We really appreciated the suggestions made over the phone to see whether a service call was necessary or whether we could do a simple fix ourselves (we couldn't). Chris showed up right on schedule, explained everything to me, and did a fantastic job, replacing the blower and cleaning the fireplace absolutely meticulously. I hadn't realized how dusty and sooty it had been until the dust and soot were gone. It looks brand new! I couldn't recommend this company more highly.

The experience was extremely frustrating. We were referred to DTS by a builder because of the supplier's affordable prices. We met with a salesperson and reviewed several products. We purchased a gas fireplace insert with a modern looking flame (no logs). He asked about the material on the fireplace and we responded that it was ledger stone. It is a stone that has a stacking look and is not smooth. When the installer came to insert the unit he explained that we needed an electrical box inside the fireplace for the fan to work. He also added that the unit would not look very good because it would protrude out from the fireplace due to the ledger stone. We told him this was the first we were learning of this information. He said he wasn't surprised, this and quot;happens all the timeand quot;. We asked the installer to return the product to the store until we could figure something out. We contacted an electrician and a different fireplace person to come give us their assessment. The electrician thought it would be nearly impossible to get electricity into the fireplace box. The fireplace person just flat out told us the insert would look and quot;uglyand quot;. We contacted the salesperson and explained the situation. We were then told for the first time that there would be a 20% restocking fee because the box was opened. Their installer opened the box. If he had given us his assessment before he opened the box we would not be in this situation. DTS took absolutely no responsibility for this situation. The builder spoke with Mark Tester and made zero progress. Apparently the builder's relationship wasn't important enough. I am wondering if Mr. Tester knew all of the details. The salesperson had previously instructed us not to call him anymore but to go through the builder since he technically purchased the item. If this situation should suddenly change and we get a full refund I will be more than happy to report that event! Please consider all your alternatives including service before going with the and quot;cheaper supplierand quot;.

I went to a few different showrooms around town and found several fireplace insert models that I liked. The last stop I made was Dorothy Tester. They had one of the models that I had been looking at elsewhere for $1,000 less. They do not do installation but recommended someone who came out and verified that the selected model would fit in my opening. I placed my order with Dorothy Tester once I knew the proper offset flue adaptor to order and my installer picked it up the following week. The whole process went very smoothly. The only issue was that the unit was not delivered to Dorothy Tester when expected and my installer had to reschedule for the next day. That was not an issue for me but my installer lost some time.

Dorothy Tester Sales was wonderful to deal with. We needed a replacement part for a gas fireplace that is no longer made. Dorothy Tester Sales responded immediately to our e-mail. When we picked up the part, the salesperson gave good advice on how to install it. Everyone at their office was extremely helpful and friendly.

We heard from others to give them a look for a good price, and it was a very good price. When I heard the installed price I called my remodeling contractor and told him the deal. He said to let them install it because he couldn't do it for that rate. They coordinated the installation with the contractor and everyone is happy with the result.

We found that Dorothy Tester was very helpful in helping us pick out a gas fireplace and was very timely with the installation. We would definitely recommend them.

OUR NEW FIREPLACE IS AWESOME. IT IS VERY POWERFUL AND HEATS OUR WHOLE FAMILY ROOM AND KITCHEN. THE INSTALLERS WERE VERY CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT LAYING DOWN COVERINGS TO PROTECT OUR CARPET AND SURROUNDING AREAS.
