The workmen who came to my home spent more time trying to convince me that I needed a $2,500 chimney liner replacement than doing the work I'd contracted them for. They informed me that the problem I'd been experiencing with my woodstove was due to the partial liner I had. The majority of their work effort was spent in gluing the stove facing together and riveting the two pieces of it together. They glued a decorative faceplate (that they had removed) over an air intake vent for the stove fan. They spent less than 5 minutes on my roof cleaning the stove and never pulled the insert all the way out of the fireplace area. They did not vacuum the fireplace nor clean out the inside of the wood stove. I was very unhappy with their work, their attitude toward me (which was condescending), and their price. For what they did, they asked far too much money, in my opinion.
Description of Work: Two men came to my home to clean my chimney and wood stove insert. They did not pull the wood stove completely out of the fireplace. They did not clean out the inside of the wood stove or clean the door. They spent a minimal amount of time cleaning the chimney and never vacuumed any area. Within two months of their "cleaning", I had a chimney fire, and when I informed the owner of this I was told that chimney fires were due to creosote buildup, which he stated chimney cleaning could not remove. He informed me that the only way to remove creosote build up was to burn it out, and that it couldn't be removed by chimney sweeping.
