My experience with Aylwin Construction was 5 stars. They did the job in just three days and added copper-beaded shingles for moss control for only $100 more. Alywin's Crews were on time and cleaned up as they went, provided protection for our plantings, and did a complete sweep for nails and other debris when finished. My family is looking forward to having Aylwin do a full replacement this year or next with a full Tesla Roof. I was completely surprised to read the recent review regarding the quality of work done by Aylwin Construction at a local condominium. Over the past 20 years, as an owner of one of Portland’s larger boutique industrial real estate firms, I have recommended Aylwin Construction to my biggest and best real estate investors. Making a poor recommendation would reflect poorly on me and my company. I have recommended Aylwin Construction to friends with structurally difficult Mid-Century solid deck roofs, large REIT buildings throughout Oregon and Washington, medium Family-owned apartments, and my own family members for roof cleaning, on Mt. Hood, new gutter systems, and full roof replacements and repairs. Multi-million-dollar Multi-Family jobs have been completed Professionally and on time without fail. Aylwin their own fleet of dumpsters and roof cranes that protect the property, speed up projects, and reduce on-the-job injuries. We hired Aylwin to replace the roof at our condo. Their communication was great until a couple weeks into the project. What we were told would be a six week job turned into two years. The quality of workmanship was not good. The crew had very little oversight. They would show up late, take long lunches, and leave early. We ended up hiring another contractor to oversee their work and fix the many mistakes and shortcuts. Despite multiple inspections and supposed fixes, we are still finding work they charged us for but did not complete. (We have disconnected vents, stem vents that were not installed, abandoned construction debris, and tight lines that were not insulated.)

Great roofing company and I highly recommend them! Rufus and his crew were easy to work with. Good price and prompt and courteous service. The crew cleaned up every night before they left. The roof and new skylights look great and the attic fan they added really helped reduce the room temp in our southwest facing bedroom. Will definitely use them again when the need arises.

Rufus Aylwin and Aylwin Construction have been operating for years in the Portland area. We find they are easy to work with. This was the second time Rufus helped us out. He was strongly recommended by a friend and Realtor. The roof was leaking and Rufus immediately sent members of his team to tarp the leaking part of the roof It was an old roof and overdue for replacement. The new roof was applied after installing several damaged plywood sheets. We no longer live in the Portland area so this had to handled long-distance. We have confidence in their professionalism.

Complete roof job and gutters completed to our house back in 2013 but I did not have access to a Complement/Recommend this contractor tool. I know it was a few years ago but they did a terrific job on a very steep, multi-vaulted roof and we have had no problem, still works and looks terrific. What also impressed me was their clean-up job on the property after the job was done. It was cleaner than when they started!!! Work done to your home is important, you will not be disappointed with Alwin as your Contractor partner. Plus they actually answer their phone!!! Rich ~ Tigard

Chris arrived when he said he would and he did a great job.

Incredibly easy and so very professional! The roof looks great, all the vents were replaced and some rotten plywood was replaced. All the old roof was removed. It looks fantastic!! We had a very tight timetable and they accommodated us at every turn. Shalena was incredible to work with and went out of her way to make this all incredibly easy!! We cannot recommend them highly enough!

Obtained four bids during the fall of 2020 in a tight market condition with the rainy season nearing. Aylwin provided the second low bid but was available to begin work within two weeks of acceptance. The crew was able to complete the work within a week even when dealing with some extremely hazardous conditions due to forest fire smoke. Kudos to the management for notifying us that a day and one half would be lost so that they would not place their crew in an unhealthy work environment.

Very well-polite, timely, did good work-as far as I can tell.

The crew installing the roof was professional, courteous, clean and worked super hard to get the roof done quickly. A very positive experience. I got several quotes and chose Aylwin Construction based on a very competitive quotation and, again, am a super happy customer. Todd.

Aylwin Construction is honest, reliable, and professional. They were quick to come out and give an assessment and followed up with an estimate in a very timely manner. They explained the repairs clearly and were helpful in answering our questions. They work hard, and as a repeat customer, I've always felt like I'm in good hands with Aylwin!

They did an excellent job, and at a very good price. Work site was cleaned up daily, the quality of the work was excellent, and the foreman kept us informed as they proceeded and found the porch support problem (rot damage to a post, and cracks leading to failure in a beam).

Mike came to do the estimate - one of three we received including one that was 75% higher for the same products. He was pleasant, listened to what we had in mind, offered a couple options and provided a timely and clear estimate. The workers showed up on short notice - and about a week earlier than predicted - but this was not a problem for us. They tore off the old gutters/downspouts and installed the new ones efficiently. They were careful with our house and left the worksite clean and tidy. We were pleased at the end of their installation, and now with heavy rain feel very good about our choice to work with Aylwin as everything is working very well.

Called me and quoted it, I said great, never heard from him again.

Well done. They gave us an early opening in their schedule. The crew was efficient, hard working and considerate of our property. The job was completed in 6 days as estimated. They made an important repair when they found a problem in the framing and did not add any surprise costs to our contract price.

From the bidding process to contract signing to completion of job was top notch. During bidding, Aylwin representatives patiently answered questions and revisited the property several times to clarify issues. An amended bid was prepared to respond to developing information. After contract signing on a Monday we asked that our job be done in June as we were very flexible. On Tuesday they called, offering us a start on that Wednesday! From contract signing to completion took 4 days! That was astounding. Our house was easy so the job could fit among more complicated work. Bradley's crew of 7 to 9 members did all the tear off, plywood repairs and new underlayment in one day; all shingles and venting in day two. We were kept in the loop at each step and had everything explained. Each day they cleaned our lot of debris. A great job from start to finish.

Had Rufus do our original roof using Certainteed Roofing...failed after 8 years. They did a great job first time so was easy to choose. Work was done and to my satisfaction details were completed

Great job. Company has minimum charge, which to me seemed reasonable given travel time for a crew of two and a large equipment truck. I appreciated the fact, that without making much of a point about it, they did more than the minimum repair I requested, all within their minimum charge. It seemed to me they made sure I got my money's worth.

This company never even responded to our inquire to get a estimate. I would rate them as bottom of the barrel.

When we purchased the rental property, we were referred to Aylwin for minor repairs on the roof. They had come in and did the job so fast, that we didn't even have a chance to assess them. Fast forward 3 years when we figured we would need a full replacement, I reached out to them for a quote. They provided most competitive quote and could easily fit the project in their timeline. It turned out that the roof needed all new sheeting and they informed me that they had bought the sheeting and replaced all of it - adding a significant increase to the project. I do not doubt it was needed, my only complaint is that they can operate so quickly and as a nervous homeowner, I like to be kept in the loop and have known before they did the work. Sending me a picture and a phone call would have been the best. I was told when they were coming but never got the follow up to say they were finished. It should be noted that our tenant said everyone was very professional, and that goes a long way in my opinion.

Once the installation was scheduled the work proceeded efficiently and professionally. Aylwin was able to match the color of the gutters exactly to the house trim as I requested.

Everything was completed as scheduled .
