Absolutely worst customer service we have ever experienced with a vendor. Anytime there is an issue their techs miss scheduled appointments and there is no sense of urgency to any work they do. They have been our vendor for numerous years and it is always a struggle to get them to show up in Grants Pass to troubleshoot any issue. We depend on our security system and they treat it like it’s just an optional service. I would never recommend them to any business who relies on their security system. Whether it’s because of our location or if they are overloaded and understaffed…service shouldn’t be like this!
Description of Work: Service their system when it is down and non-operational.

We had SOS install our alarm system in the city last year. We used them because they are a local company. At that time no installation cost was charged. They require a 3 year contract. We have since moved to a smaller town in the same county. At the time I called to let them know about the move, I asked the person that I talked with, if there would be an re-installation charge or if we could have the buyers of our house assume the cost. I was told initially that the re-installation cost would be free of charge, OR that there would only be a permit charge along with our monthly service charge. I was told that the transfer fee to the new owners would be $70. Since the charge to move the system, I was told, would be less than having the buyers assume it, we opted to have it relocated to our new house. 3 weeks after the system was removed from the old resisidence, the sales person came to get the new installation set up. We were told that the re-installation charge would be $134. This was NOT what I was told initially on the phone. The salesman called his boss, and the boss lowered the cost to $99, but said we would need to pay the $45.50 monthly charge even though we had no alarm. Of course no one who valued their job, would admit to having given out the wrong information. This was just a numbers game as $99 and $45 was the same as the installation charge we were quoted in the first place. We were not happy.mto say the least. The salesman left with the promise that he would "look into everything further and get back to us." Several more weeks went by before he called back. In the meantime we were being charged not one but TWO monthly fees and had no alarm system. When the salesman came back out, he said he was sorry, and that our paperwork had gotten mislaid. He was visably nervous as he had us sign the transfer paperwork. We felt we had no recourse as we were in a contract. When the installer came, he said to just "call and the accounting office would remove one of the $45 charges. I did, and was told, "you signed the contract." As a side note, two of their people just GUESSED when I asked, as to what law enforcement sector would respond in an emergency. " I THINK it would be the Sherrifs Office, and it will take them at least 10'minutes." Hmmm. We have great credit, we pay on time, and this is honestly how we were treated. If they say differently, they are lying. This company is fine as long as you pay their bill, but I would never, EVER recommend them, due to HORRIBLE customer service. Go to a national company. At least maybe you'll get some straight answers.

I have SOS service. But I have Charter phone. The phone occasionally quits working at night and sends my horns blaring thru the house. The operator at SOS told me they could send someone out to fix it so I wouldn't hear the alarm when that happens. BUT the repairman told me if he did what the service order requested it would defeat my whole alarm system! So who is right? Thank goodness I didn't have him do it cause I would be paying for nothing I guess!
Description of Work: The service was cancelled by the repairman...details below.

Response from SOS ALARM CO
Thank you for your review. To answer your question, both the operator and the technician were somewhat correct. I will try to explain without getting too technical or revealing anything about your security system. In essence, you have a device that is reacting to the fluctuations in the Charter phone service. This device is designed to normally work with a traditional copper telephone line. At some point since this system was installed in your home you have switched your phone service from a traditional copper telephone line to a Charter internet based phone service. The device is functioning properly but because of the manner in which Charter services their network (usually in the middle of the night) the device will activate occasionally. The operator that you spoke with is correct that you could potentially eliminate this device and the nuance that it is creating leaving the rest of the system would functioning properly. The technician was also correct, eliminating this device would eliminate its particular functionality and the features and benefits that it brings to the system, though the rest of the system would continue to work normally. Please feel free to call into our office and ask for the service manager with any further questions about this. 541-773-3900

Description of Work: After burglary at our tenants' house, we sought installation of this company's system. Sales strung us along in supplying us with documents to sign as we the owners were not town. We finally withdrew from the contractual relationship when the sales person failed to set an appointment for installation in a reasonable time and was actually dishonest about his efforts to do so.

This reviewer is well outside of the service area covered by SOS Alarm. SOS Alarm currently installs in Southern & Central Oregon only. There are however, other companies in other areas of the United States with very similar names. This reviewer is likely referring to one of those companies.

Bought a new house and wanted to have an alarm installed. After talking to several friends who local law enforcement officer, every single one recommended SOS over every other. They stated the difference was huge since SOS has a local call center. Had rep out for a consultation and quote and had alarm installed about a week later. The two men that came out went above and beyond. Not only were they VERY considerate of my personal property, but they were in and out fast. Poor guys were calling around in my attic on a 100+ degree day. They showed me how to use the system before they left and spent another 15 minutes answering my "stupid" questions. The next day I had a question and called the call center. A real human being was on the other end and answered my question. This happened several times the first couple of weeks. I had a few false alarms and the phone rang immediately to check on my status. The alarm went off once while I was away. They called my cell phone after no answer on my home phone. They had already dispatched the police department to my home, but after determining it was the hallway motion detector most likely set off by my dogs, I had them cancel the response and I headed home. Sure enough, it was the dogs. This company has been very responsive to my needs and quesitons. Feel very safe in my house!
Description of Work: Complete alarm system installed. Windows, doors and hallway motion sensor (chest height due to dogs)
