeit common experience. Meanwhile, a plate that doesn’t spin won’t thoroughly heat food, even if the magnetron works.
