It went really good. They were good. What stood out the most about them was the quality of work. They're a full-blown contractor. So they will do anything. They came out and did some beautiful painting around my house. On the floor, they put on some nice molding around the floor, the floor molding that goes around. It's called base mold, I guess. They cut that, painted it and put it on. It was a beautiful job, real professional. With the things they did we never had a complaint with.
Description of Work: The work was done years ago. They do hand grips for showers, handicap apparatus around the home to get you around easier as you become older. They also do paint. I had a painter come out that painted my bathroom. They do other things.

I placed a call Monday morning at shortly after 9am and got the automated system so I pressed the button for the "Sales Department". I was transferred to a voicemail for Bradley (Brad?) and left a message. I had hoped for a return call that day. This didn't happen. The next morning, Tuesday about 9:30am, I called again, got the same recorded message asking to choose an extension and this time I pressed the one for Brian Bartholamew as it was his name I had seen in the rave reviews on Angies' List. I figured he was an actual contractor and would be busy on site somewhere so I figured it may take longer to get back to me. Finally on Thursday mid-morning I received a phone call from Bradley apologizing for the delay in getting back to me as he was "swamped". I thanked him for the return call and told him I had already lined up some other contractors to meet with. All I expected was a return phone call. All the other contractors (not a "sales" dept) were able to get back to me within 48 hours at the most! All from Angies' List.

We regret that this member didn't get a timely returned phone call and are glad their needs were met. Our goal is to respond same day if possible but certainly within 24 hrs.
The hnadyman they sent was a pleasure to work with. Efficient, imaginative in addressing some non-standard repairs, gave useful suggestions, friendly and courteous. The hourly charge for handyman services is higher than some other handyman I contacted, but the work was completed so quickly and well I bet the price ends up the same. The office worked with me ahead of time to think through some solutions for a non-standard repair (no charge). Very pleased.
Description of Work: Long handyman list..Installed fan into existing box and changed two ceiling light fixtures, repaired broken pocket door, cleaned nosiy ceiling fans, installed bathroom cabinet, a few other items, solved a problem with access to a sink for a wheelchair user..

In looking for a contractor and not knowing any or having any recommended to me by friends, I decided to join Angie's List for help. I needed some work done in a master bath and kitchen. I contacted the company, In Your Home, this past Monday at 9:30amish and got their automated recording asking to select a department and left a message for Bradley in their sales department. I had hoped to hear back from Bradley that same day. That did not happen. On Tuesday, I called again in the morning but this time I pressed the button to speak with Brian Bartholamew as it was because of such great reviews about him and his high level of service that I decided this was a company I had hoped to work with on our renovation. I appreciate Brian is probably the guy in the field and is swamped at this time of year so my expectations of a quick returned call were lless then with this company's' "sales department". It is now Thursday morning at 9:40am and Bradley just called to say he was sorry he was just getting back to me know, but he was swamped. Hmmmmmm. Such a shame. How many other potential customers are they letting slip through their fingers, I wonder. My neighbor is renovating her kitchen and bathroom in the near future and I have already shared my poor experience with her. On the positive side, I went to my next choice, from Angie's List with equally high ranking. I won't be meeting with him till next week, however he answered the call himself while shopping at the plumbing store and spend about fifteen minutes discussing my remodeling needs, provided some suggestions and even suggested I come see his guy at the plumbing store to get an idea of what I might like inthe way of product! Angie's list = great resource In Your Home Remodeling = poor service

The man who did the repairs was very friendly and was able to complete the projects quickly and competently.
Description of Work: Several projects were completed at a rental unit I manage: repairing a handrail on an interior stairwell, patching and painting the area after repairs were done, repairing an outdoor stair rail and pouring cement to anchor it, and changing stubbornly stuck water filters under the sink and in the fridge.

They were great to work with. Very responsive, very professional with good follow-up. They were also very accommodating to a specific timeframe we had in which to get the work done. They ran into a problem in painting a bathroom, which the previous contractor had painted with oil paint without telling us that was what he used. So repainting it with latex paint was a problem. They quickly notified us of the problem and explained the options, and then did the best job they could in the time available for them to get it done (the timing being our constraint.)
Description of Work: Painted two rooms. Corrected a inadequate installation of our oven (the poor installation was done by another contractor.)

These guys were very professional on the phone and I was optimistic the project would go well. The scheduler had me send pictures of the job in advance so he could get a real sense of the work that needed to be done. Unfortunately that is where the good impression ended. I made it clear on the phone that I wanted to avoid paying a skilled labor hourly fee for trips to Home Depot if possible (though I recognize they can't always be avoided). I explained the job in detail over the phone, sent pictures and asked him to give me an idea of what materials they would need so I could do the shopping in advance. After asking twice without a response, I assumed they must come with a well equipped truck and I figured I could supply what they didn't have because I have a lot of construction materials in my garage. The workman came late and said it was because he began my job with a Home Depot run BEFORE he even got here - which I was charged for. Then he evaluated the job and immediately left AGAIN to do another Home Depot run without even asking what supplies I already had. Then I found out he bought and charged me for things like rags, garbage bags, and nails (all of which I had obviously displayed in my garage). The most unbelievable thing is that he bought Costco sized quantities and took all the extras with him. Overall I felt very taken advantage of by this company. Beyond the supply costs and trips to Home Depot, I believe the workman took much longer to finish the job than necessary. I watched the work area out of sight throughout the project and there was a lot of time killing going on. It is no surprise that the job ended up taking almost exactly the length of time they estimated in their quote. While I wasn't happy with any of this, I was just wanted to get the work done. However even the job quality was disappointing. He tried to leave without attaching the dryer saying I could just push it back. I looked at how he attached the vent and knew the angle was wrong so I asked him to do it. Sure enough it needed to be reworked (another 45 minutes of labor). The crawlspace trapdoor he made used all the existing doors materials including the insulation that needed replacing so in the end I have a door that doesn't look or work much better than the old one, but it cost several hundred dollars. The list of disappointments goes on, but the gist is poor quality work and dishonest pricing.

We regret and are disappointed that the client had a frustrating experience and admittedly we were caught off-guard by the client’s review and conclusions. Our commitment is to delight clients, respond to concerns immediately, and seek an honest and fair resolution to issues including pricing. After reading this review and discussing with the client we offered to redo the work at no additional charge. This offer was declined. We have concluded that with additional communication both at the initial writing of the scope plus when our staff arrived on the job site that most of the problems identified could have been avoided. Both parties assumed plenty of things which if called out would have made for a successful project. We also clarified that the client was not charged for one procurement trip plus many of the identified materials. We will take this member’s comments to heart and continue to work on being known for delivering exceptional service.

John was very prompt and professional even when an unusual plumbing problem became manifest. He had finished the taking care of the kitchen sink drain basket leak but after he left, a little later the sink drain began to leak again.... I called John and he came back quickly and did very thorough troubleshooting on it... and found that the stainless sink basin had a very quite unnoticeable tiny pin hole right next to the edge of the drain basket. A rare situation I suspect. John quickly cleaned it up and did the job again taking extra measures and time to seal that pin hole. I was very pleased how he took care of the problem.
Description of Work: replaced a shower diverter knob, repaired the leak in the kitchen sink drain basket, adjusted a front door latch, got rid of the stickiness and squeal sound in a kitchen drawer, put in an access door in close back wall to access bath plumbing.

We had some water damage under the laminate flooring in the bathroom due to a slow leaking toilet. In your home gave us a very competitive bid to replace the laminate floor with tile and at the same time replace the old laminate countertop with tile. We appreciated the efforts they took to keep the house clean (i.e. plastic down on the stairs) and the relative speed in which the project was finished. In the end we came in a bit over estimated budget, due to some extra tile polishing, but overall we were happy the with results and the price of the project.

Do not be afraid of remodeling projects when you have chosen In Your Home! From initial contact thru job cleanup this company rocks! Company owner Brian B. came and set down for an extensive interview outlining my needs, budget, the history of the company and why he started it (age in place focus) . He addressed all my concerns including the need for a Port a Potti , which because of the consideration of his employees I only had to use for about 24 hours. Dust abatement, home traffic flow, pets- all were discussed and addressed during construction exactly as I wished. The knowledge, courtesy, expediency, cost containment, commitment of keeping my stress levels low, being always on time show the care addressed by all the employees and I wish to thank especially Brian H. , the main man of the hour who performed most of the hands on work. He is a perfectionist and spent long hours taking great care in the installation of most components of the projects. Jason, job supervisor , was quick to respond to my concerns and many questions both during and after the project was completed. He came out to correct minor issues after the project completion such as a loose screw on a cabinet hinge. I honestly felt as if I were their only client because so much attention was paid to my project. These folks truly listen to you. They finished on time and under budget!
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom-adding walk-in tub with surround, new floor, widened door, painted, refurbished and reinstalled towel bars and vanity mirror, replaced all cabinet and drawer fronts. Also, replaced and updated all interior doors and hardware . Performed minor electrical repair on an overhead light and replaced old water heater. Also replaced old toilet with a comfort height one.

We appreciate the fact that one or two simple tasks can be expensive when they only take minutes to complete. The unfortunate reality is that a professional service like ours technically loses money with a one hour service call. We often are doing it as a courtesy for valued clients. By the time you factor in the administrative time, scheduling, billing, along with tradesman time and mileage driving over to and from a client home we will have invested substantially more time that the actual repair may have required. The most efficient approach and best value for our clients is for them to identify a list of home maintenance items (every home has lots of needs and we can help to identify them ...) and then schedule a 3 hour visit. Clients have regularly raved as to the speed at which the work gets completed and the value for the 3 hour service call. This is efficient for us to deliver and great value for the client. Thank you for the feedback.

The owner Brian B. came out to assess the project within a week of our calling the IYH office. He was very professional and knowledgeable about accessibility features, and provided some good suggestions on design and products that were implemented in the finalized plan. He provided us with a quote by the following week. After three previous attempts with other contractors on this project, it was a relief to see a nice detailed proposal with a reasonable breakdown of the budget (Thanks, Brian!). Cost-wise, we were able to stay pretty close to the original budget, even with a few upgrades in fixtures. With this project, we weren’t really expecting any big cost savings. Still, IYH had the better edge among all the bids we had received. Our project manager was Jason, who was very organized and did a great job making sure all the materials were ordered and brought out to the house before they were needed. We had to place a custom order for the wood drawers in the vanity and for the cabinets, so actual work on the bathroom didn’t start for several weeks. Jason was very responsive whenever we had questions and easy to get a hold of. Brian H. and Ryan did most of the work on the bathroom and they stayed on the project from beginning to end, with help for plumbing and electrical when needed. It was really nice to have this consistency for an extended project in our home. The job was scheduled to take 2 and a half weeks and ended up taking 3 weeks and a day, which was pretty much what we expected given the scope of the project. Both Ryan and Brian H. were good-natured and very pleasant to work with. They were professional and very considerate of our home as they did their best to keep the dust and debris contained to the work area. Together with Jason, they made sure the counter height and placement for all the grab bars and shower seat were appropriate. All together, the job was well done and the tile work turned out beautifully. There were a couple of details at the end that needed attention and they kept working until everything was done to our satisfaction. There was also a problem with the fold-up shower seat that came loose on one side, possibly due to a split in the wood behind the wall support. Brian H. came back the following day after working another job and stayed late to put in some extra long screws and heavy-duty anchors, and the problem seems to be fixed. We are pretty happy with everything. Hopefully IYH will be able to bid on our next accessibility project.
Description of Work: We needed to do a major remodel of our master bathroom to make it accessible for my husband, who now requires the use of a wheelchair. We replaced a seldom used, oversized soaking tub with a barrier-free tile shower and replaced the sinks and counter with a roll-under vanity. The existing toilet and shower were in a separate enclosed space so we had the old shower removed to provide maneuvering room and had an ADA toilet and some storage space installed. The floor had heat and ceramic tile installed throughout. Also, we had four doorways widened, together with the installation of two doors and a pocket door. All new light fixtures, fans and paint.

I called on behalf of my mother who needed to have someone install handicapped bars for my dad who is in hospital. The woman who answered my call was very nice. I explained that we needed them right away since we weren't sure when he would be released. She rearranged some schedules to shift David Kelley from a current job to ours since she felt he would be most qualified for our needs. She was able to secure availability for the next day, and told me to expect a call from him before he arrived.David called at 11 to let me know he was running behind schedule for our 1pm appointment and to verify what color bars we preferred, and again when he was leaving for our job. He arrived at 1:45. He was professional and friendly. He brought the bars he thought we would need. We led him to the bathroom, where he made suggestions about where bars should be, which bars and what height. He was patient with my mom who was a little emotional about the whole thing. He made measurements and marks. We had a coupon for $40 off with three hours work, and my mom wanted to show him what else she wanted him to do. He fixed every single wobbly cabinet door in the kitchen, checking all of them instead of just working on the few bad ones pointed out. He then went to install the bars in the bathroom. When I went in to let him know that I was going, he was cleaning out the shower head. When he was cleaning up after the installation, he felt the shower head wasn't working right. He said he hoped I didn't mind that he was fixing it. He made the whole thing work better than it has for a long time. My mom was delighted with the work, he did an excellent job of installation, and he was patient and respectful of her hearing loss and need to read his lips.
Description of Work: Installed disabled bars in bathroom, both near the toilet and in shower and near sinks. Tightened cabinet doors in kitchen, cleaned out hand held shower to reduce sediment, fixed diverter valve on hand held shower and installed new shower head.
