Fine Line Pacific really messed up on our job. When they came out to measure our kitchen cabinets the guy was in a big hurry. Instead of making a foam model of our countertop, they brought in a computer plotter pen on a level tripod to take the point measurements. I thought it was a bit odd, but figured they knew what they were doing. They didn't. When the countertops arrived, they were not tight with my walls and panels, and had large gaps, one edge had to be polished on site, and the countertop installers were a bit confused on the overhang/reveal. They blamed it on not knowing where the backsplash was going to be even though I clearly communicated such things. They tried to cover it up with a big bead of caulk.I complained, they apologized, and sent someone out to measure again. This time, they only took the measurements that were wrong instead of starting from scratch. Again, I thought this was a bit quixotic, but hoped for the best. It didn't turn out for the best. The countertops they delivered (10 days later) had worse gaps than the originals. They again blamed it on the fact they thought backsplash was going in the areas of gaps even though I clearly communicated where the backsplash would be. Again, they tried to cover it up with caulk. They then came out and assessed the situation, apologized, admitted they were embarrassed, and scheduled another measurement appointment in 5 days. They came and did a full measurement again, this time taking their time (with a senior measurement guy) and I communicated clearly. When the countertops arrived, they had to do some grinding in the street. I asked them about it and they said it came with an "ear" where they installer thought it shouldn't be. BUT, I had already worked with the final measurement guy that we should and DID want that ear. So, instead of the installer asking me about it (I was 15 feet away from him), he just took out his grinder and hacked away. Oh well, I wasn't going to wait again so I let them install it. This time the gaps were fine. However, the third install was poorly done around the zero reveal sink with globs of silicone in some places, and gaps of silicone in the others. Also, there was old dried caulk from previous installations on my finished panels that they didn't clean off very well. To top it off, there are three deep scratches around the faucet holes from what looks like a mis-aligned drill bit. Those scratches are not covered by the faucet trim. Well, I'm done dealing with this company at this point, but I thought I'd call and let them know they need to work on their business. They did not call back. They were responsive to their mistakes, So, for that, I'm appreciative. However, this seems to be a bad case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Every step is done with a different person, and their communication with each other is completely broken. It took 1.5 months for the whole thing to get resolved, and it still is a C+ job at best. Had we not gone through IKEA, and already paid for the very standard Chroma slab, I would have gone with someone else. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone wanting anything done well. If you are a landlord or a flipper, go ahead and save the money. Otherwise, go with a smaller local shop that makes a FOAM TEMPLATE for your countertops.
Description of Work: Very simple Quartz countertops in a smallish kitchen (about 25 square feet) with no corners, three different small slabs, mostly square. The ONLY tricky part is that the walls aren't perfectly flat and have s 1/4" bow in the middle. That is very standard in all houses, especially houses that are 90 years old. That's why most fabricators make a foam template first. Fine Line did not.

I didn?t use them to get the work done. They quoted about $4000. It turned out that they were subcontracted by a hardware store. I had a problem because I had originally ordered the countertops there, but they went back and changed the price for me after I waited for several weeks. The people from the store told me that it was the subcontractor who changed the price. So I went to the subcontractor, which happened to be Fineline Pacific and they said that they had nothing to do with the price. I didn?t have any big problems with that company and I didn?t know whose fault it was, but I just decided to go with somebody else. There was no one who came out. I took all the measurements and went to their office. They were very nice and straightforward. They did tell me that if I were to go with them directly, then it would cost more than I went through the store. I am sure that they have a special contract with the store, but I didn?t like such a thing. I felt that they should have quoted me a price and not sent me to the store. They were very nice and I don?t have any other negative things to tell about them. They could have tried to work with me in terms of price. I did have to wait when I met them. It was a really short experience. I would not use their services again as I was happy with the guys who did the work for me.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Fineline Pacific in July of 2010 for installing granite countertops in the kitchen and bathroom.

Our new kitchen looks terrific including the new countertops from Fineline. All of the people we worked with at Fineline were very professional and skilled. They were on time, on budget and the final results are great. We would definitely recommend Fineline to other's considering new countertops.
Description of Work: We did a complete remodel of the kitchen in our 28 year old home. As part of the remodel Fineline installed new quartz countertops replacing the old tile countertops. We worked with Fineline as a subcontractor of the main contractor who did most of our kitchen remodel.
