There are two people who run RE100, Pam (secretary) and Mark (Boss). Overall Pam was sweet though slightly unprofessional. When I called and asked for directions to their office she rudely said, "didn't I just give you directions?" I guess she thought I was someone else. Once the situation was clarified she provided directions that ended up being wrong. When at the office she apologized for her behavior. On another occasion I called the office with a question. Instead of putting me on hold to find the answer I listened to her yell across the office to Mark. My first thought was, wow these two do not talk to each other with respectful tones. When she got her answer yelled back at her she politely replied to me. Mark is the boss. He walks, talks, and acts like he is a rock star. His arrogance shines bright. If I have an option I turn and walk away from doing business with people like Mark. He made several rude comments throughout the process of finding a home through RE100. He slighted my profession and unknowably my political party. The only reason I continued to use this agency was because the rental market in Lincoln City was a sellers market. We were stuck and needed a rental ASAP. RE100 format is not customer friendly. You must adhere to their procedures and there is no room for accommodations. I am not talking about financial accommodations, but schedule accommodations. The lease agreement does state that the rental MUST have rental insurance and the carpets must be professional shampooed upon exit. Neither of these items where mentioned until I read them in the lease and brought them to our attention on the day of signing. The biggest issue I had was how mark shared information. When I first called in and asked about month/month versus lease options Pam said all their properties where month/month. When I scheduled to be on their list for a particular property I asked and was told again that the property was month/month. When I saw the unit in person with Mark I clarified that the unit was month/month and mark said no, it was a 12 month lease. He also said that after the lease it is month/month. When I read the lease agreement it said that after the lease was up the landlord could ask the tenant to re-enter the lease for another 12 months or the renter may leave. When I asked Mark about the language he said that the landlord typically will do month/month at the end of the lease. I asked if I could get it in writing and he said "no". I cringe to think I am doing business with people who are manipulative. Use craigslist, or Oregon Coast Property Mgmt to find a place if you can. If not, and you are forced to go with RE100 as I was, read your lease carefully because Mark is the type of person who will exploit a weak or venerable person.
Description of Work: For the purposes of our situation LC100 acted as a placement agency. They connected us (renters) with the property (landlord). They showed the unit, did the paper work and background check, and handed over the keys.

UPDATE: I sent Mark a letter informing him that his policy of charging for carpet cleaning without indicating so in the rental agreement violated state law. Mark did the right thing and sent us a check for the entire $280.
Description of Work: Real Estate 100 rents long-term houses and apartments. We rented a house in Lincoln City from them from July, 2012 until May, 2013.
