I did not see a single mosquito this summer. They always showed up exactly when they said they would, they did exactly what they said they would do, and I didn't have to be home to wait for 3 or 4 hours. It was just real convenient service.

I believe a rating at this time would be unfair. I've only had one treatment and the gentleman that was sent out was in a bad mood. Considering that it was the end of the day, I will not rate the company. Trying to be fair and there is little improvement on the lawn. Therefore, I will wait to see how the lawn care comes along. Respectfully,

I tried them this year for the first time and I am very happy with how my lawn looks. I paid for a full year of service. They call me the day before they are going to be here When they show up, I don't have to be here. They take care of the stuff and leave me a detailed description of what they put on the lawn. I also have them do my shrubbery. They kept spraying and taking care of front yard and shrubbery. I have been completely satisfied with their work.

I'm about ready to pitch that service because they don't seem to be doing the weed control that terrific. They also come out and do my trees and shrubs, they treat for insects and fertilize every tree and shrub on the property. They do an awesome job with that. I would give a 'B' for lawn service and an 'A' for tree and shrub service. They're okay on responsiveness. The people that come are not from this town, so it's kind of hard in the spring and fall, when the weather is questionable. They will come out and if it's raining, they might go ahead and treat anyway. But if it rains within a certain amount of time, I'll call them and say, "Hey, it rained," and they will come back. They have this automated calling system. They will call and say, "We will be out a certain day," and sometimes they don't show up when they call. It doesn't happen all the time.

First 3 visits included application to only the back yard for 1st visit, broken equipment and no application for 2nd visit, and gave up after 3rd visit since 1st application didn't seem to have any impact on weeds. I talked to them about the lack of change in the weed growth after the 1st application to the back yard when the guy came out for the 2nd visit but since his equipment didn't work, it didn't do any good. The first visit was free but they still required me to pay for the 2nd and 3rd visit even though they never applied anything for the 2nd visit and were unable to apply the correct herbicide to the weeds to kill them. They never tell you when they are coming so it's hit or miss if you can tell them what's working and not. I'm done and cancelled the service today.

My lawn looked absolutely awful the second that it got close to summer. All the winter grass died and my lawn looked embarrassing. Called customer support number and no one ever came. Called again and someone came without any heads up (so I wasn't there) and dumped more chemicals on the lawn. Finally got in touch with the local manager who came and put down grass seed and a special formula to deep hydrate the lawn with the application of 40 min of water every day for 2 weeks. Really worried to get my water bill next month!!! Lawn starting to look better. Still brown spots. Seed coming in. Crossing my fingers. Only working with local manager from now on. Feel like I could get more from a landscaper who not only applies the right fertilizes and manages weeds, but would also mow and edge. Also frustrated as feels so impersonal.

I contacted the company regarding fertilization and landscape pest control. Was given a bid for the work and an offer to experience the service with a reduced first time offer after which we could make an assessment to go further with treatments. They were extremely heavy on the close and I was called numerous times through out the day and week for a service commitment and additional services even before I was to experience the first treatment. I was contacted by the billing department for Trugreen and notified of the $5,000 + bill that I would be receiving. I explained to them that I was to first experience the special offer then make a decision as to go on further. I was told that she hadn't been notified of this and that the sales person was taking full commission for the years worth of treatment. They were going to be calling the sales department and get back with me. The sales person called me back the next day, and It was reiterated that I would only be charged for the first treatment and it was scheduled that week. That day arrived and there wasn't a call and no one showed all day. I reached back out to my sales person and was told to expect a call the following week. No call that week either or the week after. I therefore cancelled the initial treatment offer. My "opinion" is that there is a heavy sales presence within this company and pressure for the sales people up-sell and close yearly contracts. I understand this and appreciate that this is a business. However, the offer shouldn't be made and missed numerous times. I never experienced any services so I cannot comment on that.

The first year was fine, they were very good about scheduling on days when I was home and they call the day before to remind you they will be there. We pre-paid and got a discount. Our yearly fee was about $400 for six treatments. (That is to the best of my recollection). Our lawn looked okay in 2013 but was not the best looking lawn on the block by any means. This last year (2014), we watered extra and were constantly raking pine needles off our back lawn as recommended by our technician. Our front looked great and finally was the nicest on the block. Our back lawn barely came back from the winter though and did not recover fully and green up even by the end of the summer despite the Scott's treatments. Then at the end of summer, directly in the center of our front lawn we had a large area die. Large chunks of lawn were being pulled away easily by the lawnmower and even just by walking on the lawn. When we investigated we could easily see white worms/grubs of some kind. The lawn guy had just treated our yard and when I checked the invoice it did not contain an insecticide so we called and asked Scotts to send the guy back out. They did this and he treated the lawn again for free. My husband had also treated the lawn with some insecticide we had in the shed because he felt it was a severe infestation and could not delay treatment until Scotts returned. So the lawn was treated twice. Over the fall and winter the front lawn has slowly improved but still does not look great and the compromised areas are obvious. The back lawn is affectionately called our "mud pit" as the lawn is barely hanging on after a difficult last summer. We still struggle to keep the pine needles off it and we do have a dog that is on it, but I have been very unhappy with Scot's results here. This year (2015) is the reason why I have only just today canceled my service. Scotts rolled over my service so when they were coming I just assumed it was still from the services I had already prepaid. I am not a fan of rolling over services without a verbal okay from a customer. Seems like a sneaky trick to me. Also, they applied lyme to my yard. In the past I thought lyme was a white powder though I am told now it is a brown granule. There is no powder or visible granules to be seem on my lawn. They did offer to come and retreat my lawn with lyme if I would agree to remain a customer, They also offered to give me the discounted price I have had in previous years if I stayed. Please look at the photos of my lawn to know why I declined both offers. I cannot continue to have mediocre results for $400/year. (I only paid $110 for this year because I canceled early).
Description of Work: Provided lawn services such as fertilizer, insect poison, lyme applications. We have used this service for about 2 years.

Overall they did a nice job. It was just more expensive than we could continue with our budget, and honestly, I feel I could fertilize my own lawn for a lot less. Wish their services included more for the same price, such as fixing bald or brown patches in the lawn rather just telling me what to do. But they were always polite and professional and easy to work with.

The workers who come out to your house do what they are contracted to do. I have used them for several years. The lawn technicians are very nice and seem competent. I have had repeated problems with the office in Lake Oswego. They ignore scheduling and customer requests. I also had an instance where someone in sales claimed that during my last treatment they saw that I had an insect infestation in my trees. The salesman then tried to sell me a service to eradicate my imaginary pests. I am always am present during treatments and there was no infestation. I did talk with my lawn technician and he confirmed I had no insect problem. I did talk with the Lake Oswego office about the fraudulent sales attempt. I do think they are a bit pricey for what you get. I recently changed to a lawn service and am getting much more for my money. I am also seeing a noticeable improvement in my lawn with the lawn service.
Description of Work: TruGreen comes to the residence many times per year at approximately $58.00 per service. I believe it is around 500.00 per year with all the standard lawn care. The price is for a back yard about 2000 square feet. They also offer other services such as insect control and some tree and bush services.

Description of Work: They sprayed my shrubs and trees for insects. They did a fine job. The man that did the work told me I have Crane flies in my lawn. I called TruGreen to get an estimate for spraying the lawn the next day and talked to Seth. He said he would call me back with a price. After two days I called and left a message on his voice mail but he never returned my call. A day later I called them again and asked to speak to the sales manager and was told it was Seth. I was told they would give Seth the message and have him call. I have waited a week and have never received a call back with a quote.

The service has only just begun, but they showed up when they said they were going to...I received to voicemails advising of the date. I didn't need to be home for the work. When I did arrive back home later that afternoon, there was a stake in the yard advising they had been there and treated. There was an invoice on the front porch which listed, in detail, the exact chemicals used, how much was used, which technician applied it, and some notes regarding the excessive moss and the need to use a hard rake as much as possible to clean it out once it started to die. It was backbreaking work, but whatever they applied sure made the job easier. The back yard was treated as well and I haven't done anything else to it besides mow. There is a lot of moss there as well but I'm not going to stress about it until next year. We have a 150 year old oak tree the doesn't allow a ton of sun to get through, and by this time last year the lawn had huge patches overrun by clover or just looking unhealthy due to lack of sun and dripping sap from the tree. Currently it is a deep green and looking great.
Description of Work: I purchased the year-long package. My yard is around 2900 Sq Ft and the quote included coming out every 5-7 weeks to spray and treat the lawn, provide overseeding to the areas needing it, and aerating service. It was too late for the moss-control but they did what they could and I ended up racking quite a bit of it out. Kevin was the sales person and he was very quick to return my calls and even offered to stop by our place when we are on vacation to make certain the lawn was watered (don't have in-ground sprinklers yet).

I had the EXACT same experience as the other person who provided a Sept 2013 result. They told me they'd make my lawn look GREAT. About 6 months later the front yard STILL looked like a patchwork quilt - NOT the green yard I was promised. What I wanted was a company who provided lawn care expertise - who would look at my yard, recognize what was wrong and fix it. I had aeration done and lime treatments too. They have NO ONE who actually monitors your yard to see if their standard treatment is working and after several months, if there is no improvement then recommend an altered course of treatment. You sit thru a sales visit with TruGreen, where they promise you they will take care of your yard, you plunk down the money for the service, and they then come out and spray insecticide or fertilizer and that is it - that's their definition of 'care for your yard'. You are expected to call them and tell them what is wrong. If I knew what was wrong, I'd just take care of it all myself! All you are paying money for is for a minimum wage person to come out and spray. They are not knowledgeable about lawn care, so don't ask questions. They promote their website, but do NOT provide you a way to see what work you had done and when. Nor can you see from there what you will have done when in the future! During one phone call (of many I made to them to complain about the total lack of any improvement to my front yard), their solution was to come out and do a lime treatment. If they had bothered to check my account, they would have seen that they had just done a lime treatment a month earlier! So in addition to not monitoring your yard, they don't even bother to pull your account up when you DO call. They ARE very good about calling you over and over and over again to try to get you to sign back up!!! Sorry, but I'm hoping that Scott's lawn care will fix my yard issues!

The lawn never looked great and it seemed like we had to advise them what we thought our yard needed as they had us on a generic plan and didn't even notice that our lawn was dying. The workers would come out, spend a couple minutes spraying, and would leave without addressing our actual issues. If we asked them questions they said they were only out to spray for something and we would have to call the office. The workers didn't seem to know anything about lawns and landscapes. In late July the lawn started dying out in patches and the patches quickly grew. We called several times and they said they would come out and look. We would get auto messages on our voice mail saying they were coming a certain day and we would go out of our way to be home or to be sure the dog was not out. They rarely showed up when they said they would and they would show up at random times and leave notes that they couldn't service the area due to the dog being out. They came out once or twice and left a note and bill for fertilization or pest spraying, but never dealt with the die out issue. Finally after several calls we got them to come out and they found crane fly larvae. They immediately sprayed and reseeded. This worked and the lawn came back. We were very disappointed that: They could not seem to see what the problem was, or that there was even a problem. They had us on some type of generic plan but ignored our actual needs. They rarely came when they said they would and mostly just showed up whenever. We took the dog to daycare at our expense when they said they were coming out, and mostly found they didn't show up and the dog could have stayed home. The workers they sent out only seemed to know a little about what they were sent to do. If we asked them anything else they would refer us to call the office. All the office did was try to sell us more. We called many times expressing our concern over the dying lawn and it took several weeks to get someone to come out and do something (although workers did come out and do their and quot;plannedand quot; spraying of the lawn, not apparently noticing that it was quickly dying). Even when we called to cancel the service they wanted us to continue with the and quot;planand quot; they had for us. The plan that did not help our issues. They seemed deaf to our concerns and blind to the fact that our lawn was dying. Their customer service was non-existent.
Description of Work: We hired them to fertilize and care for our lawn and landscape. We did not have them mow or trim, just aerate, fertilize, spray for pests, and occasionally seed. As described below they put us on a generic plan and ignored what our lawn needed. Our lawn died out due to crane fly larvae and we could barely get them to come out and look at it. They continued to come and provide our generic plan while ignoring the fact that the lawn was half dead. They didn't show up when they said they would and they did not seem to care about our lawn, but more about getting us to sign up for more services.
