James returned my call within a few minutes of dialing his second number, the 503-969-6102. He came over within a half hour and had the all the parts he needed to make the repairs on board his service vehicle. The repair was completed within less than two hours from my call to him. He was pleasant and very interesting to talk to. We talked about the possibility of needing a new furnace and water heater as both of them are original with the house and no longer efficient, but he was not selling me anything overtly. I will definitely call him when the time comes to replace them.

In July, we had flooding due to a clogged p-trap in our furnace/condenser from use of the air conditioning. The flooding caused damage to the adjacent room. It was the hottest week of the year and I had house guests. The home was relatively recently purchased with a home warranty so I initially put a call into the home warranty company, who sent out a guy from Temp-a-Cure. That guy could not immediately diagnose or repair the issue and then left the air conditioning unit running, which caused further flooding and damage. They would not return calls or come back out. I was frantic to have the issue fixed and called James, who had worked on a furnace at a previous home we had rented. He immediately answered my call, told me that his schedule was full but he would fit me in somehow, even if it took him after hours. He arrived at 8:30 pm, was able to make the repair quickly but discovered that the water leak had also blown a circuit. While repairing that, he discovered the heat exchange was cracked on the furnace and that the ducting was cracked, that would result in carbon monoxide leaking if the furnace was turned on. We discussed repair costs vs replacement and, given the age of the existing unit, determined that replacement was better. He provided us with quotes for five different furnaces with varying efficiency and showed me how to determine the cost/benefit of the different furnaces. Our new furnace was installed today. James was onsite together with another installer. The installer had the same level of courtesy and professionalism as James. James provides very high quality service, responsiveness and expertise. I would highly, highly recommend him and we will use him exclusively for our HVAC needs going forward.

Because of the weather pattern, it took me a while to realize the house was not getting cooler from the AC. When I called James back a few weeks later, he said that maybe it was a short in the compressor and he would charge $75 again to come back and diagnose the problem. This didn't seem right to me, and I decided to leave the AC for the next year to repair. I just had a highly-rated Angies List HVAC company come out and they said that the compressor was wreaked, which basically means getting a new AC. It seems like if James had taken more time last year, he could have figured this out and saved me $215 on this defunct unit.

I would use them again.
