Align Design

i wanted to upgrade my 25 y/o laminate kitchen countertops with granite, and while looking at granite samples at a store in Portland, I met Chris Merrow of Align Design. From the very first minute he was more than helpful. He impressed me with his knowledge and professionalism, so months later when I finally decided to go ahead with the project, he was the only installer I called. I felt his bid was competitive, even though it was higher than I had originally planned to spend. I don't seriously believe I could have gotten more for my money elsewhere I went through weeks of trying to decide what color / style of granite was right for my kitchen, and also had no firm idea of how the backsplash should look. His continuing advice and guidance were just exactly what I needed. There were many emails back and forth with my questions, and bouncing around ideas, which most "old-school" contractors would not likely be willing to do as graciously. Chris was willing to work with me in that regard, and in spite of his home base being 50 miles away, we hashed out all the nitty gritty details of material and vendor selection. He also provided me with a picture of a backsplash design that he had done before, and after considering other designs I decided it was the best choice for my kitchen. He has a considerable gallery of his past projects for prospective clients to review. In two working days, the project was completed with a minimum of disruption and hassles. One of his best ideas that I hadn't thought about was expanding the size of the island, which made more efficient use of material (less waste) and gave me greater counter top area than before. Bottom line is that I highly recommend him for any job involving countertop and tile. I would hire him again without hesitation.
