Description of Work: They were called to service our furnace and give us information about putting a Nest system in our home. The technician knew nothing about Nest or incentives that they were supposed to be certified to install. We waited weeks for info. As for scheduling, they showed up and did not call us to confirm a time. He did 15 minutes of work and they charged us approximately $350 to service furnace. I believe this to be ridiculously expensive for 15 minutes of time.

Description of Work: I called on July 31, 2015 to see when they could come out to check theheat pump at a rental of ours because it didn't seem to be cooling. They came out the next day. They called when they were on their way which was nice because we weren't there so that gave us time to jump in our car and get there. He found the problem quickly and was able to fix it right then and there. We were very pleased. We don't know how much that same service would have cost elsewhere but we were satisfied with the price. We would definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreTerry (the owner?) came out to fix the whole house AC unit as the outside unit was not coming on. He checked it over including tring a new starting capacitor. He determined that the problem was that the compressor and said a new one would cost almost as much as a whole new system. He also suggested upgrading the 2 ton unit to 2.5 or 3 ton for about $4600. I had a 2nd repair company from Portland, and the replaced the fuses (about $10) and the started right up and cooled the house down right away (on a 100+ degree day). I've NO idea how a professional could have missed blown fuses. Edit: To clarify, the company from Portland (well, Gresham actually) charged a trip fee, so my total was $119. Checking the quote from McDowell and son, the total was going to be $4,769. Although, he later emailed me saying "...it is recommended to also replace the copper line set to the outdoor unit." He didn't give a price for that.

Description of Work: Installed a new gas furnace (I had taken out the old oil unit) and modified some of the ducting. I had told them not to worry about speedy installation as we were using wood heat and it was working fine. They took over a month to complete the job, but that was fine with me. Pleasant, professional team.
