Sales team and management using mafia style intimidation and misleading tactics to deflect from requests to provide specs of the roofing project. Contract signed after agreeing on the configuration but then the sales manager refusing to provide the documentation of the project, and then them canceling the contract lying to management that is us who requested to cancel it. 3 wasted weeks. Stay away ftom Home Depot, no integrity.

The representatives at Home Depot were very helpful. They were very knowledgeable and thorough in helping us choose carpet and place an order. We selected a carpet with a 7 business day installation guarantee because we had to have the installation done quickly, but the guarantee was not honored, because of the holidays we were told, even excluding the weekends and the holidays. It was installed a few days late. Home Depot contracts out the installation to other companies and the late installation was a disappointment to us as I had chosen a carpet that was not my first preference but cost the same specifically because of the time guarantee. When I talked with the company who did the scheduling, I didn't get anywhere, so I just had to accept it. The contractors were very professional and efficient. They double-checked with us on everything before beginning work to make sure the job would be done the way we wanted it. They also worked quickly. They did a beautiful job. When they had finished we couldn't have been more happy with the results.

After talking to a sales rep at the store, I was able to get a window rep. to my home to discuss the best window within a couple of days. I appreciated the expertise the rep. had. I found the perfect window and paid a deposit. The rep. tested my window for lead paint (there was none) as a requirement for the project. Home Depot sent me regular emails of the progress of my order and when the window came in quickly scheduled the installers. They came and were very pleasant and professional workers. Within about an hour, my new window was installed. It looks beautiful and I appreciated the smooth process from start to finish.
Description of Work: I ordered a new window through Home Depot and used their contracted installers to install the window.

HD has become our second most used retail store (after the grocery store). We seem to end up with everything from lumber to tools when we go. We always find what we need, prices are reasonable, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The only negative I would ever have (and probably being overly critical) is it can be hard to find staff members at times when you need help.

Initially I thought it went well based on my initial interaction with the salesman. However, as soon as it was time to do any scheduling or actual work, it became evident that the salesman had either intentionally lied - or just had no idea what he was talking about. The salesman assured me that they would coordinate everything so that the entire project would only take about a week - maybe 2 at the absolute most. They would arrange for the old base cabinets to be resurfaced, then have the countertop removed and replaced, hook the plumbing back up, then they would come back in and install all the cabinet doors and drawers. That 2 week project that started in March, wasn't completed until September - and the quality of both the backsplash installation and cabinet refacing, are sub-par at best. Initially the guy installing the doors and drawers blew out the back of every single one while installing the handles. This meant that every single cabinet door had to be replaced, as well as the inside drawer fronts. They readily agreed that these had to be replaced after sending out a manager to take a look at the work, but then they disappeared - for months... So finally, several months later they came out and replaced them. They are a good 2 shades darker now than both the drawer fronts and the base cabinets because they weren't done in the same run. It looks ridiculous. The bottom edges of the cabinets are already starting to splinter and fray. There is one set of cabinet doors that run into each other when you close them. 2 of the drawers don't close correctly. The backsplash looks like I installed it myself with no previous experience. Every step of the way there were problems. The countertop guys showed up to install the new one - with no indication from home depot that the old one had to be removed or that the plumbing had to be re-hooked up. The backsplash installers showed up having no idea they needed to remove the old one and had to go back to the store twice to pick up materials. They didn't patch where they removed backsplash but didn't put the new one. I could probably go on and on... They supposedly have a guarantee, but I was so stressed out by the entire thing I don't want to have to deal with them again.

Well we didnt have our loan in order to take advantage or Royal Exteriors deal. The owner was super nice and realistic. I am SOOOOO bummed! Call them first and negotiate HARD! We have had many bids for windows. We live on a hill and have a mountain view and with that, Old single pain drafty medal windows and there are 4 large picture windows and 12 standard sized windows. AND, the big expense...4 patio doors! So, we hear all of these stories about how peoples houses are being fully re-windowed for $1500 from a few people, $3000, etc...I have found out that these people have standard windows, NO special order sizes, no sliders AND having a buddy install them. Home Depot does not warrantee windows unless their contractors install them too. (We have to go with jeld wen-price point) We want some kind of warrantee from a company that wont be closing any time soon....Somewhere to go if there is a problem. Just my preference. The install runs a few hundred bucks each window. This becomes expensive FAST! Another issue we had. The person who came to bid did NOT measure any of the windows, he eyeballed them and extimated the size. So there will be multiple people scheduled to come to your house. So, time off work. In my experience after you make an agreement, they send the real measurement person over and this is where things got even more expensive! So, after the bid, the measurement guy comes, then we find out our patio doors are 1.25and quot; smaller then and quot;stockand quot; size. Meaning what they have on the store shelves wont fit perfectly so you must special. They wont add trimming or budge on this whatsoever, I called the sales manager and the installer. Nope, they say I must and quot;special order these.and quot; .The price went from $400 each door to almost $700 each door, NOT counting installation which is $349 plus and quot;add onsand quot; of course. So, bottom line for the patio doors? $400 + another $250 + $349 install....Your $400 door is now close to $1000!!! REALLY!!!??? Yes. Cut back carpet, trim...these things must be done too you know! especially is you get swing doors...another thing you have to wait till the last minute to find out. I have had a horrible experience, many trips many people to my house, time off of work, lots of surprises. I should have went with Royal Exteriors. I now hove my funding tied up with Home Depot with our Loan...
Description of Work: After 6 bids, it was between Home Depot & Royal Extetiors. We should have went with Royal Exteriors! Many, many trips to Home Depot to try & figure out all the add ons & special order issues & oh if you wait till thursday you can get 15% off...JEEEZZZ

Purchased the carpet at Home Depot. The selection was good and we were able to find the carpet we wanted at a reasonable price. Service at the stop was very helpful, not pushy. Took about 3 weeks to get the carpet in and installed. Installation service worked very well. The crew was timely and efficient finishing on time. We paid extra to have them move our furniture which was completed w/o issues. There are a few nails that you can feel when you walk barefoot where the carpet meet the hardwood that we have noticed in the last weeks which is a little annoying and uncomfortable. Would be good to get this fixed if possible. Overall a good one room carpet experience.

hardwood floor

I love the finished product. We've had the floors in for about 3 months and I have no complaints. Getting there is a little tricky though. I picked out the wood after several visits to Home Depot. I called their 800 number to place an in-home measurement. The guy who came is just contracted out, he doesn't really work for Home Depot. So he just measures and leaves. He wasn't able to answer most of my questions. The wood I had in mind wasn't suitable for my floor, but I wasn't aware of this because he never mentioned that there were different types of woods for different sub-floors. So he submits the measurements to Home Depot, then I go in to my local store to finish the deal. That is when they tell me the wood I wanted wasn't for the and quot;type of measurement he took.and quot; So I went home with some more wood samples for the and quot;type of measurement he took.and quot; I then chatted online with a rep from Home Depot to try to understand why some woods wouldn't work. She was helpful...But by this point I was pretty frustrated by the way the system is set up. Too many people involved to get the job done. Next step is to order your wood and wait. It took a few weeks to be delivered to my home. You can also have it delivered to Home Depot and pick it up to save some money, but we had it delivered. I was told that once it was delivered from the vendor, that Home Depot would call me to set up installation. I was also told that the wood would need to be in home for a few days first to adjust to climate. When the wood came, the boxes all said and quot;no adjustment period needed.and quot; So I called and after a bit of an exchange, the women from Home Depot said, and quot;oh yeah, that kind doesn't need to sit first.and quot; The actual installation went great. They sent out a father and son team that did a fantastic job and were very polite and meticulous. Again, my complaint would only be with the way the ordering process works.

Their pricing was reasonable and I really liked them. We had a weird incident that happened and they handled it extremely well. Before we had the fence put in we had the people come out to mark where you are not suppose to dig because of the lines. They did it wrong, so when Home Depot dug where they were suppose to, they cut our phone line. We called them to tell them that they cut our phone line and they totally took control of it and apologized. We thought they were going to say that it wasn't their problem because it was our company that marked it. She said to not even worry about dealing with the phone company. She said they will set up and appointment and be there the day the phone company comes and they would do everything so we didn't have to do anything. They stood there with the phone company to make sure they weren't going to cut anything else before they redid the fence. I was very impressed with them and they did a wonderful job. If I ever had to have fence put in again I would go back to Hope Depot. I realize they use subcontractors and they might not all be as good as the one we had but Home Depot took full responsibility for what happened.

My experience with them was okay. It was a generic, lower end carpet that we were putting in. When I went in to finalize the plans, I was advised that the cost estimate had gone up by more than twice the original estimated amount. I told them at that time, they should have advised me beforehand because, I was over budget now by approximately $10,000. I told them there was no way I wanted them to do the work, I was not happy with them and I told them to cancel my order. I also told them, I was going to speak with their manager, which I did, her name was Paula and after 5 attempts to contact her, I reached her, and she assured me of Home Depot's 100% satisfaction guarantee. She told me that I would receive a 100% refund with no penalties. I requested a copy of the architectural drawings that I paid for and worked on and Paula refused to send them to me, offering only to refund my $100 payment, which I told her was not acceptable. I contacted Home Depot Corporate and they have not followed up in anyway or sent me confirmation on cancellation of my order.
Description of Work: They gave me an estimate on remodeling my kitchen. I went in, chose & purchased my appliances. I told them exactly what I wanted. There was no ambiguity. They sent out someone to draw up the plans & I paid a $100 for this service. I went back, reviewed the first plans & they had to be revised. They were aware of everything, at that time, I wanted to do & they didn't advice me of any bid changes then. They knew after the first meeting what I wanted. I informed them the plans had to be revised & changed.

Our 100-year-old home needed gutters and replacement of fascia board due to dry rot. The HD rep. refused to take seriously our concern that dry rot would be found and would need to be removed...he basically penciled it in and assured us that would be enough. The estimated cost for our gutter replacement was $2700. We were never contacted by HD after they evaluated our gutters. When the crew showed up to replace them they were not equipped to replace the dry rot if/when it was discovered...we discovered that preparing the gutters is the responsibility of HD's siding department...and that there is a $5000 minimum charge just for the siding team to remove the gutters and prepare the house for new gutters. The rep. sold himself a long-term expert in gutters...he should have known scaffolding would be required and the siding dept. would need to be involved too. WAY under estimated the cost of our gutter install.. The only good part of this episode was that HD totally refunded our prepayment

We chose to purchase carpet from Home Depot in Clackamas (even though there's a closer Home Depot) because there were several negative experiences on Angie's List for our neighborhood store and very positive experiences at the Clackamas store. After picking out carpet, we met with Serena Murphy, who assured us that the Clackamas store's installers would come to our home for the installation. Both the measuring and installation went smoothly, workers arrived on time, were pleasant to work with, completed work quickly and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. We were pleased with the process from start to finish!

The sales person told me to bring in the exact measurements of the 3 windows, so I followed his instructions. When the awnings arrived cut too small, Home Depot would not refund the $800 and attempted to convince me that they train their people to advise customers to bring in measurements larger than the actual window. The Manager of Home Depot was also unresponsive to their error. I received no compensation and now cannot afford awnings.
