This company is a BIG BEWARE. DECEPTIVE SCAM COMPANY. After the work was done and I called to complain, Alan (the project manager) came to inspect and by their own admission, saw that the work had been done improperly. Here are a few of many many many things this deceptive company did. I have pictures to substantiate every claim made. We have since had all this work completed by a reputable and honest company and I have witnessed with my own eyes all of these conditions left behind by McMurray and Sons. This company took every cheating short cut they could and left us with a complete mess. They are dishonest, unskilled, and deceitful. Here is a direct quote from the contract we had with them: "We are a NADCA certified specialist and our company uses the most advanced Air Duct Cleaning System available." After McMurray completed all of the jobs twice because even by their own admission, things had not been done correctly the first time - and when my home smelled overwhelmingly like chemicals from the duct disinfectant - I called NADCA to ask about the chemicals and process used by McMurray & Sons. Come to find out that McMurray & Sons has NEVER been NADCA certified. I confirmed this with Ryan Barth of NADCA who then called them and gave them the choice to either pay to become a member or take the NADCA logo and claims off of their website and contracts. Furnace Replacement - the same two workers who cleaned the ductwork showed up to install the furnace. When I asked about that, one fellow said (quote): They don't usually send us to do this part but today they told us to just go ahead and do this. Furnace was installed incorrectly: instead of setting up a plenum for the returns they cut a whole into the cabinet of the furnace. Their first cut was in the wrong place so they put a metal plate on it, taped it up and never told us. Then they cut a whole on the side of the cabinet and hooked the ductwork directly in. The furnace was not level and was most obvious by crooked doors on the cabinet sitting lopsided from one another, the condensate line was plumbed into the sewer line which is bad enough but then, it was not sloped properly and the furnace kept shutting down. Duct cleaning: i was told that the cleaning and disinfecting would eliminate all the odors and that the disinfectant was an aerosol and would leave no residue or smell. after the McMurray "cleaning" i had another company come and camera the ducts and we could see a lot of debris still in the ductwork and the trunk line. After Mc Murray performed a second clean of ducts - we continued to find debris in the ducts. They also never once mentioned the condition of the insulation around the ductwork and the fact that it was covered in rat debris. When they returned the second time to clean the ducts - they (the supervisor) just completely forgot to do one of the ducts. when i pointed this out - he shined his flashlight to show me that he thought it was still clean from the first time. I pointed out that they also forgot to seal it. Crawl space cleaning: the new vapor barrier did not even meet the sides of the house leaving about 2 feet of open soil uncovered. it was placed haphazardly and the company came back with a manager (who was useless) to oversee. We found out months later when smells persisted that they left the original vapor barrier there and just placed a new one over top. the agreement (in writing) was to remove and replace the old vapor barrier. Sealing the System - there was supposed to be complete sealing of all air penetraitons, instead what we got was some sloppy foam sprayed around some but not all of the areas. We found several pipes that had not been sealed, We were promised a sealed system and we ended up with anything but. All the boot connectors were supposed to be sealed but were done incorrectly. when they returned to re-do they slathered a toxic grey paste all over the connectiors and in some cases they even slopped some inside the duct itself, both of which caused more toxic chemical smell in the home. they still were inefficiently sealed as they missed areas. They forgot to seal one connector altogether. Safety - on the second time around of the company returning to re-do everything - we were told by the supervision manager that he was creating a negative air system in the conditioned space of the home so that no odors from their work would enter the home. They were disinfecting the crawl space and neglected to let me know when that process was beginning and instead, I began to smell a strong chemical smell permeating the house. I ran out to ask about it - they, of course, were safely out in the fresh air to avoid this toxin, the supervisor came in to check the negative air pressure system and found that he had installed it incorrectly - thereby exposing me to a highly toxic agent. Refund: after the second go round with these incompetent people, they agreed to refund $250 to cover the cost of cleaning the ducts. this by no means placated us or made up for all the time, energy, money, upset, confusion and lies. There is so much more that was done to the lowest and poorest sub-standards. The owner, Dave McMurray in Bend, OR never kept his word either. He was supposed to come to the house to inspect what had happened and never did and then he stopped taking our calls altogether.
Description of Work: replace furnace, supposedly inspect, clean, disinfect and seal duct system, supposedly clean crawl space and supposedly replace vapor barrier, supposedly seal all duct and plumbing openings
