They were fabulous! The owner came out an met me on MY schedule (which was very limited). He was at my house the day after I called to receive and estimate. He showed up at 7:00 AM RIght on time. His bid was fair for the work requested. THey worked e into their schedule and came out on Saturday at 7:00 AM to do a project that I had called them about just 3 days prior (Not to mention this was right at Thanksgiving.) The work was done on time, on budget. The crew that showed up were helpful, and had good attitudes. I will absolutely use them again.
Description of Work: Provided a new circuit for a home theater room including 9 can lights, 5 outlets, projector plug, 4 dimmer switches in a room that previously had VERY limited electricity installed

Dave arrived within one day of calling PDX Electric. He was competent and fun to work with as this took a few hours to test the circuits. etc. It was a pleasure to work with a knowledgeable technician after having miserable experiences with some HVAC folks. I highly recommend this company and in particular Dave Bates. I will always use this company for any future electrical needs. Thankfully, Sai Simonson in Damascus

I awoke on a morning recently with no electricity to my bedroom. Eventually I traced it back to an open neutral (loose white wire) that had burned and easily could have started a fire. I performed a temporary repair. I had a wonderful experience with PDX Electric. PDX Electric arrived on time for their quote, installed a new circuit at a date that worked for both of us (properly permitted and up to code) and eliminated a safety concern where an addition prior to our ownership had 20 outlets and 3 light fixtures on it. They found a junction box in the attic where it was clear/safe to split the circuit and put in a new run to the master bedroom. They inspected the existing and new circuit. For added safety I also had them install Arc Fault detection breakers (AFCI) which is new code for bedrooms.
Description of Work: Added an additional circuit to our home to reduce a safety concern (overloaded circuit). Installed AFCI breakers. Inspected existing electrical.

Response from PDX Electric LLC
[Member name removed] called PDX Electric out to confirm that there was enough power to her detached garage. After asking [member name removed] what items she would be using in her garage, she told me "a space heater". She went on to say, that she and her next door neighbor, took another neighbors dog in, because that neighbor unexpectedly passed away. She would be watching the dog during the day, while her next door neighbor was at work. [Member name removed] didn't want the dog to get cold..... You really made my day with your generosity and kindness. PDX Electric loves animals and would never think of charging a customer with such kind intentions. Thank you, Marty PDX Electric

These guys were great. On time. On estimate, really knew what they were doing and were very personable. Wiring a hot tub uses very heavy wire and these guys were everywhere in my home most people don't want to be, the attic and crawl space. they did a great job.
Description of Work: Hot Tub wiring - new circuit, heavy wired from one corner of my home to the exact opposite corner. They had to go into the attic, then down the wall into the crawl space, outside the house for the second breaker and outlet, then wired to the tub. As well as added one additional external outlet on the front of my home.

The guys were great. They diagnosed the problems during the initial estimate far more thoroughly than any of the other companies that gave us bids. I told my wife after their initial visit that I had a really good feeling about them, and if their bid was in the ballpark of the other companies we should go with them. To our delight, their bid was far less than the others. Kenny did a great job getting everything right. He even went above and beyond after he was finished by helping with a separate electrical issue. He had another job to get to, but sent a co-worker out later who diagnosed and fixed the problem. I will recommend these guys to anyone who needs electrical help, and will certainly use them in the future. Thanks again PDX Electric!

They did a wonderful job. He did an excellent job. He worked fast. He was friendly. We are very pleased with what he did.
Description of Work: We used PDX Electric yesterday to replace a couple of burned out GFCIs and a couple of burned out or defective fan switched. They also rewired an outlet where the wire had broken off of the posts and checked a couple of outlets to make sure that there weren't any hotspots in there.

They were prompt, professional, and very nice. We called and had an appointment within 4 business days. They checked the box, and the outside electrical lines and assured us that the work had been done correctly, and saw that the dryer had not been installed correctly - even though the store had supposedly checked that already! Replaced two breakers (said they had been tripped many times over the last 10 days and needed to be replaced), secured the electrical cord from dryer and it works. We are new to the area and brand new to Angie's List - when they realized we did not get our first time discount they sent us a check. We asked for a bid on two projects and they were very prompt. We are still gathering bids so don't know if we will go with them. The only question I forgot to ask them was the cost of the permit - my understanding is that it is $45 for minor work permit, they charged $65 maybe because we didn't have to do any paperwork ourselves? I wish I got paid $135.00 an hour but everyone says that is pretty average. We contacted the store and told them what happened and they are giving us a credit for the cost of the repair visit. Anyway will definitely use PDX again if needed.
Description of Work: We had purchased new washer and dryer, the dryer would not turn on, two different teams from the store came out and could not fix it. We kept tripping our circuit breakers - all over not just the same one over and over. We unplugged dryer and no issues - because of the various guys who came out from the store and what they said - that we needed our circuit box checked. We found PDX on Angie's List Marty and Kenny came out and checked it over, fixed problem.

It went great! Punctual, friendly, not the lowest price but the best response and service! The technician first came out to install the panel and wiring Then, he was able to come out the same day the spa was installed to complete the set up. He went above and beyond by coming over at the end of his day to hook up our spa so we could get it filled and heated. They obtained the appropriate permits, scheduled the county inspector to come out, and the inspector approved the work. I highly recommend using PDX Electric. I will definitely use them again. Thanks!

We were interested in getting estimates from 3 angie's list electricians with good reviews. PDX Electric was one that had less reviews but rated well and decided to give them a call. The receptionist was very friendly and wanted to verify the work schedule of the estimator (Marty) and said that she would give me a call back at the time we designated. She called when she said she would and we set up a free estimate for a few days later. Marty came on time and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He was patient with all my questions and had a "can do attitude" about the work that needed to be done. He was timely with emailing us his estimate of my lengthy "wish list" and broke the work down, as discussed, so that we might decide which items to put off to another time, etc. While waiting for the estimate, we had another reputable company come out and they were equally professional, knowledgeable, friendly and timely but their estimate was significantly higher for the same work (additionally they seemed to charge for ticky tac things like a daily charge to drive over, and they tried to work the free estimate into actual work. When I insisted that I was looking for an estimate in order to fairly compare the different companies, they scheduled an estimator to come before his shift started), and they were wishy washy about some of the work -basically saying that if it can be done, it could cost this much or left the cost unsaid. I emailed Marty with some minor questions that arrose when comparing the estimates and to say that we would like him to do the work. I had not heard from him and emailed again to see if he got the correspondence and to say that I was getting calls from the other electricians and needed to know if he was still interested. He got back to me and we scheduled a date to do the work. I had questions about what we should have ready to do the work (type of closet lights to install, can light, kitchen light, etc) and there was a delayed response on that too but everything was figured out and ready the day that the work was done. Cory, Kenny and Dave arrived early to my house and prepared what they needed outside before coming to my door at my appointment time. They worked off Marty's list and did a walk through with me. All 3 men worked together to get the work done from what I remember being around 8:30 am to almost 5 pm. They put up with my joking about having a home birth because they came on my due date. When my daughter needed to come downstairs after a nap, one of them offered to carry her down the stairs, since they had laid a drop cloth on the stairs and didn't want me to go into labor. They were great guys and we are very happy with their work. They cleaned up after themselves and communicated well when they had questions/ran into obstacles, asking my preference on different things -which I really appreciated. The specific work that was done included: getting our doorbell to work that randomly stopped working years ago (they provided the new doorbell), fixing a pull chain kitchen light that stopped working years ago, routed an existing outlet so that it wasn't connected to a random basement light to function, added 2 exterior outlets, 1 main level outlet, 3 upper level outlets, 3 basement outlets, wiring for 2 wall sconces upstairs, installed a can light from a tight attic space, installed 2 closet lights with switches, and moved/replaced an above the stairs light to center it over the stairs. Included in the $2478 cost was the wall mounted electric heater, outlets with switch plate covers, on/off switches, etc. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost (I anticipated needing a new electrical panel to accomodate all the additions) and was able to get my entire electrical wish list completed in one day. I wish that we had had the work done years ago. We will definately use PDX Electric again.
Description of Work: Electrical work for our home, built in 1925 to include adding some interior and exterior outlets, closet lights, wall sconces, can light, wall mounted heater, fixing existing wiring problems and advising us on whether or not a new panel was needed.

Dave called and asked if he could come earlier than the appointment time. Fine with me. He removed his shoes before coming inside and whenever he went back to the truck. He explained everything to me as he did the work. He found the GFI which was in our bathroom, far away from the non-working plug. But he did it in a way that didn't make me feel stupid. I appreciated that. Work was done quickly and professionally.

Two electricians showed up by 8am. They performed the work with good efficiency. One worked on the lectrical panel change. The other worked on the three extra outlets installed. They were completed by 1:30pm and cleaned up and finished by 2pm. The work looks very nice. Both electricians were experienced and answered any questions I had. The city inspector came the next day. He inspected the panelwork and test both GFCI circuits that were installed. All passed. No issues. The only issue I had was when I hooked up our new hottub to the newly installed outlet. The ground plug was on the top side of plug where my GFCI cord unit had the ground pin on bottom. No fault to electrician as he didn't see plug from tub during installation. I simply shut off power and reversed orientation of outlet inside exterior approved outlet box.

Marty, the owner, performed the inspection and provided several alternatives. Our previous breaker panel was full and could not accomodate an additional circuit for the car charger. We went with replacing the main panel instead of a sub panel. Marty was helpful and did not pressure us toward the higher cost option. We were scheduled for the following week. The electrician and his helper completed the job in less than 1 day. They arranged an inspection for 2 days later. The inspection failed due to an oversight that the car charger is labeled for copper wire only and aluminum was used. The team quickly re-scheduled and fixed the problem within a couple days. 2nd inspection passed. Clean and tidy work. All communications were prompt, friendly and professional. Enjoyed working with everyone.

The guys arrived about 15 minutes early, which was not a bad thing. This was the first time I've ever had a contractor arrive early. Pleased. The team was professional, courteous, and responsive. They even helped to push our garage 'gorilla shelves' back against the wall after running the wires along the garage wall. They were not the cheapest, definitely not the most expensive, but for the money they did a great job. Also worth mentioning, they are very responsive during email exchanges for schedule/re-scheduling, etc.
Description of Work: We needed an electrician to complete the wiring for our Hot tub. This included moving a few things around in the breaker box to allow for a dual breaking 50amp breaker (hot tub), running the wire under the home in the crawlspace, mounting the outside relay, and running wires to the hot tub.

Not only did the service go well, the guys working on our condo were really nice, super curteous, and they knew what they were doing. We had some new lighting from the Pottery Barn that needed to be installed. From the time that we had the bid done, until the time the lighting was installed, we were able to keep the project moving and know when to expect them. They came up with some solutions for a vintage lighting fixture that we purchased and sat on for several months, not sure how to proceed. Marty came by and came up with the solution, and we loved it. It was perfect, and all of the fixtures they used were perfect for the style of condo that we have. We felt really comfortable having them in our home, and appreciated the top-notch service and work they did. Hire them without hesitation!!

The office staff was very helpful and was able to give us an appointment at the time we needed it. Marty was right on time. He even called on our appt. day because he was available at an earlier time and could have come out earlier if it would have worked for us. He immediately located the problem as an appliance issue, not a wiring issue. Since he was here only 15 or 20 minutes and couldn't fix our problem, he gave us a significant discount on the cost. He was very professional and gave us a lot of information about our problem with the oven. If/when we need electrical work again, we will definitely call PDX Electric.
