 + -1 moreMr Ouellette crawled under our living room floor and we discussed the current structural layout. He proposed that we might add additional beam supports to create a more rigorous design and avoid a "spongy" feeling when walking across certain areas. He then wrote a report outlining his suggestions for improving the floor and included the calculations for determining the performance of the final raised floor. In addition, he recommended a contractor for resolving both the living room floor and patio roof issues. Bottom line ..... Very professional work with timely submission of project report. Would highly recommend Ouellette Engineering for evaluation of structural issues pertaining to residential buildings.
Description of Work: I wanted a structural engineer to review the status of our "sunken" living room prior to our plan to raise the floor to coincide with the level of the rest of our house. This was important because we have a very heavy grand piano that could create a structural problem if the floor design was inadequate. Another issue of interest involved the sagging roof over a concrete patio attached to our house.

 + -1 moreJay was terrific, and gave us exactly the detailed examination we'd hoped for. He was right on time and took more time than we expected to look inside and outside our house -- he even clambered deep into a crawl space to look at the foundation footings and the soil. He was friendly, detailed and reassuring. We would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Jay came to look over our great old house and make sure our foundation was still sound and solid.
