PDX Electric was so great from beginning to end. First their price was about $200 less than other estimates. The electrician knew exactly what needed to happen and how to run the wire without putting holes in the drywall. He was done within an hour! The inspection passed with flying colors. (I must say that Washington county inspection procedures and scheduling are ridiculous, but that is another story. PDX Electric handled them wonderfully!)

Marty the owner of PDX Electric came out to do an estimate and replace a few outlets. He was wonderful to work with, explaining everything that needed to be done and answering all questions. Dave came the following day to replace more outlets and remove the sub panel for a generator that we want to take with us when we move to a new residence. They were right on time, fast, efficient, and very pleasant to deal with all around. I appreciated them putting on shoe covers or taking their shoes off and cleaning up by removing any debrie created in the work. We will be calling them the next time we need work done for sure.
Description of Work: Replaced 11 outlets that were loose connection or bad with fire hazard potential and removed a sub panel box for a generator that will be installed in a new residence eventually.

We were advised during an annual checkup on our furnace that our 1986 gas furnace should soon be replaced. We contracted to replace the furnace and install an air conditioner, which required installation of a new electrical breaker box. We have had great success with companies on Angie's List, and called PDX Electric. PDX is an ideal company to work with. The estimator stepped us through requirements and assisted with our specific additional requests. Promptly, the next morning, we received their emailed estimate. Dave, the electrician, arrived early. He was friendly and informative, stepping us through the installation and answering "homeowner" questions with a smile. To our amazement, there was no sign that additional lines had been run. The inspector made many positive comments ending with, "He really did good job for you." This could not have been a better experience, and we have already referred the company.
Description of Work: Install breaker electrical box replacing fuse; ran three independent outlets, and service for air conditioner.

Mr.Palmer arrived on time. I needed an out door porch light replaced and an indoor kitchen light repaired. We are replacing an old well house with a new one, so I needed the electrics tied off so it would be safe for the folks doing the tear down. He told me he would E-mail his estimate which he never did. Wish he would have been up front with me if he couldn't do the job, or for whatever reason he didn't want to do it. I hired an electrician recommended to me by a business I work with. They were prompt, professional, and completed the work I asked for at an affordable price. They will be returning to hook up the power in the well house when it's finished .

I knew that we had an overloaded circuit in our bathroom, but had just been ignoring the inconvenience because I didn't want to spend a lot of money at the time. But when our house ground wire was pulled up and I wasn't sure how to fix it myself, I decided to go ahead and get an electrician out to fix that and run the circuit at the same time. I called Marty early in the week, he called me back immediately and was able to come out the next day to take a look at the work we needed done. He emailed me the estimate later that evening. His office followed up with me via phone the next day just to make sure I had received the email. I was waiting to get one more bid, so I told them I hadn't decided who to go with yet, but would let them know after the weekend. PDX Electric's bid was about $300 less than my highest bid, and included a generous Angie's List discount. I called Marty back on Monday to schedule the work and he scheduled two guys for first thing Wednesday morning. They showed up a little bit early, but were just waiting outside and getting their equipment ready. They were really polite and didn't want to impose since they knew they were early, but I told them to go ahead and get started. The work was completely quickly and efficiently and the guys were pleasant and polite. Just the kind of people you like to work with. I would certainly call PDX Electric again in the future and recommend them to my friends or neighbors.
Description of Work: I had PDX Electric run a new circuit from the breaker panel to my master bathroom because the existing circuit was overloaded and would trip every time I tried to run my hair dryer. My breaker panel is downstairs on the opposite end of the house from the location the circuit was run, so it was about as far away as it could be. They also reattached my house ground wires that were accidentally pulled up during a recent landscaping project.

I called on Thursday morning and Dave came over the very next day. Kelly had said on the phone that he would come between 10 and noon (after his first appointment), but he called at 9:30 and said he was already on his way, if that was okay. He was very professional, took off his shoes, figured out the problem quickly, and fixed it in less than an hour. He checked and double-checked to make sure that none of the kitchen GFCI outlets would trip the fridge. He answered lots of questions, too, so that now I feel like I understand what was going on. Dave is great!

We have officially found our go-to electrical company. Marty, the owner, was extremely thorough, offered a competitive bid, and exceeded our expectations for the scope of work we had established which consisted of: replacement of main electrical panel; addition of several new outlets, one of which was recessed in hardwood floors; new exterior porch light; new bathroom exhaust fans with timers, etc. Marty was very responsive, responding to emails quickly, even at night. His team completed all work in less time than was expected, relabeled the entire new panel (something the existing panel didn't even have), and did a great job. We highly recommend PDX Electric.

I had originally called 1 year ago and had them bid on the job but we ended up not doing it. In the initial bid Marty was the only electrician that told us that if we upgraded service from 100amp to 200amp that the utility company may make us move our meter. Sure enough after calling the utility company I was told that we would have to move the meter to the other side of our house thereby doubling the scope of work and cost. I really appreciated Marty's knowledge and honesty. I called him back at beginning of February 2013 and he said he would honor the original bid from February 2012 plus give me an additional 12% off because of a special they are running through Angie's List. They had me scheduled for service the following Monday. Dave was the electrician who came and did the work, he showed up early, which was great. He did the panel replacement and fished the new line to the broken outlet and removed some under-cabinet lighting that was just loose wires. The job was inspected by the city 3 days later and no issues arose, the inspector commented on how smart it was that the electrician used a 200 amp panel for 100amp service so that at a later date it can be upgraded and all the panel work is done. She said she rarely sees this being done. This is one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor and I would highly recommend PDX Electric, they are fast, efficient and professional.

My plumber noted when he went to install new garbage disposal 1/24/13, my old one was hard wired and new one had plug so I needed to have new box and plug installed. He recommended PDX Electric. I called and was grateful work could be scheduled next day. I was told by scheduler on phone first hour labor rate $135. Scheduled for 1000-1200 window and Dave arrived at 1030. Very professional in completing work. My concern with experience was the total cost. Work was completed in less than 20 minutes, yet I was charged full hour plus permit ($65) and parts ($19.84). Quality of work and customer service was excellent. I would consider using again but only if I had at least an hour's worth of work to complete. I also think cost of permit should be quoted at time of scheduling along with labor rate. I would have gotten at least one other quote if I had known minimum cost was going to be $200. My 'B' rating is because of cost.

When my water heater decided to start leaking just days before a big business trip, it unleashed a chain of shopping and decision making that ate up days I didn't really have to spend. When the plumber ran into the electrical code violation of an ungrounded 220v power, I figured hot water would have to wait until I returned from Germany! So I rejoined Angie's List to choose a good electrician, because I'd never hired one before, and the ratings give me confidence to hire. I called PDX Electric and Lynn B. came out at the appointed time. He promptly accessed the situation, wearing shoe covers and a helpful friendly attitude. In no time at all he fished a new line in the attic, taking care to not muss the insulation loft, install a proper wall cover conduit outlet, and dress the conduit in prep for the new water heater connection. This allowed me to contact the plumber to complete the water heater install and I had hot water again with 2 days left to spare. Lynn's expertise and professionalism was a positive experience at a reasonable price, with my Angie's List discount. I'd recommend PDX Electric to anyone and use them again for electrical work in my home.

After a lamp was plugged into a faulty wall receptacle in a lower level living room, a short occurred and the power went out in the entire room as well as the portion of the garage which includes the garage door openers. There was no obvious breaker blown, so not wanting to mess with electricity myself, I sent an e-mail rather late on a Wednesday evening outlining the symptoms and requesting to schedule an electrician to come out. Marty responded that same evening asking when would work best for my schedule. Although there was some hiccup with the AL email system which meant I didn't receive the email he sent and then re-sent at 4:40am when he didn't hear back from me, we still managed to connect the next morning via our own phone/email systems, and he arrived promptly as scheduled. He surveyed the situation, explained what he would need to do, then set to work immediately, finishing in short order. He was professional and pleasant, and before he left also answered my questions regarding what some future outdoor lighting projects might entail.
Description of Work: Performed troubleshooting for a power outage that occurred in 2 areas of the house, replaced a faulty receptacle and tested the breaker panel and tightened the connections on a breaker that wasn't putting out power but had tripped without flipping to the off position.

er the phone A circuit breaker went out and would not reset. There was no mechanical resistance when I pushed the switch on.. I was stumped, so I went to Angie's list and called the first electrician I found who was open Sunday. Marty answered, I described the problem and he suggested pushing the switch all the way off and then on. It worked! PDX Electric will be my first option when I get some real electric work done! Kudos to Marty!
Description of Work: Excellent phone service on a Sunday! A circuit breaker went out and I didn't know if it was broken or I was doing the wrong thing. I called Marty and he solved the problem over the phone in about 30 seconds. No actual service call, but the problem is fixed! Kudos to Marty!

I was very pleased with Marty from PDX! I had called another electric company from Angie's list and they had not returned my call from the day before, so the fact that Marty called back right away and was able to come and check out the situation that afternoon, was fantastic. He was able to fix the problem quickly with just a few adjustments to the fuse box and 2 outlets and called it a diagnostic visit. I will call this company again in the future, when I need an electrician and I would recommend them to friends for sure.
Description of Work: I had a loose fuse box in one of the apartments in a triplex and the electricity to 1/3 of the apartment was out. It appeared that the area had been overloaded with appliances and after tightening and resetting the fuse box and 2 outlets, the problem was fixed quickly.

We had lots of electrical work to be done, and Marty came out and assessed and gave a reasonable bid- very promptly... just later that same day! (His timeliness and responsiveness throughout the whole bidding and installation is appreciated. He was always willing to answer questions or confirm details before the work was done, as well as handle any follow-up questions we had afterwards.) PDX Electric was able to schedule on the days we needed- we had to meet a quick timeline- and Cory and Len came out and finished the job in 2 days. Everyone was friendly/courteous and kept the job site tidy. This major electrical work was approved no problem by the electrical inspector when he came by for the inspection after they were through. Would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: They installed new 200-amp meter for house with required risers and updated grounding system on our old house, and upgraded electrical panel, and installed 100-amp subpanel for garage, plus various dedicated circuits, GFCI protected outlets, wiring for overhead lights and outdoor lights, etc. etc.

The office is wonderful, responsive and sweet. The man that came to do the quote was awesome (wore slip ons over his shoes to keep our floors clean - with a crawling baby I LOVED this:) Even though their quote was higher, my experience was so nice with these two individuals, we went with them for some electrical work in our new (quite old) home. The electrician that came was nice and punctual, but he scratched up my walls and made a mess (drilling, wires left on floor, screws on floor, etc) without cleaning up afterwards. Perhaps if the price was lower I wouldn't have minded climbing around cleaning afterwards or getting out the paint can, but as it was, I wasn't as pleased as I'd hoped. The office was, once again, very sweet and helpful setting up the appointment for the permit.

After a bad experience with an electrician from a different company, I phoned Marty who had been the second to return my call regarding a dangerously overheating circuit. He sent Dave, who was finishing a job nearby. Dave got right to work, taking an inclusive, energetic and sociable approach to keep the cost surprisingly affordable. Most importantly, THESE GUYS ARE GOOD. I had an opportunity to see how things go with a less professional electrician, and I would most definitely go with PDX Electric for future needs.
