It went very well. I put in an email request for service on Wednesday, they called me back on Thursday, and were able to make an appointment for the next day. Jimmie was prompt, friendly, courteous, and professional, and let me know what he was doing and finding each step of the way, which I appreciated. He was able to fix the issue fairly quickly, and that was that. I'd definitely use PDX again, and recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: I had three overhead lights that failed all at the same time. I did all the standard DIY stuff, but it was a mystery. I was worried that perhaps squirrels had gotten into the wiring and chewed it up. Jimmie from PDX came out and did a very thorough good solving the (rather stubborn) mystery (no squirrels, thankfully,) and got everything working in about 2 hours.

When the heavy rain came, we could not turn our outdoor lights on without tripping the circuit breaker. I attempted to troubleshoot the issue myselt, but stopped once I could no longer re-set the breaker. I researched several reputable sources, including Angies list, for electricians and chose PDX Electric. I called on a Thursday, and they set me up with an appointment on Monday morning with an 8-10 am window. A live person answered the phone, and was very professional, friendly, and helpful. On Monday morning the van pulled up to my house at 08:00am sharp. The electrician introduced himself, and was also very professional and friendly. He was mindful to not wear shoes on the carpet. I explained the problem to him, and he immediately assessed the situation. He worked quickly, but carefully. He found a few problems which did not surprise me. The main issue was some buried electrical wire that someone taped off at the ends. This was shorting out. Also, the switch did not seem to be working properly. An electrical box was half buried in the dirt and needed to be replaced. I was so glad that he found the proplems, and fixed them properly. All of this work was completed in a little less than 2 hours. I am very pleased with the work, and would use them in the future. I would highly recommend them. Thank you.
Description of Work: Replaced circuit breaker, switch, outdoor box, installed GFI, rain cover, found problem for short circuit. Also reparied an indoor GFCI recepticle which was not working properly.

We had hired two other companies before this to take care of this problem. Neither of the other companies had been willing to go the extra mile to fix it right. Dave was impressive. He was methodical about the problem solving involved, made several trips to the attic to string the wires, contorted himself to pull the new wires through, and stayed late until the job was complete. He worked quickly and competently, and clearly knew his stuff. Throughout the process he was cheerful and communicative about the process. We had some sticker shock about the price, but believe it was a fair price and are happy to feel safer.
Description of Work: Repaired two outlets that were not working. This was not the simple task that the description implies. The wiring in the walls was a mess, and this required quite a bit of time for problem solving as well as for accessing and replacing the wiring.

It was not an easy job. The conduit had been there for years and it took great effort to clean debris and make useable. We were having our driveway and parking area paved with stones so timing of inspection was important. They were always timely and on task. The inspection failed for reasons I don't fully understand, but it required them to come back and repair. They did so, never questioning or complaining about the job. They were very sensitive to the fact that they had to destroy some of our new stone work and did everything to minimize the impact . The company was immediately responsive and paid for the repair of our parking area. They sent me a check without hesitation. They were friendly, talented, and professional.
Description of Work: Installed a 220 and 60 amp line and panel to our carport (for an electric car) and outside use. They also repaired some electrical problems in home.

Marty came to the house at the scheduled time to conduct the review of our wiring needs and provided excellent suggestions for things they could do to improve the lighting of the driveway as well as all code corrections. I needed to have the wiring redone as I'm having new siding, insulation and windows installed and needed the overhead power lines from the house to the garage moved, replaced (bare wire could be seen) and brought up to code. I was also interested in locating a supervising electrician to look at my knob and tube wiring to determine if it could have insulation blown over it. According to Oregon Electric Code this is allowable as long as the wiring is in its original condition. Although Marty was unfamiliar with this code he was willing to look into it for me, I provided him with the copy of the code I had printed from offline and he took some notes. What I appreciate most is that Marty was willing to listen to what I had to say, to look into my knob and tube question even though he was unfamiliar with the specific code and didn't just say "no/can't be done". Marty has mastered the art of customer service. On the day of the job Dave and Travis were very prompt and arrived at the work site as scheduled. They were friendly and professional, the work was done within the time estimate, and they were very flexible when a last minute change was included in the description of work to be done. Both my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of work, knowledge and courteousness. I would definitely use PDX Electric again!
Description of Work: DETACHED GARAGE POWER Wiring For: - Installed (1) new 20amp 120v circuit to feed the existing garage wiring. - Installed (1) disconnect switch for the detached garage. (Code required) - Re-locate-feed the existing wiring at garage and install GFCI protection. - Installed (1) new motion light location, above garage, controlled by the fixture sensor. - Installed (1) new outlet and re-wired (1) plug for existing fluorescent light. KNOB AND TUBE INSPECTION - Inspected all attic knob and tube to determine if it’s in its original condition and able to be covered by insulation per OESC 394.12.

PDX Electric was professional and attentive to our needs from the minute I called them, to following up with us after receiving an estimate. We were in need of getting an estimate and repair work immediately and they were there for us. Marty was quick to evaluate our needs and provide us with an estimate. He delivered on everything when he said he would. I appreciate PDX Electrics's willingness to help us out and follow through on things in a timely fashion. Although we did not end up using them for this project, we will certainly keep them in mind for future projects!

Kenny & Travis did a great job. They were 15 minutes early, did the work as needed and even found a can light in the ceiling of our bonus room the builder had forgotten to install; so they cut a hole in the drywall and installed that as well. Also answered some questions regarding other work we need done in the future. Won't hesitate to call them and schedule the next round of work.

I contacted PDX Electric and spoke with Kelly about the scope of work and possible availability. I forwarded her our inspection report for the electrician to see to get an idea of what we needed. He contacted me to ask some questions and we scheduled a bid apt for a few days out. The bid came in as reasonable and the work could be completed almost immediately, so I contacted Kelly to schedule the work. She explained that Marty would be making some notes and adjustments to accommodate our situation and would try to be on site to communicate that to the workmen. They were all very professional, courteous and on time. They answered questions easily and were eager to do whatever was necessary to make the home safe, though they could see there was quite a bit of "wonky" wiring throughout the house. The workmen cleaned up well after themselves and were respectful of the unusual space within which to work.
Description of Work: Examine existing wiring in entire house. Disable necessary, illegally installed puck lights and in some areas replace them with legal alternatives. Install crawlspace fan. Remove and replace illegally installed lighting fixtures. Update all outlets and switches, search the attic for errant wires from previous homeowner, install exterior motion sensor flood lamps, bring all exterior outlets up to code.

The team showed up on time and got to work quickly. They did everything I thought they would plus a few extras. Mike was great with my dog even though she's a bit intimidating and barked at him every time he came in the house. They had a big job installing a new panel on the other side of a wall from the old one and they're were plenty of challenges with the age of my house and the odd way the last owners added on to it (apparently they didn't remove the exterior paneling before building the addition) but they found ways to get through everything. Everything they took apart they put back together which was a nice bonus. They even knocked out a couple of extra things I needed done for no extra charge. Lynn has a real friendly crew that are nice to have around. Marty (the estimator) was great too. The other electricians I had come for estimates creeped me out to the point I cut things short to get them out of my house but Marty could come over for dinner if he wants. They're also coming back out to clean up some mess PGE left behind after the inspection. Their price was WAY under the other highly reviewed Angie's List electricians that came out. It's nice to be charged for work and not speculation of difficulty so I'll definitely use them in the future

It went great! Marty was able to come to provide an estimate shortly after my call. He was creative and came up with a solution to my dilemma quickly. The work was scheduled for the following week. Dave performed the work and was fantastic. He was prompt, polite and very competent. The job was done well and fairly fast. He also cleaned after himself and left the place as it was upon his arrival.

It went pretty well, except that a fair amount of time was spent shaping and running a metal conduit that when tested out revealed that the new wire would come out in a different position than where the conduit had been installed. I don't actually know whether that could have been tested for earlier in the process so that the first steps of running the conduit and then dismantling it could have been eliminated and not paid for. In the end, though, the job was done well and professionally. PDX Electric was very timely and professional in taking my call, setting up the appointment, and arriving at my home so that part was very easy and appreciated!

The house is older, and I could tell as I removed the sheetrock that there were going to be issues with the wiring because I found junction boxes hidden behind the sheetrock with no access to the wires. PDX came out promptly to give a bid. I had three companies come to give bids. This estimator seemed the most sensitive of to the problems they might face and that gave me confidence that things would go well. Two pleasant and professional workers arrived at the time promised, completed the work on schedule, and left the area spotless. There were FOUR buried J-boxes and a bit of head-scratching until all were found. I'm glad I didn't try to figure it out! They scheduled the "rough" inspection with the county, returned after painting was completed as promised and the trim work was completed in a few hours. Final inspection is on for Friday. All will be well. I chose PDX because their price was competitive, within a few hundred of low bid, and the estimator showed a good understanding of the quirks the job would present. I would definitely use them again.
