Groth Gates Heating & Sheet

We had a technician come out to replace a part on our furnace. We asked him the price on the part before he replaced it. He went out to his truck and came back in with the box and said the part was $10. It took him one hour to replace the part. He spent another half hour trying to sell us on a heat pump. We received a bill with a total amount of $250 - no break down whatsoever. When we called we learned that we were being charged, 2 hours service time and $58 for the part. We disputed the charges and were told that either we pay the entire bill or we'll be sent to collections. They refused to send us an itemized bill. We were sent to collections the next day. We will be reporting this business to the BBB and will see them in small claims court. Make sure to look up reviews on other sites regarding this company. They have a history of unethical business practices. Use ANY other company - this place is fraudulent!

Showed up as scheduled, even coordinated with the electrician so he was here at the same time as they were so the work could be coordinated. Work was completed in under the estimated time and with high quality, including cleaning up after the job was complete. Sales person worked closely with me to make sure I was getting all possible discounts and the best value for my money.

Great service. Water heater broke and we had no hot water. Groth Gates was able to schedule an appointment for the next business day. Showed up on time, correctly diagnosed the problem and had the correct water heater replacement valve on their truck. Did a great job. Very professional. Would definitely recommend.

This is the second time we have used this company. Last time they overcharged us on labor by 50% so on this service call we recorded the time they came into the condo and the time they left. It was 44 minutes. When we received the bill we were charged for 90 minutes. The same scenario as their last visit. It makes me wonder about their business integrity. In the future we will try other companies for this work.

The work was fine. But we were charged for 1.5 hours while the technician was only there about 45 minutes. I'm assuming they have a one hour minimum but they still exceeded that by a factor of 50%. They will be returning in about a month to replace a part that needed to be ordered. I will post how that service call goes.

Great. They arrived on time, had the system installed and job site cleaned up in less time than they had estimated. They explained how it worked, use of the remote, and demonstrated any regular maintenance that would be needed. Later they helped fill out the forms for Energy trust and the Oregon Tax Credit, mailed them, and sent me the copies.

The workmen showed up on time. They had the new system installed and everything cleaned up in less time than they had estimated. After the installation I was shown how to do any required maintenance. Groth Gates helped me fill in the paperwork for the rebates, mailed the originals to Energy Trust and Oregon Dept. of Energy, and sent me copies. This system was put in a rental unit. The tenant had gotten called into work before the system was finished and missed being shown the maintenance. I contacted the renter a couple of weeks later to get together and show him what maintenance needed done. He told me the first one had already been done. Someone came by and showed him how to do it. Groth Gates going that extra step to make sure the person actually living there had the information they needed really impressed me.

They don't return your calls when there a problem. I didn't get a written bid for the job that was my fault. I thought sense Angies list had good reviews I be safe I was wrong. I will never refer or use this company again.

I liked the people they sent out to bid the job, and the people that did the installation. They were timely, and they stuck to the bid they gave. They were no problems, and everything went smoothly.

We asked Groth-Gates to service our 21 year old furnace in a house that we recently purchased. The furnace had been neglected over the years and was filthy. The service was quoted at $158, which is what they charged. The additional charge was for a part that needed replacing. The serviceman was professional, polite and knowledgable. I will use them again in the future for duct cleaning and future furnace services.

Jeff's very thorough and took a lot of time to explain things. They've done other repairs and service work on the in-floor system. Jeff really did his research to make sure he was getting things done correctly.

They have been servicing us for a number of years. They were very quick to figure out the problems and take care of it. They tend to me a little bit expensive.

We got home from vacation and our home was very cold. We could not get the furnace to operate. Of course it was a weekend. They offered to come over at time and half but suggested if we could hold on that they could do the work on Monday for us. We chose Monday. They were delayed but called to tell us. Then they opened the system, saw the filter was very dirty, adjusted some other issues and spent about 1 hour in total.
