We loved everything about our experience with Rick's! The installers did a great job, they were friendly and professional, the materials we chose for our deck roofing is just what we wanted. We would highly recommend them to anyone needing a deck roof

They come on time and did a good job. They are open to a discussion and flexible. I will use them again if needed and recommend to others.

Sales pitch was fine. A half day job quote ended up taking three days off and on due to parts. The installers were professional but dealing with no parts or wrong parts. The end product is fine, looks good. The whole issue stems around the difference in the quote between installing new 4x4s and using existing 4x4s. Line item for new 4x4s/labor exceeded $650. We determined that existing 4x4s in cement were in good shape so all Rick's had to do was wrap them with the vinyl sleeve. I should have obtained a new quote, but I paid the original bill in full and was told there be an adjustment. After several phone messages & emails to my sales person, a check for $91 showed up in the mail. No explanation, but highly likely the cost of the four 4x4s. No credit for labor. I have left messages for the sales rep and the production manager with no response. Job was first of June. Very disappointing. Frankly, ratings are based on how I've been treated post job.

I had Rick's come out and do a post installation for a fence line between my and my neighbor's property. I'd normally do it myself but the area has two trees with extensive root systems, a bit more of a challenge than I wanted. Cory came out to do the bid and we both decided that the fence line would have to deviate a bit due to the root issue. Installation day came and Justin and Hunter showed up to do the work. After discussing the challenge with them, they went to work and by afternoon the posts were installed perfectly aligned from front to back. Both my neighbor and I were delighted with the work. Everyone that I worked with: Cory G in sales, Jason, the supervisor and Justin and Hunter the installers, were easy to work with. As I am doing the final installation (boards and rails) myself, they were quite helpful in providing extra tips to make the upcoming completion go well and completely answering my questions. I've done business with Ricks before and look forward to their help on future projects.

After we contacted Rick's, the estimator was out to our home immediately and gave us a bid right away. We signed with them in September and wasn't scheduled for the install until mid-December. They arrived on the scheduled date, but then were unable to complete the project in the estimated 2 days. Due to the holidays and some complications, the project wasn't completed until the last week of January. However, the manager did follow-up with a call to apologize for the delays and collected our feedback. We appreciated that professionalism and genuine concern for customer satisfaction. Overall, be patient as they are working on their communication skills with the customer, but seem to be a well-meaning local company.

Great! Rick's Fence and Deck Specialist, the amazing Luke Swope gave us unsurpassed client service! It was our first time working with Rick's Fencing and he was incredible from start to finish. What we were most impressed with was Luke's unwavering commitment to help us find a solution that worked for us no matter how many phone calls and adjusted bids we needed. Each and every interaction with Luke left us feeling completely taken care of. The quality of Rick's Fencing and Decking is impressive. The only thing more so is Luke.

They came when they said they would and got the job done pretty quickly.

I am a picky consumer, and am pleased with the finished projects. Rick's was helpful in the design stages to cover the bases, and still flexible during installations to adjust to physical requirements we discovered along the way. The fence job progressed nicely in July; however the December/January/February winter weather delayed the deck and cover job. To their credit, the crew worked through record breaking cold and rain to get it done. Only holidays, snow, and ice stopped progress and I don't fault them for that.

The installers - Mike A and Morgan - were fantastic. They were here on time and went to work immediately. The fence was taken out and they begun putting the new posts in within an hour. They worked quickly and efficiently. This was all done in a driving rain storm!!! I would have this company assist me with any fencing/decking needs that I may have in the future - they are great!!

The design was complicated. The craftsmen, Aaron and Adam did a professional installation and worked hard even with some changes in design. I am very pleased with the results.

7-29-15 - 1st day of job was very impressive! They worked at a very fast pace in 100°+ heat! 7-31-15 - Came back to install gate but gate had a dent from shipping. 8-4-15 - Called to find out the status and they told me that the new gate was due in on 8-12-15. I was ok with this since I still haven't given them final payment. 8-5-15 - New gate arrived and was installed. David had to reset one of the posts and installed the new gate and latch. I wasn't expecting the gate door until the 12th.....I was very pleased and would recommend this company to anybody. Thanks to Kenny and George for working so hard in the heat, something that most people would struggle with. Being a Gulf War vet, I know what working in the heat is like. Thanks to Matt for carrying my project on his books for so long and being on site to take care of a small detail, and to David for finishing the work to my satisfaction. Happy Customer!

Person was on time, got right to work and replaced a section the fence and necessary hardware.

Rick estimated that the work would take two days including demolition of the old fence and construction of the new. Rick supervised his crew of two at the start and end of each day. His workers were courteous and responsive, and they delivered on the special features mentioned above within the time they said it would take. I'm an engineer, so I pay attention to the details of a job like this. The work was well done. We also had some low-to-the-ground plants near the fence line that we wanted protected. Rick's crew put up stakes around the plants and avoided any bother to them at all. At the end of the project, their cleanup was pretty thorough. Of the five bids we got, they weren't the lowest, but right in the ball park most of the others. We live in a nice area, and there typically seems to be an "adder" on contracting bids in our immediate neighborhood. If so, it was applied to all the bids I got, although one bid was a thousand more than the others. Rick's work was quite good. The price was higher than I expected going in, but not out of line with most of the other bids. I would gladly recommend them.

Their product was sub par and had to send back about half of the fencing because it was unusable.

They had to clear and work around a lot of old fence and overgrowth, and they worked hard to do that. When they finished, I felt the fence needed to be lowered to prevent the dogs from digging out, and they came back not questions asked and fixed that. They build a wood fence for me several years ago, and it's held up well and looks good. I will use them again in the future.

They arrived on-time as promised. In one day, they were able to complete all 3 projects. Very high quality work. We asked for screws in the fence instead of staples, which they did. The gate is better than the original, the stairs completely match the old steps but are better built. The new lower deck allows us to step off the other set of stairs down to a nice landing that leads to the garden. We were so impressed that we had them also replace a fence at our beach house which was done by the Salem crew and will be rated separately.aaaaaaa

The work was excellent. I interfaced primarily with the estimator and this was very good. They were very professional an on-time for the work. They also cleaned up well after themselves and removed the old fence.

He described the bid he would be writing up and submitting to our board of directors by the middle of the next week. That was the end of it. Nothing was ever provided. Very unprofessional.

1, The quality of the workmanship with the wood is very good but... 2. It is covered with a plexi-glass type material, so it really is an outdoor room. The problem is that the plexiglass-type material does not extend far enough over the pergola. The rain is dropping on the wood and onto the edges of my patio. Another 3-6 inches would have made all the difference! Very disappointed with the lack of engineering thought that went into this fairly expensive addition. 3. Staining was not included, not was I given any guidance on who a reputable person would be to do the staining. I ended up doing it myself. 4. I was also promised that my garden gate would be repaired. It is no better now than before. I spent a lot of money. The pergola is very beautiful, but lacks some functionality. Also, the work on the gate was in no way adequate.

The materials were ordered and delivered as promised. As we did the installation, a few minor changes were done and when the needed additional materials were needed, they had them done the same day so the installation was not delayed. Paul was there to answer the phone when I called and took care of everything immediately. Always cheerful and helpful in answering the questions I had. And I had a few - not knowing a thing about fencing, and having a vinyl fence for the first time. I am sure we are the envy of the neighbors with our perfect fence, we plan to enjoy for many years to come. I don't like to mention price, I do believe they are higher priced, but in this case - we are so glad we went with them and did not settle for something less.

I've had Rick's quote two jobs. Both times they were >30% higher in price than the other bids I received. Nice guys, quality workmanship (from what I have seen), punctual, good quality, and they have a great reputation in town. They just have a lot of overhead that they apparently pass onto the customer.

I had 3 key requirements for the pond cover: Avoid the pipes and electricity at all cost, slope the pond cover away from the street, and don't put a post in the view from my kitchen window. The salesman also advised me they would not have to put a post onto the cement patio or walkway. The installation was initially scheduled for mid-June. When they didn't show for the first appointment, I called them and was advised "the material wasn't in." I had verified the appointment a week earlier so found it rude they never called me to re-schedule. This was a month after I had accepted the quote and provided them with a 1/3 downpayment. These guys may be good at digging post holes and putting in fences, but this job is a disaster. It's two months late and not finished yet. I held back $1,000 for repairs to the pipes and landscaping so they have threatened to file a lien. I had to compromise about the post in the view from my window. It sits on the cement patio squarely in front of the window. July 1, two workers showed up with vague instructions. I expected they would use mechanical post hole diggers, but instead they started to manually dig the holes. They were aware the soil here is packed clay and rock so each guy took about 5 hours to dig one hole each. If they had told me they were going to manually dig the holes, I would have soaked the ground and they would have taken only 1-2 hours per hole. When they started with the second two holes, they realized they would hit pipes and one hole was over the existing cement patio. They stopped work to call their supervisor. I started calling the salesman, then their main office, and finally their Hillsboro store manager. No one picked up the phone. The workers left. The salesman came out the same day on two trips, once with their "top installer" and once with the store manager. Their first proposal violated all 3 of my requirements. The engineering diagram showed a lot line at 100 ft. It was 140 feet. The side lot line was also shown at 100 feet. It's 110 feet. The pond is 25 feet from the side lot line; the drawing showed it 5 feet from the line. With these errors, they insisted they had to have a new engineering diagram completed because "I had moved the placement of the cover 4 feet." That didn't make sense. A 6,000 gallon brick pond hadn't moved. They assured me they would rush the new engineering and permit through. Instead, they deferred the entire project 4 weeks. It's now 3 months from the initial quote acceptance and the project isn't yet finished. I discussed removal of the clay soil from the site with the first two workmen. Instead, it's dumped on top of existing landscaping and high-quality top soil. An old wooden arbor was to be removed. It's still there and now more difficult to remove because the new pond cover is next to it. They refused to complete any preparation work in advance so they knew they wouldn't hit large rocks or pipes. I dug 3 holes myself to prove to them even their second design would hit pipes. They had to shift the design another 6 inches to miss the pipe. Cement and clay was dumped on top of the rock landscaping by the front door. This will be laborious to clean out. This area is part landscaping, part drainage as the sidewalk encloses this area and it floods in the winter without the rock area as a catch basin. My 19-year-old weeping juniper was pulled back with a strap anchored by another tree in my front yard. I was told this was a two-day job, but it's not finished after 13 days. The vital pond pipes and electricity were cleared marked by me and blocked off to prevent walking over them. The workman repeatedly stomped on the area, walked over them with buckets of heavy clay, and rolled wheelbarrows over them. They have to be excavated and replaced which will require emptying the pond and transporting my koi with great risk and expense.

Not the cheapest, but paid more for perceived reputation. Fence materials were not the same quality as 25 years ago and less than I had hoped for. Do not expect fence to last nearly as long. Lots of knots. Some boards are already splitting. Quote/invoice really hard to read. Salesman quoted sale price, but charged regular price. Error corrected with phone call. Said necessary for data to be changed on computer prior to end of sale and a "few" had gotten caught in the glitch. Delivery guy picked up extra boards as courtesy when making a nearby delivery.

Work was beautiful and done in timely manner. Questions answered nicely and quickly responded to.

We've used them several times for different projects and they've always been fine. They're fine. They do a fine job.
