I took my John Deer Lawn Tractor to Fisher for service. The mower is about 7 years old and used regularly on my acre of grass/field.I told them what I wanted, and I got an estimate on the phone later that day.The work and parts were expensive, but they always are for a quality brand like John Deer.Their work was done well, and when I dropped off and picked up the mower, they were more than helpful (considering I didn't have the proper ramps for my trailer).
Description of Work: They completely overhauled my mower, from rebalancing and sharpening the blades to replacing part of the front cowling that I cracked, to tuning up the motor. All done well.

Two weeks ago we took delivery of our brand-new John Deere tractor. When the equipment was delivered, we asked for the owner's manual. The driver did not have it but said he would have our salesperson, Jon, send it. Two phone calls and two weeks later, we still have no owner's manual--even though my husband was promised it would be mailed immediately. My husband plans to leave work early today and stop by to pick up a manual. We are very disappointed in the customer service we received after purchasing this expensive piece of equipment. We will never go back--I'd rather drive an hour to another dealer for better service.
Description of Work: Purchased brand-new John Deere tractor with mowing deck, bucket and box scraper.

The service tech explained to me the blade lever was in the "on" position which would cause the engine not to start. I felt pretty stupid since I should have know this but the tech said it happens quite often to folks. Since the mower was starting up just fine there was no need for him to transport it back to the shop. He wasn't sure if I would be charged for a pickup and delivery charge. A few days later, Fisher called and said they were charging my credit card $90 for the service call even though they did not pick up the mower. I feel a nominal service fee is justified since the tech came to the house. However, $90 seems unreasonable for a five minute visit. I will look elsewhere when it comes time to service the lawn mower since I feel Fisher's prices would probably be unreasonably high.
Description of Work: Deere riding lawn mower wouldn't crank over. Fisher would come and pick up mower and fix the problem.

It went poorly from the start. There was a lot of miscommunication about the starting problem. They told me that the battery was completely dead and I would need a new one even though mine was only a few months old. I agreed and they told me they had installed and charged me for a new battery. Turns out it was a ground connection problem and the battery was fine. They charged me for the grounding problem and the labor. They put a new blade (dull) on with their torque machine and I couldn't get it off to sharpen it. When I called they said I wouldn't be able to remove it by hand safely. The blade was new but completely dull. They told me that this was standard procedure because sharp blades were too dangerous. So I mowed all season with a dull blade that I couldn't remove to sharpen or replace. They supposedly replaced the carburetor on the chipper shredder but it only lasted half the season before it wouldn't start again. I would never have them do any work again for me.
Description of Work: In the early summer of 2007 Fisher implement came and picked up my tractor and chipper shredder for repair. The lawn tractor wouldn't start and neither would the chipper shredder. They were also to replace the blade on the the mower. They brought them back supposedly repaired.

When I called to schedule the service they told me how much the tune-up would cost and what the fee was for them to come to my house to perform the service. They didn't give me an estimate for the repair or an hourly rate (although I later learned from them that they're familiar with this model and they have set fees for belt replacements on these models. So they could have given me some idea of how much the repair would cost, min & max perhaps, hourly rate at least. I was away when the service was performed. When I returned home the mower was working but there was no paperwork describing the work performed (they later said they don't have the "capability" to list the services performed). 2 wks later they left a brief voice-mail saying the service was $800 and they'd charge my card. A high price tag with no explanation of services rendered! I called and had them send me an invoice and I made some calls to other local repair shops. I found out their prices are relatively high.
Description of Work: They performed a tune-up & repair (2 belt replacements and tires filled with sealants) on my John Deere riding lawn mower.

Check out the pictures. What a wonderful man and an awesome company!!! And because of this wonderful gesture I have a number of family members who would now like to own one of these machines... My husband is on the top of the list.
Description of Work: The Company didn't perform any work for me, They did one even better! My daughter was set to be married on 07-07-07 and we wanted the theme to be John Deere. I called Fisher Implement to see what it would cost for us to rent a John Deere Tractor for the wedding. I was transfered to Tim Carleton. I explained what I was looking for and he not only thought it was a wonderful idea. (John Deere Wedding) HE DONATED THE TRACTOR!!! How awesome is that?!! He delivered the tractor to our house and left it for us for the entire weekend. You don't meet many people out there now a days like Tim. Thank You Tim, Because of you my daughter had the wedding of a lifetime!!!

Rather than call me with the estimate on the brush mower, they did all the repairs that they could without sending out for new parts and then called me. The cost at that point for this unit repair was already at >$700. I did not authorize any expense and spent lots of time discussing this with several people including the manager. Finally they agreed to charging me only about $300, but it still was not completely fixed. After the new deck was installed the mower did not cut level. They sent the service truck back when returning the brush mower and releveled the deck. It cut better, but not as well as before the deck was replaced. The next year I had the normal service done on the mower again and asked for the level to be checked. Small adjustments were made, but they did not see anything wrong even though the results on the lawn showed poor cutting. I have spoken to the service manager and he offered no help in fixing the problem.
Description of Work: They were doing normal maintenance on my John Deere riding mower along with a smaller push mower with the mobile repair truck. They told me my mower deck was bent and needed to be replaced. I had not had any problems that would have led me to believe this was the case, but the technician said that if it was not replaced it could cause serious problems. I trusted them and agreed to go ahead with a new deck installation. My DR brush mower was not running and I asked them to take it back to the shop and determine why and give me an estimate.

Service tech was polite and on-time. Since actual work was performed I expected to pay service call fee of $80 but was charged for labor and misc., $22 and $1 for a total of $103. I felt over charge for ''work'' done. Will not use them again and do not recommend anyone else use either, save your money for someone who will actually do something.
Description of Work: Service tech arrived on time. Was able to start mower without any service. 5 minutes tops, for the time on the call.

THEY REMOVED THE DRIVE BELT, DRAFT ROD, SHIELDS, AND MOWER DECK. THE DECK WAS CLEANED, NEW BEARINGS, BET, AND BLADE WERE INSTALLED. THEN IT WAS ALL REASSEMBLED. THEY ALSO INSTALLED A NEW CUTTING BLADE.
Description of Work: THE DRIVE BELT ON OUR RIDING LAWN MOWER SNAPPED CAUSING THE MOWER TO BE INOPERABLE.
