Muir Painting

Dan's painters were professional, prompt and careful to do an excellent job! Several small problems that were discovered at the end were promptly addressed by Dan himself. He continued to work on the problems until they were satisfactorily addressed. We had six bids for this job ranging up to twice his bid and estimating 2 weeks to complete versus the 3 days he quoted. He was not our cheapest bid but his attention to detail and effort to satisfy all our concerns were well worth his cost.

Did two coats of two colors, sprayed and then brushed in. Large amount of work was completed in an impressively short time (just two days) owing to the large work crew and professionalism. After the job was done the crew did a walk-around with us to make sure no details were overlooked and that we were satisfied with the job. Bid was about $1,000 more than a competitor but we felt in this case that it was probably worth it owing to the quality of the work and prompt, professional manner in which it was carried out.

They painted some exterior work for us before this. They're fast and efficient. If they leave their crew unintended, they really need supervision. They're good and they're very, very customer-oriented. But Landon and Dan, the owners, keep their staff in line. They kind of forget to do little things, like they left some nails from pictures in the wall after they said they were done with the bedroom. I had to tell them to take them out. It was nothing really big. Once they did it, it was really nice. They do a good job.

Dan was quick to respond and come out to make the bid, which seemed quite reasonable. Once I'd given the go-ahead, workers came and power-washed the house within just a few days, and the next sunny day, the team was painting. I appreciate the great communication and speedy response throughout. The house looks great, and aside from a few minor bumps, the process was painless. I found a few tiny spots that the team missed, but I have the paint and can do the touch-ups easily. As a gardener, I was sad at the number of plants near the house that got smashed in the painting process, but I guess that's the sort of collatoral damage that just comes with the job. :-/ I'd certainly hire Muir Painting again, and recommend them to friends.

They were awesome! They did everything they said and their work was awesome and they did it at a very good price. I would highly recommend them and I have also recommended them to several people. We would still talk about how professional they were and there was nothing that we didn't like. They did the whole interior in one day and the exterior the next day and there was no drop of paint anywhere on the furniture or on the carpet. They were just great.

We called Muir Painting for an estimate on painting our house. They called back right away to schedule an appointment to come out to the house. Dan the owner of Muir Painting came out to the house the same day and gave us an estimate. Dan was professional, knowledgable and a really friendly guy. We had several changes to the original estimate and Dan was very accommodating and easy to get ahold of to make those last minute changes. On the day of painting they arrived on time. The crew confirmed the details of painting and got started. They were very professional and asked questions when necessary to confirm they were doing what we wanted. They were conscientious of the plants and other things in our yard as they worked. They completed the job in one day and it looks fantastic. They were thorough, cleaned up after themselves and were pleasant. I would hire and recommend them for any future painting needs.

His first response was 'here's my number'. I replied again saying maybe it was after hours why he didn't call or message me back and I was unavailable to call him the next morning, but wondering if he was available the next day at x time to come to our house. I was SHOCKED at his next response. "not sure I will call". What?! Why? I was trying to be efficient at get something set up for a quote. How hard is that to type back? When I replied that we would not be wanting to set up anything with him after that unprofessional response, and I wasn't surprised based on what Yelp reviewers said, he replied that Yelp reviews were fake. Well, THIS REVIEW ISN"T FAKE. Buyer beware. This guy is not professional in any way, and doesn't deserve your business. We found two other AL highly rated painters who came out and gave us fair quotes that were perfectly professional. and we will be hiring one of those businesses. FOLLOW UP TO OWNER'S COMMENT: I also gave him negative review on Yelp, where he also commented back that more or less that my review "like all the other negative reviews" had to be a conspiracy of Yelp because he won't buy advertising. Wow, that's messed up thinking. Could you have not made a mistake and just can't admit it? I AM A REAL CONSUMER. I contacted this company, where Dan the owner was basically a real jerk during the process of just trying to get him to come give me a quote. It was not because he didn't get back with me in timely manner, it was his language and attitude in his communication that offended me, and I decided to write the reviews... just goes to show I made the right decision to not move forward with him because he's a bit crazy with his ranting of all his other "A". Don't be fooled people. You can check out my other reviews I've done, and I do give good companies the positive reviews they deserve. This guy doesn't deserve an A much less a B or C...

Dan and his team were great to work with. After contacting a handful of painters to get bids on our project, Dan was the first to respond and come out to view our house in person. Other painters told us it would take weeks before they could give us an estimate, and some chose to just view our house via Google Street view instead of seeing it in person. Needless to say, we weren't totally confident in their "ballpark figures." Dan walked around the house with us and gave us a quote on the spot. After agreeing to the estimate and choosing our paint colors, Dan scheduled the project for a couple weeks out. They were a little late the day of due to a little mixup with our address, but were quick to tape and mask off the exterior of our house and get to work. They had the entire house done in less than a day. While Dan himself had to move on to another job that afternoon, his team stayed behind and walked around the house with us to make sure everything looked good. One thing to note, as this caught us by surprise a bit, is that Muir Painting does not accept credit cards (though perhaps this has changed since then) so make sure you have a checkbook ready. Overall the house looks good. We'd happily use Muir Painting again.

A job well done!! Let me preface this review by stating that we acted as our own general contractors when our house was built about 25 years ago. And, we had it repainted about 10 years ago. Both times we were less than satisfied with the work done by our painters, both in the quality of work and time it took to complete the job. This year we had replaced our windows and had some dry rot repairs done. Although the siding and window trim materials had been primed, we felt the house should be repainted before the fall rains. Fast forward to the recent paint job completed by Muir Painting. We called three different painting companies for estimates on the same day. Dan Muir was the first to respond, provided us with a detailed written estimate within 24 hours of contact, and explained exactly how he and his crew complete jobs. It took the other two companies two days to even call us back. Dan?s was actually the middle of the three estimates we received. One was so low as to be questionable and with only a two man crew, time frames might not have allowed for completion before the fall rains. The other estimate was so high as to be unrealistic to consider. Our selection of Muir Painting had a lot to do with the time we spent with Dan, his work plan, checking the State Contractors Board records, and the reviews on Angie?s list. The house was completely pressure washed in one day. The painting crew showed up at 7:30 a.m. onMonday morning and literally swarmed the house. Our 1800 square foot house was sanded, scraped, painted (two coats) and trimmed (two coats) in one day. The first coat was sprayed, then brushed in. This was followed by a second coat, sprayed and again brushed in. The trim was entirely brushed. And, although we had not discussed it with Dan, front porch railing was also sanded and painted in the same trim color. The crew was meticulous in protecting areas not to be painted. They were polite and professional, both to us as homeowners and to fellow members of the crew. When finished, they cleaned up everything so their presence would never have been noticed or known. Bottom line was that this was out best experience ever with a painting contractor!! We would not hesitate to recommend Muir Painting. In fact, I have already passed along their name to two friends who will be wanting their houses painted in the spring!!

They are very professional. They provided plenty of workers to get the job done. We had a lot of rain so they would Have To Stop working and then they would come back when the rain stopped and work some more. They were great and did a great job. One of our neighbors noticed that the painting wasn't even on one end of the house. We called them and they came out and looked at it and said they would come back and make it perfect. We had used them 10 years ago and decided to use them again after seeing an article about them.

Excellent! The painters were on time, professional and finished the job in a timely manner. They pressure washed, sand/scraped loose, old paint a few days before the paint job. They also re-caulked areas as deemed necessary. The windows were well covered and stayed clean throughout the job. I have to say that Dan was very patient and extremely professional in regards to touch-ups. I was meticulous and taped painter's tape anywhere I wanted a touch up. He and his crew did it all in two separate visits without any complaints or comments. I really appreciated that. I'd definitely call them again.

Four painters arrived to begin job at the date/time they had scheduled. Our main concern was that the seams of our Hardiplank siding were pulling apart where joined, and we needed them re-caulked carefully prior to painting. They worked through a very hot day and did a great job. They asked for a visual review of the entire project upon completion. At the time, I didn't notice that a small amount of spray had gotten on the black wrought-iron railing. I called Dan and he came the same day and carefully removed everything. I would highly recommend Dan Muir for any paint job you have. He is a man of his word.

Dan and his crew provided great service. They were friendly and worked hard. We were excited about how fast they worked and yet everything was prepped expertly, there was no stray paint anywhere just on the house. Extra care was taken to put all the weather stripping, plants and other items back where they came from. We thought the quality of work was excellent.

Dan is a gentleman and does what he promises. All the guys working knew what they were doing and it was very well done and cleaned up after. Would always recommend and call for more painting needs.

Dan Muir himself had given me the estimate, but his crew did the work. They were amazing. They arrived early in the day and had the entire job done in the same day. Our home is single level and 2400 square feet. They were very courteous and had several recommendations as to little things that should be done we had not thought of doing - all done at no increase in price. The very few spots missed were done within the next two days. I can heartily recommend Muir Painting!

Four of the crew, including the owner, showed up at 7 AM. By 3 PM that afternoon the painting of our house was complete. Our west facing wall was double coated as promised. Our natural wood doors were painted. When my wife and I did a walk around as they were cleaning up, Ranata commented that she would hire them again. I agreed. It is indeed a most professional paint job. It looks like a new house. Everything looked great for the agreed upon price, including all paint and materials. I would highly recommend Dan and his crew. Dan Muir's crew, with his son leading, came out to paint our house. After initially being told a crew of 4-5 guys would have it done in a couple days, I was pleased with a crew of 8 showed up early and were able to totally complete our house in one day. They were fast, pleasant, efficient and cleaned up very thoroughly. The quality was top notch. When they were done, I couldn't even tell they had been there, except for a dramatically better-looking house color. Dan was extremely responsive from the bid process on, and I picked him based on reviews on here, and his expressed desire for the business and flexible calendar. I would recommend him to anyone and use him again myself.

Very fast and high quality work. The house was power washed first. a few days later a crew of 10 guys showed up for repair and paint. I think ordinarily they would have finished but they found more repair work was needed. A few days later they were done. I did not have to pay anything till the whole job was done and the price was not raised even though more work was required. All the crew and Dan Muir, the owner, were very communicative and polite. We got 3 estimates and his was the lowest. Dan has also offered some suggestions that lowered the price.

It went well, the team of about 8 men worked hard. They were friendly and took the precautions to do a nice job. I have a mural I painted behind our house and they took the extra time to make sure is was well covered. Our house is a 2800 sq two story home and it took a day and a half to complete. We painted our house white which required more paint to cover the existing color and you can't see any of the old color. Great Job!

Dan Muir and Muir painting did a wonderful job re-painting our house. We were re-painting in preparation for sale, and Dan was able to fit us into their schedule in order to meet our deadline for listing, despite unpredictable Spring weather. Because our house was from 1926, it had to be scraped in a specific way (due to risk of lead paint) - this is why the job was expensive, because certification and specific equipment are required to do this. Dan and his team were perfectly prepared and experienced in dealing with this problem, and they managed to get the entire house scraped in just one day. Dan also did a great job of keeping us in the loop and called regularly about scheduling and progress. In the end, the house looked fantastic - we couldn't have been happier - and it presented very well when we put it on the market (sold in just 3 days!). We highly recommend Muir painting!

I have never done business with a contractor that I have not meet face to face until now. Due to our schedules we were not able to meet but I had several conversations with him before and during the work being completed.... and he was very responsive to my calls and voicemails. His crew showed up eager and ready to work and completed the job in less than 2 days. This included prepping, painting w/backroll, handpainting the trim and gutters. Also, when he came out to do the final walk through and I got to meet him for the 1st time, he noticed some debris on my roof that was from the prep work and said he would have someone out to clean that up ASAP. Excellent job Dan & crew! If you are hesitating on hiring this company because you did not meet the owner face to face please think again. Dan stands behind his work 100% and you can tell this by zero money down.

I called this company, to get a quote for some exterior painting we needed done. The message I left on their voice mail, did not describe what we needed. Instead of calling, he simply showed up 2 days after my call, unannounced. It so happened, that we weren't home. Without permission, he entered into our fenced backyard. He left a quote on our front door, still not knowing what we even wanted done. They may be the greatest painters in the world, I do not know. But for someone to show up unannounced, and for them to enter our fenced backyard without permission while we weren't home, simple does not sit well with us. Consequently, we will not be using their service. Update on 7-19-2014, after the Company put in their update. The Company doesn't seem to understand. I was NOT complaining that I got a quote within 2 days. I was NOT complaining that he might just show up if he happened to be in the area. I was complaining that the quote was useless, because he didn't know what we wanted painted. I was also complaining that he entered our fenced and gated backyard, without our permission. I bet he'd get upset if I entered into his backyard without permission.

They responded quickly to my request for an estimate and showed up at the agreed upon time. They indicated I could choose the paint supplier and type so I used a high quality Rodda product. They came at 7:30 am on the agreed upon day and finished and cleaned up by 4:00 pm. It was a crew of 4 including the owner, Dan, for most of the day. They sprayed the main color on and then brushed it in and gave it a second spray for coverage. The trim was painted using brushes. They did some minor repairs on the fascia boards and caulked all the seams on the Hardy plank siding. They did an excellent job and the house looks great. On top of everything else, they estimate was less than one half of the highest bidder. This company offers real value.

Dan and his crew were able to do the job on my single story ranch style house including the shed in the back yard in 7 1/2 hours. They arrived promptly when scheduled and immediately began working. They were very efficient and were obviously very skilled at painting houses. After the house was finished, they cleaned the yard, the patio and the driveway. They replaced all of the patio furniture and potted plants that they moved prior to painting. All of the crew were very friendly and answered all of my questions. The paint looks great, better than when it was new (I bought the house new 25 years ago). They were able to exactly match the color that was on the house before the current paint job, which I wanted because I like that color. I could not be happier with the job Dan and his crew did for me.
