The Hardwood Pro

The work was done quickly and we were treated professionally. The provider seems to have a very deep breadth of knowledge about this work and educated us along the way. We were ecstatic about the relationship and his can-do attitude (finding the same size wood/type was a chore). The initial work looked spectacular -- dare I say perfect? And had I given this review immediately afterward, would have rated it as high as possible. However, spaces began to appear between the slats of the wood. This is most likely due to the wood not being fully dry before installation and it shrinking a bit -- something he specifically called out as a precaution he takes. At the end of the day the floor does not look very good because of the little gaps here and there, even to a casual observer. We had another company replace some wood in our downstairs as part of an insurance claim (flooding), which required new wood and refinishing the entire floor. After 3 years there is not the slightest hint of a gap between those boards. So in comparison, the work done via this Angie's List deal was pretty sub-par. Why do I grade this Fair/3 stars? Because of everything else that went into getting the work done. I have a feeling this was a fluke -- that the wood was more moist than is normal -- and that even waiting the extra time we did for it to dry wasn't enough. In fact, I called him back to do more work but found he had moved south so wasn't available...

I used them to repair the floor. It looked okay when he left, but now the issues are back. He was really nice, though. I would give him another chance. I was glad he came out since it was a small area.

I am very happy with the results. Will and his crew showed up when they said they would and did a very nice job of keeping my house clean during the process. They are very detail oriented and I was extremely pleased with the quality of their work.

Will has relocated to the Portland area and was kind enough to honor his commitment to us by staying in the Tacoma area just to do our project even though his family had already moved. Our repaired stairs and floors are gorgeous and I am so thankful I chose him to do this project. The previous contractor had left us in a terrible mess and Will fixed it all even documenting for us (including pictures) all that he had to correct and why. We wish him the best of luck with his new life in Oregon. I am sure he will succeed in anything he chooses to take on.

We live on Vashon, and it's not easy to get to get contractors to quote, especially during their busy season. Unlike many other hardwood contractors that apparently were too busy to return my call, Will was honest with me from the beginning. They were also very busy during the fall, but Will told me if we were prepared to wait until things slowed down, he would help us. He contacted me early January and came over to to Vashon to inspect and quote. I accepted the quote and the job was scheduled. The refinishing took 5 days. Will, Robert and Chandler were professional, arrived on-time every day, neat and meticulous. Note: I cannot comment about the cost, because it is my policy not to call contractors twice. I consider it to be inexcusable when contractors are "too busy" to return your call.

The original request for quote was answered promptly, the owner came to our home, made the necessary measurements and got job details. We told him the type of flooring we wanted, he recommended a source to us, and were able to find what we were looking for, took samples home, selected our type,and spec. We called the owner back, he priced out the material for the job and promptly sent us a proposal. From previous calculations, his pricing seemed very fair. We agreed to terms, and he gave us a tentative schedule. He was unable to make that schedule, and a few days later gave us a firm date. The owner and his installer, Robert Banner, showed up promptly at the appointed time, 8:00 AM, and immediately set up for the job. The owner said the job should be completed in one day. Soon after, the owner left, and Robert went to work. I have never seen a more expert technician, who worked steadily and did and outstanding job with the installation. The floor is truly beautiful, and we could not have asked for a more professional installation. After the job was complete, Robert made a detailed clean up, and left everything very probably cleaner than it was before hestarted the job. The job was complete by 5:00PM. I would recommend The Hardwood Pro for any hardwood flooring work you might have. And a special kudo to Robert Banner, the technician on this job. Charles Wheeler

We had a bad housesitter for a holiday, with the end result being our dog had marked some spots in our kitchen - spots that turned black, ruining the boards. We originally went with these guys because they had an Angie's List deal going ($199 for $500 worth of hardwood work). Going forward, I would use them whether or not there is a deal to be had. The estimate was spot-on, the work was flawlessly done, the gentlemen they sent out to do the work was courteous and efficient, and the entire transaction went very smoothly. The only complaint I could proffer is the gentleman did show up about 20 minutes late, but in the contractor world, that's oftentimes considered an hour early.

We hired will to refinish Kitchen,Hall and family room upstairs replacing linolum in kitchen to match existing hardwood. will seemed like a great guy and most of the work was done very well with the exception of one critical error. wills crew did not clean thouroughly after sanding and a large amount of sanding dust was blown out of the registers and onto the finish. we cleaned a couple of shovel fulls of material from registers and underneath the fridge. there was also a lot of mess made on the stairs with stain/poly dripped onto carpeting on the floor below.This would have been avoided had the stair treads been removed and finished loose as discussed and priced prior work begining.

Will and his crew did a great job. They were all very professional. He was also able to grt my job in earlier than expected. they even came in on the weekend to finish the job early so the floors would be ready for the movers. The floors look great.

Will and his crew were amazing! They were punctual, professional and very easy to work with. If I had any questions, I could reach Will fairly easily. But one of the really great things that I liked about this company (as compared to the last company that we hired for this job), is, they were meticulous about covering everything with plastic and taping off the house to keep dust to a minimum. So instead of having to clean everything when they were done - I was just able to put everything back into place. Done and Done!! Hiring this company made having the floors done a pretty painless experience and my beautiful floors look brand new . . . Just in time for the holidays!!

Will and his crew showed up promptly every day and got right to work. Any email or phone call I placed to Will was promptly and cheerfully answered. It shows in their product that they enjoy and take pride in what they do. It was a pleasure to do business with him. And I LOVE my new floors.

From our initial contact, Will was prompt, professional and friendly. Our estimate was detailed and clear. When we hired the Hardwood Professionals we were glad to see that Will's happy and friendly attitude was mutually shared by the entire crew. While the work was great, it was a delight to share our home with such nice guys. They even sang. The crew worked long hours and finished the job on time. We are extremely happy with the results.

Vlad was awesome. He came and wrote up the estimate. He had the new wood delivered a week early to climatize to the house. He completed the job in less than a day. When we were ready for finishing, he sanded and got the first coat on in 1 day, put on the 2nd coat the next afternoon and we were back in at the end of the third day. BEAUTIFUL! People are unable to tell where any of the new stuff is; it ALL looks new!

Once again Will and Robert were great to work with. Perfect job, couldnt be happier.

There was a delay in starting the work due to an illness. The work was rescheduled and was completed in four days. I added on some new floor vents and an extra coat of finish. The floors look perfect, and they took care not to spread any sawdust into adjacent rooms. I was delighted with the whole job! The employees are also very pleasant and approachable.

It would have been a good deal if it suited my needs. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the company. In the future if I required any work like this, I would hire them. After we talked about the job it seemed as though the big deal was not approprate for me. Because of this, I prompted a refund request from Angie's List.

Will was the best price, but more important they were the best quality. I got 6 bids on my flooring. Will was the only one who offered to change my metal air vents into inset wood vents that blend into the floor. I have a vent in the hallway that was an eye soar because the poor placement. It was like the first thing you would notice. Now with the inset wood vent you don't see it. My neighbor also got 2 bids, one from Will and someone else. Will uses nontoxic product. They did a great job taping off rooms to prevent dust from sanding getting everywhere. I was happy to be able to see on my floor different stains. If the sample weren't quit the correct color, they would get another color and place a sample on the floor. It made me very confident in my stain choice and couldn't be happier. Will and he guys are busy, but the are worth the wait. There has to be a reason he is busy and had to wait 2 weeks before he could get to my floors, compared to one person who bid on my floors who kept bugging me and stating he could start right away. My parents had there floors refinished 10 years ago and stated Will did a better job. I cant seem to say enough, other then give him a chance you won't be disappointed by the price and GREAT quality work.

They did a great job. My only complaint was that they did the wood cutting in the house. But the quality was great. I may use them in the future.

They came to see what needed to be done. They told me about the company and what they would be doing in what order. Gave me a verbal estimate of costs and time involved. had them come about a month later because that was when I was available. They were available sooner. We agreed on a date. Two weeks later we had to push the start date back by a day. NO PROBLEM. On the appointed date, they arrived 10 min early....all smiles. They removed baseboards, moved all furniture out to garage. And covered the cupboards and blocked off upstairs to minimize dust. The next day they arrived and began the work. My surface area was large so it took them about 5 days to complete. We did not have to move out, but of course couldn't really use kitchen as the surfaces were covered.. we were able to get to refrigerator thru a little access port that we made and they repaired. After job B was done, they put furniture back in place, cleaned up after themselves and put baseboards back. We got extensive instruction on how to care for our beautiful floors and what products to use.

Will was the first person I called when looking for a flooring guy. When I mentioned had found him on Angieslist he immediately offered me the special pricing only available to Angieslist members. His crew showed up on time and ready to work. They completed the work in two days and it looks great. They cleaned up as they went, answered all my questions and were a pleasure to have in my home. These guys are true professionals!

Will came over and told us our options as to types of finishes, made measurements and left. Next day he sent a bid for our choice of three coats of waterbased finish, no stain. He said the job could take three days depending on weather for drying. We set a date at which time two of his men arrived and set to work. They covered all openings with plastic which kept the dust confined to the familyroom. There was some dust on the walls after they finished but not bad. Next day Will arrived and applied the last coat himself. I removed and replaced the baseboards and moved the furniture. I'll have them back if we do more floors. The floor really looks nice.

We use Hardwood Pro for all of our floor refinishing needs in our apartment buildings. Top notch service, quality, and prices that can’t be beat. This is my second review on Hardwood Pro - the difference between this time and the last review was the lead guy on the job. Last time Will the owner was the lead guy and we got outstanding service. This time Robert was the lead guy and we got exactly the same kind of service as we got from Will. I think that merits a second review. When an employee gives you the same outstanding service you got from the owner - that says something about the depth of expertise in Hardwood Pro's people. He went way above and beyond to make sure that the floors were smooth and ready to go for the incoming tenant.
