My toilet clogged at 3:30pm on Friday. I doubted I could find a plumber to help me on short notice. I called a couple of 'major' companies and they were either too expensive or didn't do "drain unclogging." Used WhitePages.com to search for plumbers in my area. Found a couple local ones and finally connected with The Country Plumber, an independent. The wife answered the phone, was very friendly and said she'd contact her husband and get right back to me. In less than 5 minutes, Frank -- the plumber-- called back and said he could be here in less than 30 minutes, which he was. I was embarrassed as my house was a mess (am disabled and unable to clean on a regular basis) but he eased my fears, telling me understood my disabled limitations As to the clog, he mentioned knowing how medications can affect bathroom habits. Frank used an auger on my toilet and had it unplugged in only a few minutes. He augured three times just to make sure and flushed it several times until he was satisfied it was running properly. He told me if I had further problems with it in the next few days to call him and he will come out and auger it again at no charge. Since I also had another toilet with a seal problem, I asked him to look at it which he did. He gave me a plan of action to monitor it for leaking and said he would come back if needed. I asked him questions about chair-height toilets and power-assist toilets. He recommended a regular-power toilet that works very well and costs about 1/3 the price of power-assist ones. In response to my query about taking payments, he said he could do that if planned in advance, splitting the cost into 3 or 4 payments. Frank was very hospitable, efficient and gave me some additional tips about preventing clogs. HI service was a very pleasant experience in a very uncomfortable situation. He even carried an old chair I needed moved out to the garage. I plan on having him install two new, chair-height toilets in the near future as soon as I can save up enough for a down payment.
