MIKE HASTINGS PAINTING

Description of Work: Mike and his crew painted much of the interior of my new (older) home last fall. I had gone to Miller Paints in September 2012 for painter recommendations. Miller gave me 3 names. Mike had the best prices, a professional and friendly personality and was very timely in his response to my phone call.

Description of Work: Mike and his team have done several painting jobs for me including interior rooms, full house exterior painting, and touch-ups both the inside and outside of my home in the last 4 years. His last project was painting new siding installed as part of a major installation of new windows by Westec, as well as re-painting my garage doors that had faded. One prior project which really impressed me, was Mike's touching up some interior walls that had been badly scuffed and dinged during a major upstairs remodel. I didn't want to undertake a full interior paint job due to the expense and because I wasn't sure what color I wanted the walls to be. He's truly an artist when it comes to paint matching and blending. The former owner had painted all the interior walls downstairs and in the upstairs hallway, a Tuscan yellow when he moved out, and there were no paint samples remaining. Mike forewarned me that in optimal lighting, I would discern a difference in the touch-up paint's finish compared to the original paint. He was right, but in normal daylight/settings, you cannot tell where he re-plastered the dings, and touched up the paint. That saved me the hassle of selecting a new paint color, dealing with large areas being painted during the Winter, and several hundred dollars.

Description of Work: We have a two-story 4200 sq ft home that is 90% wood shake on the outside. The whole house needed power washing and painting and staining. The shakes had never been treated in the eight years they were exposed to the elements. They ranged in color from pale beige to black. They were badly stained in places. Mike put in the time and energy to research the best product for our situation and came up with Timber Pro. Since the shakes were in such bad shape, they needed five different treatments including stripper, brightener, two coats of stain, and sealer as well as power washing. In addition, we had all the Hardiboard stucco and trim painted as well as a porch floor, railing, and deck.

Description of Work: Mike painted our living room, dining room, front door and coved ceilings using four different colors/paints. The price included all paint; we used high end Devine and Benjamin Moore in a couple finishes.
