+ -1 moreOur contractor took our kitchen down to the studs for both walls and ceiling. Had AA install insulation prior to sheet rocking. Luckily I stopped by that evening. Their work was terrible. Hiring the guy who stands by the freeway saying "Will work for food" would have been as good a choice. First, there were many gaps in the ceiling insulation. Maybe 25% of the area was empty. Corners of the room had no insulation. Between studs, whenever there were wires or outlets, they just stuffed all of the insulation behind them—even if it compressed the insulation down to just one inch. Oh, and I could stand in the middle of the kitchen and see daylight through the ceiling rafters. On the walls, I cut the insulation to allow it to expand to full thickness around wires and outlet/switch boxes. I stuffed insulation into the cavities in the corners. After the sheetrock was done, I cut lengths of insulated ductwork and "glued" them down to the ceiling sheetrock over pot lights. I then glued rigid insulation on the tops of the insulated tubes. I also filled the entire area above the kitchen ceiling with loose insulation to. I filled in all the gaps.
Description of Work: Insulating walls and ceiling during a kitchen remodel. This review is for work done back in 2001 so keep that in mind.

Description of Work: We had AA insulation come out to give us an estimate on tearing out and replacing the insulation underneath our older mobile home. They were out to do the work within a couple of days and had it completed in half a day. We had a bit of a misunderstanding about the product being used but they gave us a price adjustment and we were happy. They worked fast and everything was cleaned up nicely when they left. Would use them again.

+ -1 moreHad a hard time getting hold of the person who does the quotes. Missed calls/phone messages/sometimes his phone mail box was full so I couldn't even leave a message. Once we talked, he was very understanding about what I needed done and that I was on a strict budget. He came out and looked at the crawl space and told me what he thought they could do within my budget. Once I agreed, they scheduled the work for just 2 days later. There was a crew of 3 that did everything on the scheduled work in just a few hours. They had the person who originally looked at it come and inspect what they had done. He also showed me other work that was needed, so I know to plan for getting that done.
Description of Work: Reinsulate most of the house in the crawl space. Removed insulation that had been destroyed by raccoon. Reinstall insulation that was still useable. Fill in with new insulation.

+ -1 moreI set up the appointment for a Friday, two weeks in the future. Two days before the appt, the office called to and quot;set up an apptand quot;. I explained that I already had an appt two days away. They had no record of it. I then spoke to another person and explained the situation where I had already made and confirmed the appt. Also explained that another contractor was waiting to start until the insulation was blown in. They were very accommodating and inserted us into the schedule first thing in the morning of the Friday we were originally scheduled for. So obviously customer service is a top priority for this company. They arrived by 8am on the scheduled day and did a quick professional job with great cleanup after completion. We were very pleased with the result and the service we received. I would recommend them and use them again in the future.

Description of Work: I had an appointment to have my walls insulated, but when the crew arrived they found that I already had a small amount of insulation and it was impossible to add more. They did add extra insulation in my attic to bring it up to a 38 and patched the test holes they drilled in my walls. I was disappointed to learn that the issues I am having are not so easily fixed, but was impressed by their professionalism and integrity. I definitely would recommend them and use them again if I need an insulation service.

+ 0 moreWhen some water pipes broke in our older not-so-mobile home, plumbers tore out the insulation, naturally. We hired AA after finding them here. A crew of three showed up (and called) early, finished quickly, and refused a gratuity (well deserved for crawling around under the flooring). We haven't inspected the results yet, but noticed the quality of the materials was good, the team professional, so, we're not worried about it until we muster up the courage to face the spider brigade. Fast, efficient, professional. What more can you ask?
Description of Work: The job entailed removing any damp or torn insulation, replacing the insulation, and covering the whole thing with matting and policing the area.

+ 2 moreI cannot say enough good things about Howard and his crew from AA insulation. I initially just asked for an estimate for new windows, but Howard informed me about the CEWO program and other incentives I had not known about. He spent hours and hours working out a plan to improve our home's efficiency as much as possible. There were several oddities about our 1965 home that required creative fixes, and AA Insulation did an amazing job fixing them all. They went well beyond the work outlined in the proposal. Whenever they found a problem or a leak they hadn't noticed before, they went ahead and fixed it. They were truly committed to the idea of saving energy, not just to the idea of installing what was on the proposal. Because of the testing and pre-approval requirements of the CEWO program, the whole project took about 3 months. But Howard kept us informed about any delays or difficulties, and he always called before workers were scheduled. His crew was always professional, friendly, and industrious, and they always cleaned up after themselves. By the time the windows were ready to be installed, outside temperatures were in the 20's when they arrived each morning and only got up to about 40 by the time they left; the guys worked without a single complaint. They even helped hunt for our basset hound when he escaped the yard while they were working! The whole experience was a pleasure, and I would recommend AA Insulation to anyone considering energy-efficiency upgrades to a home.
Description of Work: After a thorough testing of our home for energy efficiency and air leakage, AA Insulation installed 14 new windows, blew in attic insulation, and did numerous other projects. They first got us connected with CEWO (Clean Energy Works Oregon), a program that offers substantial incentives for improving energy efficiency. CEWO and AA Insulation spent about 4 hours testing various aspects of our home and found major problems with our heating ducts leaking air into the space between floors and out into the outside air. They devised a comprehensive plan to improve our efficiency by at least 30%, which entitled us to a $3200 rebate from Energy Trust of Oregon for all work performed. Our 1960's era single-pane aluminum windows were replaced with triple-pane insulated vinyl-framed windows; they also put in gorgeous wooden window sills on five large windows that had ugly tile sills before. Holes were drilled around he perimeter of the home between floors, then filled with insulation and resealed, drastically minimizing air leakage outside the envelope of the home. All heating ducts were fixed to reduce leakage around the vents. Exposed ducts in the garage and basement were wrapped with insulation. They even fixed leakage around light fixtures and the stove fan in the kitchen. After all the work was done, CEWO and AA retested the house and found it 50% more efficient, which more than met the goal that the rebate required. This program also set us up with a low-interest no-fee loan from Southern Oregon Federal Credit Union, so instead of having to shell out $9200 in one shot, we will pay off the work for about $130 per month.

I didn't know that AA Insulation did window replacement or we would have had them replace the windows as well. We had hired another contractor to replace the windows.
