+ 0 moreShe showed up on time, and spent almost 3 hrs. working on the project. She was clear and fair about her price for the consultation. She made herself available for any additional questions and concerns we may have. We have used her several times over the last 10 years. Once for a formal landscape design, and she has consulted with us three or four other times. She has given us good ideas for both hardscapes and plants. She has always been clear and fair with us, and we have always been pleased with what we got from her. She is clearly an experienced, creative professional landscape designer. We will use her again.
Description of Work: She is a landscape designer. We asked her to give us some ideas for designs and plants for our apartment complex. She met with us at the complex and made several suggestions for designs and plants. She also referred us to a few installers for the irrigation and hardscape.

Karen provided an excellent landscape design following the criteria we specified. She also offered her expertise based on her extensive knowledge of plants and artistic design. She was a pleasure to work with, followed through in a timely manner, was very professional, efficient and effective. The project was completed within budget. Description of Work: All she did was come over to take a look at the project and give me some ideas. We had discussed on the phone that I needed a landscape contractor to complete this job and she assured me that could be arranged. I told her not to bother with my yard if she couldn't get the workforce to complete the job but she insisted on coming over "for free" and checking it out. Turns out I would have to subcontract all the work myself, she picked my yard apart (and it is lovely) AND she charged me $75 just to come over and give me an estimate - which she imagined would be around $20,000 - way over my budget. All she does is the design - which is outrageously expensive - even by Southern California standards. Her lack of integrity in saying she wouldn't charge for coming over (and she insisted on wanting to take a look at the yard) then charging for an estimate was the final straw. She was not true to her word. I would never hire someone who just does the design anyway because I need someone with a contractor's license. No landscape architect or contractor has ever charged me to come over, look at the project, and give me a bid. It's unheard of!

+ -1 moreKaren was prompt, responsive, and truly interested in designing something that was beautiful, long lasting and easy to maintain. I think almost everyone in the neighborhood has come by to comment on our yard and to ask who did the work. We'll be hiring Karen to do our backyard before Spring gets here.
