We have had compliments from other people about the way they designed and installed our yard. We are planning to hire them to work on our backyard too.

The work went well. No problems to speak of. Then during the following year in the summer approximately one-third of the plants started looking yellowish and did not look well. I called Star Landscape repeatedly, left messages with no response from them. My neighbors were noticing and concerned. By fall I had hired a landscaper who pointed out that one-third of the arborvite's root balls were considerably above the ground level. In other words, they had not been planted deep enough. I spent hundreds of dollars on loam and labor to fix the problem. After weeks of work, the plants responded well. My frustration was from Star Landscape's lack of response and lack of pride in their work. Any small business should stand behind their work with pride in their abilities.

I first contacted Star in late March about replacing the front and back lawn at our house. The total area was approximately 4100 sq ft. His bid at that time was about $3500. We ended up doing the work on the front yard ourselves, but decided to hire help for the back. Since Star's bid was the best at the time I called Tyler again for a bid on just the back. We had decided to lay gravel on about 600 sq ft of the back, work which he was also to bid on. That left about 2000 sq ft. His bid for the lawn portion was $4650 and an additional $1000 for the gravel. When I called to ask what had changed so radically, he told me he had miscalculated the first time and unapologetically told me to go ahead and try to find some one to do it for less. Well I did and got the yard done for $1500 (the gravel, including leveling and hauling out debris and removing shrubs was $1100). Tyler may have honestly miscalculated but the new calculation was so much greater for half the area that I felt he may have recalculated based on meeting me and seeing the car I was driving, since the home in Eugene is not my primary residence and his first visit was not with me.
