This company came in with the best bid on filling in a culvert in my back yard. The culvert was about 50 feet deep and 100 ft long, the neighbor did his as well so he got two jobs in one. My half was about $3800. We agreed on the price, signed a contract and work began. When he was leveling the dirt he asked me about adding more dirt. I asked what he meant and he said a couple more truck loads would make it easier to level and bring the grade up. I asked what it would cost me and he said nothing. I said go for it. A while later when the job was complete he sowed up at my door for the final check, after I had to call him a few times to complete the transaction. I handed him the check and he asked for another $800. I asked fo what and he handed me the original invocie with a sticky note on it with $800. He said for the extra dirt. I told him that was not what we agreed upon and he said it wouldn't cost me anything. He said I didn't say that, even though there was two of us there and heard him. Overall the job was not great. Now that it has been almost a year I can see spots where the grading is bad and water pools. The overall unprofessionalism of someone showing up with a sticky note for extra money is what did this company in. I will never use them again nor would I recommend them.

This was the best quote for our culvert filling project. We hired him and expected the service to begin when he said it would in a month.. A few weeks later after several phone calls he called to say that the place he expected to get the dirt from had not made it available yet. They had come in and installed the pipe in one day which was quite impressive. After another month the dirt was finally all there and he spent a couple days grading it. One of those day we went out there to talk to him. He said that he was having a hard time getting it level because the grade was so high. He said he wanted to bring in another truck load of dirt to make it easier. I specifically asked him how much it would cost me.. He shrugged it off and said 'nothing.' I told him to go ahead then. Two more weeks later and everything was done and it looked good. I called him for the second time and asked him to come pick up his check for the completion of the project. He finally showed up and had the original signed invoice with a sticky note attached that said $800. He said that that additional truck load of dirt cost him $800 and thats what he was billing me. I told him we had a deal and a signed contract for a certain amount. I also told him that he told me it wouldn't cost me anything for the extra truck of dirt that he wanted at the end. I handed him a check for the remainder of the amount we agreed upon and told him our business was finished. The gall of the the guy to show up with a sticky note for more money when we had a signed contract. Needless to say I did not pay him the additional $800, nor will I ever. The final check said remainder of payment and he cashed it. I took that as him agreeing with the fact that his attempt at extra money wasn't going to work. Their work was decent but business practices were questionable at best. If you hire them make sure you read your contract and tell them that you intend to hold them to it, oh and good luck.
