Description of Work: Jimmy B., the electrician, did an excellent job. He quickly determined the reason that the bathroom fan was not turning. He made the necessary adjustments and the fan worked. Then, at my request, he installed new switches and thermostats. Jimmy then tested the appropriate appliances and found that they were working properly. Jimmy was on time, he worked efficiently and explained what he was doing. If I need electrical work in the future I will call PDX Electric and ask for Jimmy.

,Dave (I think) finished another job early, and called and asked if he could come to our job a day early. He was very fast and efficient, dealing with a couple of other small problems while he was in the area. He was done in 20 minutes, so we didn't feel like we got a very good value for our Big Deal. Minimum charge was $135 and Big Deal was $50 for the first $100, so effectively $85 for the first hour or portion thereof, or in our case 20 minutes.
Description of Work: Fixed a "spider" wiring situation in a kitchen light fixture in an old mobile home, which included wires from the range hood in with the kitchen light. He said the house wouldn't support a ceiling fan, which was the original idea, so he didn't do that,

After initially giving the job to another electric company (3 new electrical boxes and a light requiring two new circuits), the electrician told me that his estimator missed the fact that my circuit breaker box was full, and that we'd need another supplemental circuit breaker box. At this point, I wanted to verify all this by getting another opinion/estimate or two and called PDX Electric. The estimator, Marty, arrived, within a few hours, gave a reasonable estimate, and we scheduled the work to be done the next business day. The electrician (Dave) arrived as scheduled and the work was done without a hitch. Everyone was prompt, courteous, and friendly. Well done.
Description of Work: Added three electrical outlets for a bathroom and kitchenette. Added an additional small circuit breaker box with additional circuits.

Description of Work: Dave was punctual, professional & a pleasure to work with. I was impressed that I could schedule an app.@6AM before work. Very convenient. He solved the problem as quickly as he could and appeared to know what he was talking about. I would definitely use this company in the future.

His estimate stood out as one of the best in terms of cost, but also confident about solving all the problems (where others weren't quite as sure) Not only did he do all the work, successfully, on-time, on-budget, but he was a great problem solver. I was very impressed- strong attention to detail.

Corey was punctual and professional, and I was impressed by how quickly he was able to diagnose the problems and make the repairs. He answered all my questions and inspired confidence. I definitely plan to call PDX Electric on my next project.
Description of Work: Replaced an outlet that got saturated with water and shorted out, subsequently taking out most of the outlets in my kitchen. A separate outlet in another part of the house also was repaired.

My overall experience was great. Marty was quick to respond to give an estimate and then was quick to reply with a revised estimate to answer some questions I had. The crew that showed up to actually perform the work were very professional and friendly. Corey explained what he was going to do and got right to work. They finished up in about 4 and a half hours, Completely cleaned up after themselves and walked me through what had been done at the end. I will definitely use them again for any electrical needs.
Description of Work: I had the exhaust fan in my bathroom upgraded to a larger more efficient unit with a heater. This required a dedicated 20 amp circuit to be run to the bathroom directly from the box. The bathroom is on the third floor so the easiest way was to run a conduit up the side of the house into the attic. I also had a can light put into the ceiling above the tub attached to the main light switch.

I have been renovating our 90 year old home we recently purchased and had need to have a couple of boxes installed that I contacted PDX and in both instances they did so quickly, professionally and at a good price. On their second piece of work to install a electrical box, I asked the electrician about the possiblity of installing two new outlets in our living room because there were few outlets as is the case in most old houses. At the end of the work he was doing that day he scoped out the work and said he would get back with an estimate. The work would also include diagnosing why an exterior electrical outlet was dead and that could be used to extend power to the new outlets. Late that afternoon I received an estimate from PDX's owner Marty and an offer that the work could be performed the next day by him and a member of his crew. I liked the price and set up the work with Marty. On Friday they arrived promptly at the time they said they would. Marty investigated the problem with the dead outlet and quickly determined what the problem was. He traced the line and found wire cable coiled up and hidden behind basement drywall. Then he and another member of his crew went about reconnecting the dead outlet and then installing the additional outlets. They got the work done with quality and cleaned up after they were done. The amount I paid is the amount they estimated which they stated could have been higher depending on the amount of effort and materials that was required to reconnect the dead line. In this instance, the reconnection of the dead outlet was relatively simple. I would certainly higher PDX again for I am fairly sure I will need to call on an electrician again as I continue my home renovations.
Description of Work: I hired PDX electric to install two new outlets in our living room based on my experience with them on two recent smaller jobs in which they put in a couple of electrical boxes. I received a quick estimate for the work that I liked and they were able to come the next day.

Experience: Marty and Corey arrived at my home at 7AM SHARP. I want to emphasize this as we all have been inconvienced by a contractor scheduled to arrive in a 4 hour time window - and they never arrive at the early time. Marty did the work we originally discussed, and also installed an extra outlet and ran twine so that I could run the HDMI and speaker wires through my crawlspace to hide them. Best Buy quoted my $1700 for the same job, with the exception that they don't install electrical outlets. Marty and Corey did the whole job for $425! They arrived on time, did a quality job of exactly what was agreed to, and at a fair price. What else can you ask for! I would highly recommend PDX electric. Thanks Marty and Corey!
Description of Work: Overview: I contacted PDX Electric via email and got a quick response from Marty. I had some questions regarding electrical outlet installation and cable routing to install my new home theater system. Marty had some great ideas and gave me a ballpark quote over the phone after asking some clarifing questions.

I solicited several bids from local electrical firms for this work. After my initial call to PDX, Marty came right out to my home and provfided a written estimate. The bid included the permit, labor, and all materials to complete the job. I immediately felt comfortable with Marty and the estimate, and as it turns out PDX's bid was the lowest estimate I received. Sometimes the lowest bid does not always to turn out to be the best work or the best expericence, but this turned out to be an extremely pleasant experience. On the day scheduled for the work (they accomated my own schedule), Cory showed up right on the appointed time and immediately went to work. It took all day, and while Cory was friendly and more than helpful in showing me what he was going to do, he wasted no time in getting to work. It was a quality job, neat and clean when the day was over. The work was code compliant, easily passed the local inspection, and I happily wrote the check. The work was exceptional, and a great value.
Description of Work: PDX Electric installed a new circuit from the existing panel to a new hot tub location in my rear yard at my residence. The routing of the wire was difficult but PDX was able to complete the installation where the wire was completely in concealed spaces (no surface mounted wire: all behind the wall, in attic, etc.) I added some additional work and asked the electrician (Cory) to install a surface mounted fixture in the dining room.

From the start, I asked for bids from 4 different contractors. Marty Palmer, from PDX Electric, was very prompt in responding to my bid request. My project had a few complexities that took some of the other contractors quite a while just to figure out their approach to doing this project. Marty impressed me from the start by knowing very quickly what approach to go with and gave me a quick bid on that approach. PDX Electric won the bid, not just because of price, but because of their responsiveness, willingness to meet my needs, and general attitude towards my project. PDX Electric is also a little smaller and newer business than the competitors. Some people would say that's a risk. However, my wife and I have had very good experiences with smaller, and more personal companies. PDX Electric was no exception. We are glad we took that risk! On job day, Marty and Cory showed up on time and were ready to start as soon as they arrived ( 7:30 AM ! ) They had the project done the same day, with plenty of the day left, while taking the time to do the job right. I was on the job site throughout the entire process and was very impressed with their work. They paid attention to small detail, did a very neat and clean job, and answered a list of questions that I was constantly throwing their way throughout the day. Needless to say, their work also passed the county electrical inspection, first time, and the inspector also commented on a job well done. I will continue to use PDX Electric as my professional electric contractor for any future needs and will highly recommend them to anyone else. Excellent job Marty, Cory, and PDX Electric!
Description of Work: I called on PDX Electric to disconnect my old electric service/breaker panels and move the service to a different location specified by PGE. Marty and Cory installed a new 200 AMP Meter/Main breaker panel including the mast, ground rods, etc. Since the breaker panel is in my garage, and PGE spotted the meter about 40 feet away, they also installed a large #4, 4-wire cable between the new meter/main and my new 40/40/200 AMP breaker panel in my garage. Of course they also installed the breaker panel and a temporary receptacle.
